LG, I think you could simplify the window panel installation by at least designing something that doesn't require the drilling and screws. Other than that, it looks like a nice unit.
Is the drain hose necessary?
@@jimmiller4743 From the looks of it, it appears the drain hose is used to expel the heat from the room to the outside. I think it's necessary.
I’m not buying a drill for this. The weight of the window will have to suffice to anchor the hose & panels in place. Make the hose more durable.

The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

Does it use filter if so how often should you change it?
LG l set the temperature to 60 and then it goes back to 86 and it stay on it all day long. It does not stay on what I set it on why?

Hi do you know how to set it to stop all together when the set temp is reached? because currently it just changes to fan mode when the temp is reached, i like it to stop completely and come back on when the room temp gets hotter again. please let me know if that's possible.

Yes because the portable AC is gathering air from the room and is pushing it out the window through the hose unlike a window unit AC

Compré una unidad de aire portatil, lo instale pero no trabaja normal, es decir el compresor entra por espacio de un minuto y sale. Quedandose solo en abanico por 7 minutos mas o menos y asi se mantiene todo el tiempo, por lo cual no enfria. Que puedo hacer?.

Ryan Schwinghammer not about laziness it's about the fact that it says it's portable yet the setup is presented in a way that it needs to stay in one place.
@@itisnottaken4444 really dumb. Conventional aircon you require professional technician to install. And it stays there at that same room with permanent drills into the wall. Portable air con can be moved to another room or location with no damage to current furniture and fittings or walls.
Alot of idiots here dont understand how an air conditioner works.

I'm confused, just watched this "portable" A/C advertised on a news program. It was under my impression the unit could be moved around. Looks like installing a window A/C is so much easier

And I don't know why all their videos always show installation in vertical sliding windows. Why would you even buy a portable a/c for these kinds of windows, when they are the perfect recipient for windows a/c, which cost 3 to 4 times less money for better performance.
Even the provided installation kit seems optimized for vertical sliding windows, as nothing is provided to insulate the gap between the two horizontal sliding windows. Heck, it would not cost that much to include something like a white pool noddle than you can cut to fit between the windows.
That does not make any sense to me.

Well, technically it could work with a dryer vent hole. But if you are to make a hole, just buy one of those wall-mounted A/C. They are much more efficient and less noisy.
Don’t buy. Had for a year and 2 months. The unit stopped powering on. It cost $700ish dollars. Now my options are to throw it away, buy a new unit, or spend hundreds and wait for parts to have it repaired ( by the time it’s repaired it will be after the hottest day).
It worked great till it didn’t, and they don’t do anything to help. Save your money go with another brand
There customer service did nothing to help. Trouble shooting is as basic as turn it on and off.

I did contact LG customer Care. They told me I was out of warranty and told me I’d have to contact a technician myself and have them look at it, then order parts that get sent to me, then I have to call another technician and have them install it. So after $100’s and a few months that isn’t a good option. I spent $700 and now I have to spend $100’s a year later because the device is defective?

We bought a LP1217GSR 2-3 years ago now, at the time of this review. I must say it is a bad product, here is why. The vent duct is cheap, falls apart in the first year, the unit needed to be moved a few inches ever day, and then moved back into place so we could service our bird. So it just crumbles away, the first summer, cheap plastic and design. If we ordered a new vent ducting, it would do no good anyway, due to the Cheap little attachment points and on back of the main ac structure, at least 1 of them broke right off. Maybe more buy now, I due not no because every we have Gorilla tape trying to hold the exhaust vent duct to the attachment point for this pretty much whole last summer. Every day I have to re tape it, the tape fails, probably due to the heat and pressure on the duct vent from the $700.00 after taxes main ac unit. So extremely lame design, for the vent duct attachment point. Also the unit's air compressor shuts off and the unit just blows out hot air. It is a terrible design and engineering this $700.00 piece of junk. I got one for myself maybe 10 years ago, no complaints other than the cheap lame vent duct that fell apart through out the years. Never move the unit, must be the big vibration when unit turns it self on and off, and the cheap plastic that did it in, as far as ducting vent. Unit still works great, just had to wrap the vent with gorilla tape last year, and little sections years ago. Unit will shut off and will not blow hot air, has a tough vent duct connection design. They have incorporated so much bells and whistles into them I noticed, maybe that is why they are so lame, and cheap, only last 1 year max. Also must not test them out, and girly designers. Products are supposed to improve, not go to hell in time.

This unit is not a heater. If you read the manual it is not for cooling, a dehumidifier and also a works as a regular fan. Mine works perfectly fine.
