- A lyrics-on-the-lap type of cover for you today! I know it's not perfect, but I honestly like that because it represents my favorite way to play music: for the fun of it. Katie celebrated her 30th birthday last week, and afterwards Matt and I sat down and knocked this song out super fast before I left for college the next day. Super thankful for him bearing through the weird as heck chords on such short notice :)
This is one of my all-time favorite songs and-in Matt and I's opinions-Elton's best work. Hope you guys are having a lovely pre-holiday season!

What makes a great singer is that they're always recognizable. You always know when Dolly is singing and in the same vein, you always know when Julianne is singing. A unique voice that really makes the music jump to life. Love it.

They are all so incredibly talented! I’m a Katie fan, but I can’t hear enough of Julienne, having trouble finding new words to describe this amazing young lady! The magic of her voice is like a spiritual experience! I have been fighting severe depression for several years after having cancer and I am finding an inner peace when I can clear my head and focus on Julienne sing. All the meds the doctors have thrown at me the last six years hasn’t been able to do this! Praise God above for the gifts he has blessed the Petersen family with, as well as providing the mechanism of RUclips to deliver their ministry in a way that all of us can have this experience! If not for RUclips I probably would have never known of these wonderful people!
You can see Julianne's confidence growing with every performance. I believe she's got much more to give and her best is yet to come.
Matt is so unassumingly competent that no one notices how excellent a guitar player he is. You are definitely a troupe of excellent musicians, but I think Matt is likely the most underrated of the group. I just really enjoy all of you. And you like to push the envelope a little, which is also very cool. Two thumbs up!
Agreed--Matt is solid and has a unique way of 'circular' strumming that brings out an interesting sound.
I totally agree! He isn't featured very often, though it always turns out well when he is. But he's the guy that brings the "pro" to professional. It's like few people notice the drummer, but where would rock be without him?
Same thing with granny on the string bass, a good solid professional doing their job.

Her voice is honest and authentic. Every time I listen to her sing, I am taken back to green country fields where I grew up. She is, as has been mentioned here before, unique and wonderful.
Julianne is swiftly becoming my favorite vocalist in the group. All are great, but she is special.

I have been thinking about making this comment for several weeks now and hope nothing is misinterpreted. Thank you Julianne for entertaining us in a way that is fun for you. Some parts of the song seem to have a sultry feel. I am NOT suggesting that Julianne change her normal participation in the Petersen Band but I find it hard not to dream several years down the road when Julianne might unleash her full potential as a solo vocalist.
After writing my comment above I have been browsing among earlier comments and finding that many of us have the same feelings about Julianne and her future. And yes I always enjoy hearing Matt when his guitar has our full attention.
All of the Petersens are very talented, but Julianne's voice is my favorite by far.

As I left London two weeks ago to star a foundation year at Falmouth University Cornwall England doing a film BA (Hons) course, this song sums up my feeling in so many ways and echo’s down the years when I first heard it. I think the meaning of the song comes through even more in the under produced way of just guitar and vocals. Your vocals Julianne are amazing and unique and worked so well for this song.

Julianne this an interesting and beautiful cover. I love how you boldly take on challenging material like this legendary song and work your unique voice to it. It reminds me of Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin and her mind blowing cover of Elton John’s “Your Song.” As others comment below, your two sisters have stronger more dynamic voices but yours has this special something about it. It’s really emotive. Obviously Dolores O'Riordan from Cranberries fame comes to mind. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s such a joy to have recently discovered The Petersens and your own channel.
