    My parents bought me my first Judo Gi in 1988. Now at 42, I still love my Karate Fuji Gis from Hatashita!

    Thank you for the video and the formal explanation with the history. That was a real treat. I’ve never heard of this.

    We are lucky to have Hatashita in Canada. We don’t have much of anything martial arts related up here when it comes to judo/BJJ. Service is always excellent and they offer several payment options including financing through a third party.

    I see your point about the cross over and a good gi will have both sides level but others are at different angles, which looks odd. Great review.

    This is super helpful. In the market for a new gi and had been leaning towards the Mizuno Shiai.
    However is the Yusho a better quality gi? What are the differences between the two?

    • @sonnyforsberg9778
      @sonnyforsberg9778 3 года назад +2

      The shiai is a heavier (900 grams) gi that are not ijf approved. Yusho is lighter and approved by ijf.

    The most frustrating thing about martial arts gear is in the sizing especially if you're a big strong guy because they're all made for slender Asian frames. I'm 6ft tall 300lb with a 50" waist and only a couple products fit me but none of them wrap properly except ones I had to tailor down in height. All they do is up size the entire product... they don't make it for bigger stronger people so if I get a gi that fits me I have to tailor it down from the seven-foot-tall cut they deliver to your door because the ridiculous manufacturers just assume the same frame at the same standard dimensions rather than keeping it of average height/length and just making it bigger to accommodate a larger more powerful individual. When I was 350lbs I only had two gis that would fit and they were hard to find and exorbitantly expensive for what they were...Fuji 10 and MACS 12 (these were the largest commercial Gis available but of course they were cut for people who were 10 ft tall so they are comically long!

      bro you're not strong, you're just big.. maybe a bit muscular. But in any given time, a small frame 73kg Asian Olympic judoka EASILY can sweep down all your bodyweight and smash your ego.

      @@zikriwaie109 I'm big and strong just like heavyweight champion Judo grapplers but they get their gis custom made, I have to buy off the shelf and they don't make them for big strong men off the shelf because most of you average people are sporting tiny lil chicken legs😅
      big strong men are a minority group so less manufacturers accommodate us...its just that simple

    • @bb320
      @bb320 2 года назад +1

      you are not strong or big, you are just fat. It's not slender ASIAN frame, it's call atheletic build, ...If there is a standard gi that fits Teddy Riner, there will be a gi that fit a 6ft 300Lb dude providing that they don't have a beer gut.

      @BURGAWMMA 2 года назад

      @@zikriwaie109 Im 6' 300lbs with a 50" waist and 30% body fat... that's a common size for a heavyweight American wrestler and I have no problem fitting into any of that gear because it's American made but Asian made gear is too small for big strong American athletes. I remember the Samoans in Hawaii having the same problem... tiny little Asian gear is made from tiny little Asian people
