California DUI Law states;
It is unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or the combined influence of an alcoholic beverage or drug, to drive a vehicle.
CHP Officers are trained to detect drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis, and drugs (including prescription medications, some over-the-counter medications, and illegal drugs.)
Every year, more than 10,000 lives are lost due to impaired driving nationwide. The National Highway Safety Administration estimates impaired driving costs at $44 billion each year.
