Bro Matt and Tai are the Goku and Vegeta of digimon. The others don’t matter fr, that’s why we’ve had entirely different shows instead of just making side series about existing characters.
I'm pretty sure I read in the full Digimon Partners entry that the rest would also appear. Or at least, "Agumon-tachi" seems to imply "Agumon and co.", so, all eight of them.
Maybe. We'll see. (In that case, I wonder what Sora will do.)
things i would like to say about the project:
- i'm almost certain that they are going to ignore Kizuna's events in Adventure Beyond. if there are any new fight scenes, Agumon and Gabumon are probably going to show up with no mention of their disappearance in Kizuna. there just isnt enough time in one short music video to address how Taichi and Yamato (Sora too) would get them back, and the whole "digimon vanishing when their partner grows up" wasnt apart of Kakudo's vision for the DigiDestined as adults to begin with if I recall correctly
- i'm also quite certain that its just gonna be about Taichi and Yamato. Not gonna cry about it, since the cover art and character designs for this project clearly advertise it as just for Yamato and Taichi. We're probably gonna get 3 second cameos from the rest of the Chosen and their lives during adulthood.
- Yamato's design looks sick, I love how he swaps between two hairstyles (ignoring the fever dream that was Tri), he had spiky hair for 99 and Kizuna, while he had this current hairstyle for 02 and Beyond
- Also, knowing how much TOEI likes to milk adventure, they may go an entirely different direction with this whole short video: making it a prologue to a new Adventure anime series/movie that's announced on January fifth. In the hypothetical that this were to happen, I'd probably feel conflicted. I'd be sad that the other continuities aren't getting as much love, but that frustration would probably be overshadowed by the fact that we're getting ANY sort of Digimon series with modern quality animation. That's how desperate we Digimon fans are
I love Adventure as much as the next person but can we get a new Digimon series already.
Do you guys remember Dark Gennai from that Digimon Adventure tri. anime film series (sometimes referred to as OVAs) and do you guys agree that it sucks that he got Karma Houdini? I wish he could've returned in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning so that Davis/Daisuke and the others could defeat him for good and give him the Karma Houdini Warranty that he deserves.

I hope someday there will be a tenth Digimon anime series after the Digimon Ghost Game Anime. It would be great if we got another Digimon Anime.
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a Digimon Anime that has a villainous organization with it's members being humans who own Digimon? I mostly thought of this from the *Explorers* (led by Gibeon) from Pokémon Horizons (Anime) which (obviously) has humans who own Pokémon.
That would be very awesome to see Amethio like character in digimon
You know, there IS one in the lore, called the Crack Team. It's just that they've never really done much with it
Me here, just wanting a Liberator anime, maybe a Seekers, or new original work. No hate Adventure, it's a classic but there are only so many times they can bring it back and that actually interest me before I just get tired. Like the Kanto fatigue of Pokemon.
Given how Tri and Kizuna turned out i'm will to try anything.

My guess is that either this short or that other project is going to deliver on that reunion hint from Kizunas ending, showing how that will tie in to the epilogue.
It's not a brand new anime, but I am still happy with this. And after the Studio TRIGGER Transformers 40th anniversary video and One Piece Fan Letters I have faith this is gonna be special

A music video just showcasing the characters. I’m all for more Adventure stuff (keep them coming) but just a music video was so disappointing (cause of how much it covers) but with this franchise I take what I can get.
When I heard Digimon Beyond's announcement was bittersweet, first exciting about the continuation on Adventure timeline, possible reunion with digimon partners after Kizuna, thanks to the hope in "The Beginning". But when I heard its only a music video, felt disappointed and confusing, because two movies end with a short music video? I was kind of hope its going to be a new anime series or a final movie. Especially we have to wait until next year March to find out. Only with OG series director Kakudo Hiroyuki returing, still have hope, maybe this music video is a "preview" for the real upcoming project, fingers cross, guys!
Yeah, if Kakudo wasn't on board I would not take this seriously. But his involvement one year after talking about his vision for adult Digimon Adventure has me very interested!

