Great vid! Deer LOVE sweet stuff. I used persimmon Buck Jam in a northern state with NO persimmons and they TORE IT up! Pour it over homemade mineral mix sites. It works amazingly well!
Something that is overlooked a lot by people is introducing new things to deer. Anytime I have tried to put something new out to the deer, they either stay away from it or it takes them forever to come around it. The best thing to do is find things like in the area gather it relocate to a spot. I gather up white oak acorns from an area 1/2 mile or so from where I hunt. And scatter them around within shooting distance at my hunt location. It's more natural and it's not something unfamiliar to the deer. They are used to seeing acorns.
Just wanted to say I’ve experimented with the wild berry, apple and molasses attractants at different locations and all of them work great. The deer are just eating a whole right in the ground. Hopes are very high this upcoming season!!
Sodium carbonate...we use it for making our own laundry detergent...got recipe from a friend and then found one online. Better than and cheaper than name brand names.
I use this very close to a trophy rock or the home made "deer cane" i make, i just try and find a stump or rotting log for this, and i've even moved a log into the are if necessary.
Thank you for the good video sir. Do you have any tricks to keep the jello from coming out of solution? Mine keeps separating and collecting on the top.
not yet illegal to bait in NB so, we are free to use what we like, you would have to look into it on your end, i know in places you are allowed to put out stuff pre season, just not in the hunt
@@NBWildman check out the laws in Michigan you need a collage degree to understand the laws in lower Michigan baiting is legal in upper Michigan for now
Crazy, i know even how different they can be in places very close together, I live only 5 miles or so from Maine and it's illegal to bait there, but salt is ok some of the time i guess...
Kelly Belanger Funny you say that I live in NY. A few years ago I was going coyote hunting. I read the hunting syllabus each time I read it the more confused I was. I’m just a 12th grade educated construction worker. Good friend of mine has multiple college degrees he was over the house I asked him to read it. He’s reading for awhile l’m thinking he reads faster than me what’s taking so long. He looks at me and says I have no idea what the hell is legal and what’s not. He said different parts contradicts other parts. 5 years ago or so opening day of deer season bow getting in my car DEC pulls up behind me. He asked me what the hell I was doing I said it’s opening day I’m hunting. He said no it’s next weekend. Thank god i had my hunting syllabus with me, it had 2 different days listed for opening day in it. He couldn’t believe it he said he knew I was hunting and was going to ticket me. Every year it gets more confusing. I have a lifetime hunting for 15 years now only 2 I’ve gotten it in the mail this year it came 3 weeks late. When I try and get a replacement they try charging me $15 for a lost license it’s a nightmare.
hmmm high fructose corn syrup should be at every grocery store, i wouldn't use pancake syrup, it will throw off the fruity scent, but you never know...it might be better. lol
I couldn't find the syrups you mentioned fructose corn syrup or livestock molasses. So I bought the store brands corn syrup and molasses both were about $2.00. I did find boirock salt granules at WMt. In the sporting goods for $8.88 for a 10lb bag. Hopefully it will work. Fructopia nowhere to be found.
I couldnt find any High Fructose corn syrup either. I just used pancake syrup and see what will happen. I also just used concentrate fruit juice. I will let you know if i have any luck with it.
@@jamesamrein8298 I had a large pack of blueberry jello used it, but couldn't find fructopia concentrate so used I used 12oz apple concentrate. I poured it on a stump and camera about 20ft away. Will let you know what I find in a week or so.
I'm just curious since this is my first time messing with homemade attractant. Is the sodium carbonate not toxic to the deer as they eat it? I mean, if you're taking care to ensure their not ingesting anything bad by eating directly off the ground, is the addition of the laundry booster not bad for them aswell? Not criticising but genuinely curiouse. Cool content!
Sodium carbonate is baking soda and almost all commercial attractants have it as an ingredient. The laundry boost is actually all natural soda ash and deer seek it out naturally so we are just putting it in one spot to help them. No harm done
Hi! I was wondering, why using sodium (mono)carbonate, since it is NOT an alimentary product (the consumption should be avoided)? On the other hand, a sodium bicarbonate is safe for consumption.

if you use warmer water it tends not to congeal as much
Can you put this on corn?
Question how often would you refresh your spot with this mix
I'm from Manitoba. Love the videos! I'm just curious of legalalitys of using this ? As long as there's no trace of it when you hunt it's fine ?

Try buying "Redmond Fine 10" $11 for 50lbs of grinded trophy rock. Literally the same stuff but a much better salt supplement
Can I put this out mid season and it still be effective? Have you ever tried mixing it with corn to coat the corn with the attractant
should still work mid season, i don't mix with corn as it draws black bears here...

On the apple does regular sugar work or soes icing sug make different consistency
I like the consistency of the icing sugar personally,
Looked for the hunting salt at our Canadian tire they don’t carry i5 I guess! So table salt it is!
or regular road salt will work as well.

How long can you keep this?
And does it need to be refrigerate?
in a sealed container, should last for a long time, i don't see the need to refrigerate...

Once you have done your first batch, when do you replenish it?
I try and re-fresh at least once a month...depending on how many deer are using a site.

Is there a recipe for this with no salt
Yes it’s called make the same recipe and leave out the salt
@@17landry no crap but sometimes things don’t jive well or other ingredients are needed
@@17landry "Yes it’s called make the same recipe and leave out the salt" HAHAHAHAHA I literally LOL!!!!!!!
I would like to try this without the sodium carbonate. Is there a legit reason to add it to it?
it's a natural ingredient found in most of the commercial deer attractant products. so i added some into the recipe and it seems to work very well.
Would this attract raccoon as well?
I suspect it will...but if you want to target raccoon i would add in some vanilla extract
Awesome I'll give that a shot. Thank you
I put about a cup of flour and salt in mine !
Are you sure sodium carbonate is safe for deer
the ingredients lists on almost all commercial deer attractant list sodium carbonate as one of the main ones...

How long in advanced can this be made? I am assuming the sodium carbonate and sodium chloride act somewhat as a preservative.
I don't make it to long in advance, but i can't see why it couldn't be. i think as long as it was kept in a coolish spot it would be fine
