That is ridiculously dangerous what you did with the cigarette. Even more so that you didn't explain the dangers of having sodium in a normal environment.
Like you said Sodium mixed with water reacts, not just in flames but it can be explosive if the quantities of sodium are slightly higher than what you used.
Sodium reacts this way with water because it is part of the Alkaline group.
It goes like this:
LITHIUM
SODIUM
POTASSIUM
RUBIDIUM
CAESIUM
FRANCIUM (this is a radioactive element)
The more they go down in the list the more violently they will react. This means that in order to do that trick with the cigarette you could have used Lithium, which is safer. But it's still not SAFE.
The big problem with this is that any of the elements of this group will react with the smallest amount of water possible.
Be aware that the water can also be in gas form in order to start the reaction. These metals are usually stored in containers away from moisture most of the times embedded in a liquid substance to avoid contact with water. Some metals like caesium can also be stored inside glass capsules.
Whenever you cut into a piece of Sodium you are allowing one side to be in contact with the air, and if this air has enough moisture in it the sodium will react.
You should have said that even by having one of this prepared cigarettes in a closed cigarette pack can lead to serious injuries. Science is fun but it can also be extremely dangerous and this is an example of a really stupid thing to do. There's several other ways to put sodium and alkaline metals into fun and practical experiences without risking losing a finger or getting serious burns.
One more thing that you should have mentioned is that after the reaction that cigarette should be tossed away (in a safe manner and into a safe place) by lighting that cigarette afterwards one would be inhaling sodium residues which are also extremely dangerous.
The safest way to do a trick like this would be with light elements of the 2nd group. They react to the water but they will be very less likely to explode.

A great fire-starter and good to have in the medkit, I don’t think I can buy it where I am anymore though, when I was a kid (11-15 or so, mid to late 90’s) I could just walk into any chemist and buy a small jar for about 50p (I was an avid camper and Army Cadet) 🤝

3:22 Boiled-egg was sucked inside the conical flask due to burning of paper that caused momentary oxygen deprivation. A low-pressure, created the other way, should be able to remove the hard-boiled egg from the same flask.
