September 13th will be my one year anniversary of Emmie's SOS plan. I am living proof that Emmie's plan works! I lost about 15 pounds on SOS and have been able to maintain this lifestyle very easily for the past year. It isn't a diet but a lifestyle. I still listen to my hunger cues, ask myself if I would eat veggies and I keep it simple. My go-to meals for Meal #1, veggies, oatmeal, blueberries, cinnamon, flaxseed, 1/2 banana; Meal #2 is usually a large salad with white beans, mustard, vinegar, Nooch, cumin dressing, potatoes and an apple...I KISS for most of my meals even a year later. For the most part, I eat just 2 meals a day....however, on days that I feel hungry, I will have some carrots and a couple of potatoes or some rice, beans, and veggies. I will be 67 years old in a couple of weeks, weigh less than what I weighed in high school and feel like I am "living the dream!" It is my dream to get certified in plant-based nutrition and encourage others of my age group to live a healthier lifestyle....Oh, my hubby "jumped on board" a few months ago....he lost 45 pounds, lowered his blood sugar, blood pressure and has cut back on his medication...he is the lean, mean machine I married 33 blissful years ago....Thank you, Healthie Emmie....you are awesome! Sparkles, joy and blessings! ✨🎉🙏💕
Sharalyn!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I feel like I’ve known you a lifetime! I can’t believe it’s only been a year! You are an incredible testament to this lifestyle and you deserve every ounce of health and happiness you’ve cultivated for yourself 🥰
I wish my hubby would go over to this lifestyle-I have been with Healthy Emmie for 6 months now and I’m at my lowest weight EVER!!! No dieting just eating good nutritious food -I’m able to jump and run around with my grandchildren -SOS is the only way to go!!!!
@@debbiebaker68 I know how you feel! I love this lifestyle and have been eating SOS for 1 1/2 years now. My hubby didn't come "on board" until he started having some health issues. That is when he asked me for help. He still is following SOS for the most part but is a little more relaxed than I am with his meals. Recently, he landed in the hospital with a staph infection. I was so grateful that he had been following SOS as I feel that his body was stronger to fight the infection. He is still not "out of the woods" as the infection is in his spine. Fortunately, he is home and eating healthier now than in the hospital. Good luck with your journey. Maybe one of these days, your hubby will "see the light!" Sparkles, joy, and blessings! ✨🎉🙏💕
As a new subscriber, I’ve been binging your videos, and I have to say that I really appreciate how much info you pack into your videos without wasting a bunch of our time. And it’s great info!!!
Emmie, I’m rather new to your channel and this video is one of the best I’ve watched so far. Excellent tips and easy to understand explanations why these suggestions are critical to long-term weight loss. I’ll continue to re-watch over and over again. Thanks for sharing the “pearls.”
I started doing the starch solution and I lost 40 pounds!!! I was so excited but i started paying attention to all the people who kept telling me I was wrong and doing bad things to my body. I have put back on almost 20 pounds by eating the way others think I should. I have been so happy to have found you and a few others that eat this way.
Love your hair!! You are amazing!! Thanks for sharing! I have lost 43lbs so far. Mainly by eating potatoes and rice. I still have 10lbs to go. Love your videos. This way of eating is really simple! 😘🥔
Thank you for these videos. I hear a lot of people talking about overeating, but I am having the opposite problem. I had trained myself a few years ago not to snack between meals. Since I started the starch solution, I have been eating 2-3 meals per day, but I am still hungry a lot. I have trouble eating more even though I am hungry. I get really hungry at night and wind up going to bed hungry. I came from a diet with a lot of meat and oils and now I can see that I got my calories from these things. I don’t want to eat so much. I literally get tired of eating.
Firstly, You, young lady, have the MOST beautiful chestnut colored hair on RUclips. Secondly, this video was especially eloquent and packed with so many great and sensible concepts in order to gain HEALTH and as a by-product drop any excess weight in the process. Dr. John McDougall would be proud of You. Thanks Emmie for sharing. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
I don't understand Emmie's viewers obsession with her hair. Great video beautiful, lovely and gorgeous Emmie. Haven't had vegetables in my first meal of the day ever so I am going to have to change that. Love 🥰this video and love 💕 Emmie.
