The next album is Kissland, it is a masterpiece and probably the most underrated album of his. It will be another album experience that I think you’ll enjoy a lot just like echoes of silence.
Next Weeknd album is Kiss Land and it mostly keeps that same dark energy from Echoes of Silence so I’m sure you will love it. I love it and has my favorite Weeknd song which is the title track Kiss Land
if you were to react to another Weeknd album I highly recommend KISS LAND or AFTER HOURS. Conceptually, I feel like they are his best work (besides the trilogy)
I’m so glad you liked EOS it’s my favourite of the trilogy! One album you should react to in the future is Boldy James and Sterling Toles - Manger on Mcnichols. High tier jazz inspired beats and actually some pretty deep insight from Boldy with great raps.
@@thermitemound8754 For sure agree sounds different to everything else and has been in my rotation for the last 3 years. Love the middle verse and live instrumental in Medusa, goes absolutely nuts.
so i grew up with these records. i found the trilogy in middle school as they came out on datpiff. I heavily listened to them through then, highschool, and college. for years kissland was my favorite just because sonically it's much more of what i would've wanted to make. But since then I've come to realize the best stretch of tracks abel has ever made is montreal-initation. They're fucking perfect. I think you should juxtapose this project to kissland. Trilogy has this claustrophobic, debaucherous, toxic feeling. Kissland will be just as dark sounding but it will also be beautiful and vast, expansive, open, a lot of space in the mix. The writing isn't as strong as echos of silence but sonically it's incredible.
Another great reaction, Bob. But any update on where you'll react to 4eva is a mighty long time by big krit? I can't wait for you to hear it. I know you'll love it.
You gottaaaaa go through his discography in order!!! It makes After Hours (IMO his best album) hit so much harder. The order is: Kissland Beauty Behind The Maddness Starboy My Dear Melancholy After Hours Dawn FM Cant wait to experience you experiencing the world of The Weeknd!!
When you talk about an album being an experience, Beyonce's recent album Renaissance fits that description to a tea. Definitely an album to listen to at some point.
Before you enter Kiss Land I’ll tell some things that I think about as a Kiss Land album fan since 2014 (the first time I heard it). So the first thing that is that you’re gonna love it or hate it. In my opinion nothing between this, it’s really dark and cinematic, eerie, haunting and it was inspired by horror filmmakers that Abel was inspired while making this album. CAN’T WAIT FOR YOUR REACTION & INTERPRETATIONS & FINAL REVIEW. Also I recommend listening to this album couple times cause every time you hear it, the more cool details you will notice and probably will like or hate the album more. I never got tired of any song on this album and it’s on repeat since 2014. XO💚 PS. If you can’t understand some things I wrote then I’m sorry but English isn’t my national language and I sometimes make mistakes :)
I would highly recommend to keep going in chronological order of The Weeknd’s discography. His evolution from House of Balloons up to his last album Dawn FM is incredible and paints a riveting story of The Weeknd’s character which seems to be an exaggerated version of Abel himself. Kissland should be up next 🙌🏻 As for other artist album reactions: Faces by Mac Miller should be prioritized. You will absolutely love that one!
I watched your reaction to my beautiful dark twisted fantasy and you said you haven’t listened to the court of the crimson king l. It’s a must listen. Not sure if it’s something you’d do on the channel but either way you should definitely listen to
If you want a trap rapper who has a concept, and follows through and tells stories in a serious, cheeky and sometimes fun way. I would suggest 21 Savage. He has joint album with Drake, which he makes better but what I would suggest Savage Mode or Savage Mode 2
I know you don’t normally do just tracks without album reviews ( tho the album the song I’m about to recommend is considered a gangsta rap classic getting 4 and 1/2 mics in the source the same number the infamous by mob deep , only built for Cuban Linx by Raekwon got as well as southernplaystic by Outkast all received) . I digress despite knowing your about all gangsta’d out at times I proudly recommend “ The Gangsta, The Killa, and the Dope Dealer by the group Westside Connection off their self titled debut album. This is Ice Cubes super group with Mack 10 and W.C that was formed at the height of the “east coast west coast beef “ partly in response to i used to love H.E.R. By Common. Not only is the song super fun gangsta rap cosplay with each artist articulating a day in the life of the gangsta stereotypes from the title ( think fun like the more impressive and best get rich or dyin tracks) it’s only made more impressive by and here’s the kicker for You an ominous perfect sample flip of Hurt by NIN that was maybe a year after it’s release so way before the later fanfare related to the Johnny Cash cover. I really think you’d dig it for that alone despite you adversion to gangsta music that and all three mcs are on a tear all album long it’s one of the last great Ice cube performances after he started acting more then rapping and starting being known more for touring with Korn and doing are we there yet movies then doing hip hop shows. If you do even if you don’t do video for it love to hear what your opinion on both the sample flip as well as the track itself ! Big fan since early on and a Patreon as well . Keep doing your thing and by all means continue chronologicaly doing the entire weeknd discography it’s super fun and evolves quite a bit even if for the most part he’s subject matter doesn’t the next one is generally considered his somphore slump album entitled Kissland it’s closer in subject matter and feel to the trilogy then later more poppy works but he had went from homeless kid in Canada to world tours including extensive time in Japan which is an influence as well some of his first experimentation with 80’s style synths he specifically mentioned John Carpenter flicks like Halloween and the thing etc from that time as influence I think it’s still actually very cool and overhated imo even if nowhere as good as the the earlier mixtapes it’s much better then it’s reputation would lead you to believe and even it’s failure would be important in his career as it’s what made him and his label to call in the Max Martin and other pop type super producers for Beauty behind the madness which is his third lp which is where he really crossed over mainstream and paved the way for the superstar he is today . Kissland is great in its own personal way even in failure as it’s the last full go round for the toxic no fucks given asshole crooner leaning fully into the mixtape bag there is traces of it going forward mixed in with hall of fame pop ballads and party anthems but Kissland is he last truly full sonic douchbaggery lp of girl I’m getting you fucked up im cumming inside you and not going half on the morning after pill type anthems lol before he had to be slightly be cleaned up for mass consumption lol
was waiting for trilogy to be finished cause i’d knew you’d weirdly love initiation now gotta wait till my 2nd fave weekend project my dear melancholy hopefully it jumps up in rotation since it’s a short EP
hey Bob! you gotta check out Sean Leons new album. it came out today and its easy aoty contender for me, insane production and interesting lyrics. its kinda underground though
