Thank you sincerely to both of you. I have been without lamictal for about 8 months.
I suffered the same feelings of disconnect described while on it. I somehow knew I needed to stop it in order to return to life and be a husband and father.
I will share this with my amazing wife wife who had to endure me going through the withdrawals.

Thank you for these talks! My husband is tapering now and it is hell. He has mood swings, panic attacks and amnesia and I am exhausted because I know whats going on. This is so hard. I am administering the medication now but before that he would binge on booze and valium while I was at work He became bed ridden and some times psychotic. I quit my job to help him so September 22 nd the taper really started so far it is better. These talks help me stay strong thank you.

im currently tapering down from valium, started at 25mg, got down to 5mg, then i went into a detox center because i thought it would be smart to get rid of the last 5mg in a clinic. well it turns out, bad idea. they tapered me down from it in a week. after leaving i got back up to the 5mg because i couldnt handle these unbearable feelings of numbness , feeling out of this world etc. now ill taper again myself very slowly down like i did before so i can keep up my normal life, buy groceries, have some phsyical activity etc.

I went back to zero a few times but never did i return to how i were before antipsychotics with long acting injections being the biggest offender. Everytime i went to zero i usually would have a 6 month to 2 year protracted withdrawal , recovery from iatrogenic injury and in my experience never recovered 100%. Just for being in the psych ward once (fault of the system) i lost all my friends, lost my career, relationship and were treated by others as a 3th class citizen.
After stopping psych drugs i usually suffered rebound symptoms 4 or 6 months later after long injecting injections even 8 to 12 months later which in my opinion is caused by iatrogenic injury. The reason i got back on meds the 2nd and 3th time is because they cold turkey me off drugs the first two. Right now i did a taper and i'm almost 14 months off the abilify maintena shot and still zero recovery

It is devastating and dehumanizing to have had to endure this I am so very sorry you were so badly injured. All is not lost. I managed to survive and am living my best life 4 years off. No question there are iatrogenic effects.

People get depressed due to life circumstances like being stressed at college and go to a therapist and end up on psych meds and then stay on them for the next ten years and it changes them more into a zombie without feelings. It’s like a trap waiting for people nowadays. Their face also changes and become more pale, pained and devoid of normal emotional expressions.

    • @dianemorrell9638
      @dianemorrell9638 10 месяцев назад +3

@@claireh.7605 i completely agree. it is a trap. Being powerless inside a psych ward isn't going to help anything and would be the most traumatizing event of anyone's life. It's not a life sentence. The brain is injured and needs connection and here you are healing. Your resolve is impressive.

@@dianemorrell9638 tbh, being on a psych ward actually seems to have helped several of my friends. I don’t thinks it’s too bad tbh, though I have never been and people online do say it traumatized them. If you are so serious that you end up in the ward, then being zapped with psych meds may be beneficial.

Hope there is an answer for you in this forum or elsewhere . I had a physical ailment - standard therapy had not helped. So I saw a licensed naturopath and had good results.

No! They keep going back to their psychiatrists! They should switch to a psychologist or maybe a Life Coach. The psychiatrist probably figures they must be wanting some more meds. Not every feeling needs a med!

Thank you. This is the kind of information that the community needs so much more of. When I started this journey, I kept reading that life would be a breeze on the other side. And perhaps relative to acute symptoms, it will be... but I did not consider the implications of living medication free, in a life I created while very low functioning. It is very messy, confusing and painful to be waking up after 30 years of polypharmacy. A whole new challenge I was not prepared for. Please have more of these conversations.

I believe you - My former boyfriend went through a terribly rough time when overdosed with meds; he became manic; no one believed me that it was not his fault. People blindly trust the Powers That Be not realizing that although they are well meaning mistakes can be made.

I’m sorry, was she CTd and reinstated or how fast was her taper? From what? This is such a miserable outlook. Many are polydrugged and say they felt mentally ill before they were medicated. Do you ever interview people who just had anxiety yet were put on benzos for years? This sounds so incredibly sad.

There must be certain supplements and things that work such as alpha lipoic acid, N acetyl cysteine, cholesterol, certain vitamins and minerals, ECGC, kratom, cannabinoids, nootropics such as noopept. basically similar supplements that are used in TBI (Traumatic brain injury), alzheimer dementia and parkinsons research. Anything that upregulates BDNF and NGF.

No, no, NO! That is because they have falsified the science to sell these drugs! Going back to the initial serotonin research is how I was able in 1990 to see that their serotonin hypothesis was completely backwards! You want to increase the .metabolism of serotonin in, it serotonin itself! Huge difference & there are new alteratives that are now looking positive!

That is exactly why drug-induced mania was the reason US psychiatrists refused to prescribe the SSRIs initially.