Hi Emmie! Thanks for this video - I’ve been following you for a couple of months now and have mostly adopted the vegan lifestyle. Your today’s message was timely as I have gained weight on this plan. What I have lost is pain throughout my body! I have leukaemia and the cancer and meds cause considerable inflammation and inflammation becomes pain. I didn’t immediately notice that I was pain free until I hopped onto a bench and hopped back down. I’m almost 60 - I don’t hop anymore! I’m still struggling with craving sugar so I’ll add the greens to my first meal - how do I add that to oatmeal?!?!? Thanks Emmie - I love your energy and information! Anna
Hello 👋🏻 I’m just curious… does this help people with autoimmune diseases/PCOS? I find that if I eat a lot of grains and fruit I tend to gain weight xx
What if your work schedule forces you to eat your first meal and second meal at a certain time? It's not always an option to interrupt your workday once you are hungry.
I think I love your videos so much because I'm sitting in the choir seats. Yes, you have ideas that I haven't heard before and which I sometimes incorporate. But--birds of a feather and all that.
Love everything u teach . I have 1 bad habit that derails me week after week and I need help to break that habit . Also affects my mood when I step on the scale everyday .
Whatever derails you probably has salt, fat or sugar (or all three) of some variety. Get rid of all three and the problem will probably take care of itself.
I’m confused. You say to eat a green vegetable with your first meal but then you speak about what you and your mom eat and neither of you have a green vegetable. Is that because you’re just in maintenance mode and you’re not still trying to lose weight?
Oh my gosh- I love you- can I do this.. yes!! I can!! I need to be your client…you are such a sweetheart and a caring woman with knowledge and compassion for other women- it’s so nice. Are you taking clients?? Can you please let me know??
Emmie, thought you'd get a kick out of this...my stepfather went for his regular check up with his doc who told him he has to lose 100 lbs. The doc told him to eat meat and veggies..no carbs!! Can you imagine! When we they get educated!
To lose the most amount of weight fast, should I have more vegetables than starch? Also could you do a meal plan video for those in school because I’m not sure what to pack for lunches and I don’t have long to eat lunch either. It would really help:)
So in the starch solution book Dr McDougall actually says never to have less than half your plate be starch and that starch in your diet is crucial. Youay find without enough starch you don't get satiated and end up eating more or maybe even binge. For maximum weight loss he recommends half your plate be starch and the other half non starchy vegetables.
What frustrates me is that every diet video I’ve seen focuses on how to lose weight. How about people like me who are chronically underweight ( 60 years old, 6’ and 137lbs- the same as when I graduated college). I would need a massive intake to have the kind of caloric surplus necessary for me to gain. How do I do that healthily? Maybe eat tons of barley every day like the Roman gladiators?
Hi Emmie! So I have a question, but it's not related to weight loss necessarily. Hi have knee surgery coming up in three weeks time and I just want to know if there is anything you would do differently or specifically nutritionally speaking of course to 'prep' for it. Like add certain foods, or eliminate certain foods or anything like that. Thanks!
I love your channel. I came across it recently and have been bingeing on your videos. I really like your advice about having the same thing every morning. For me, that's half a cup of oats, 1 cup of soy milk, and 2 large bananas or 3 medium to small ones. The challenge for me is that I also eat twice a day for intermittent fasting. I would like to add something that is non-vegetable to that to make that meal more substantial and filling. Can you recommend something?
You said no veggies, but I've come across recommendations of adding cauliflower rice to the oatmeal. Apparently it takes on the flavor of the oatmeal well. I've seen a 1:1 ratio, but you can try a smaller amount and see how you like it. 😊
Emmie, your hair! va va voom.. can you do a video on low Fodmop veggies with Starch Solution since some of us have major digestive issues with beans and garlic and crucificerous?
I had to look that up. For those who don't know what fodmap veggies either, it's foods like squash, kale, eggplant, carrots, bell peppers, green beans, spinach, artichokes, mushrooms, asparagus, and snow peas. Thanks for helping me learn something new today.
I don't know where you are in your food journey, but this is a great plan for your goal. Look up videos that talk about calorie density for more understanding. I think you will be so happy with the amazing variety of food that you can eat, and surprised by the amount.