Haha maybe just the people you talk to...the last few years (Kizuna, 02 The Beginning) have really emphasized that the epilogue is legit. They're committing to that thing.
I just want 02 The Beginning to reach the 02 epilogue and hopefully new Digimon anime that has nothing to do with Adventure afterwards.
Maybe Aguman came back during the eggs given at the end of the 02 movie??
@TheDragonaf1 This short takes place before the epilogue. So who really knows.
I never knew about the whole deal with Kakudo, now I'm dying to know what his vision for the future of the series was, and sad that he wasn't part of Tri. Things could've maybe been way better with him around

I prefer something new, but this being a short video directed by Kakudou I guess it's neat. I really hope they let OG Adventure rest moving forward, and maybe just revisit the series very ocasionally with this little projects. Not gonna lie, at this point I feel more nostalgia about the different Digimon series gathering together like the various 25th Anniversary projects, rather than Adventure alone per se.
Only a few more years and I never have to hear about the 02 epilogue ever again
Off topic comment: This whole commotion about Digimon Adventure Beyond and generally more focus on either this or Digimon Seekers gives me sad conclusion that Toei trashed Ghost Game universe fully.

All I care for is a short 2nd season of Ghost Game. Which will probably not get made. BUT I WANT IT DAMMIT
i hope toei concludes adventure so that it can move on to digimon tamers.
With that said, i heard rumors online about the director's (Kakudo) vision of wanting the digimon to be considered non-digital creatures, but instead alien/ mythical beings. If this rumor is true, i think its a conflicting concept to the social media, since according to the digimon franchise lore via card and video games, the digimon are essentially A.I creatures.
However, digimon adventure's story does follow a more mythical adventure, since the children did use magic crests and their channeled emotions to make their digimon stronger which is in contrast to Digimon Tamers which essentially labeled the digimon A.I creatures in which the children used technology to help their digimon to effectively fight.
I mean, they did something like that in Survive, and it was at the end of the game where Digimon were "digitalized"
January 4-5th is when Digimon TCG Nationals takes place in Orlando Florida so perhaps there will be some sort of announcement there.

I hope to see a movie going back to the Tamers universe to see what became of the characters after parting ways with their Digimon and if they ever saw them again. heck, I would love to see a crossover with an adult Tai meeting with an adult Takato.

Was surprised that there's more for Taichi, Yamato, and their Digimon partners after Last Evolution Kizuna. Thought the film is the series finale.
Still holding on to hope that we get something set in the reboot universe one of these years.
Would be nice! Not a perfect show but the hate for it is overblown imo. Not immune to criticism but I enjoyed it.
I wish they'd stop focusing all of their attention on Adventure and give Tamers a sequel for a change.
I am also not a fan of everything post 02 media. 4 holy beast came from the original chosen children instead of frontiers, 2 new Megas for agumon and gabumon are not biomerge, a new tamer with angel digimon (and it's not lopmon) that merge with ophanimon, omegamon merciful is supposed to be a fusion of all 8 instead of just seraphimon + ophanimon + omnimon fusion, retcon the ending by supposedly have their partners disappear forever, all of it.
In theory my real vision of the future would be to bring back apocalymon in some form like battle of the tamers. Make omnimon an official royal knight. X antibody digimon. Hikari and her connecting to the dark area. Maybe bring back demon. Lots of potential

I think I'm the only person that DOESN'T want a Tamers sequel. The series was great and had a good ending. It doesn't need a continuation.

Digimon Adventure tri tv series, and Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna movie are kinda non canon for me, since we already have the perfect ending in Digimon Adventure 2 that gives a satisfying conclusion to all of our heroes.
Tri wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst and I can accept it as canon, or at least canon-adjacent. But Kizuna and Beginning both mess too much with established canon for me to recognize them as anything other than glorified fanfics - at least until something is done to retcon the issues they introduced.
Great! They're going back to those whack designs like tri. Kizuna and beginning looked perfectly like the og style in a film format.
Tri and beyond don't look like digimon at all.
This feels as crumbs for me and of all of the Digimon series this one being the one I am sick of, if at least were crumbs of Tamers or an animation of the new digital novels I would find it exciting.
Bro I am so tired of them rehashing Adventure over and over and over. It's just as bad as Transformers being chained by the balls to G1, or Pokemon having their throats bound via chain to Kanto Region pokemon. Can we PLEASE get some love for other seasons? Like damn, give me a reboot of Frontier into a better story.
Look of its for annyversary of adventure I'm not againts them using the character just wished for a kind of crossover with the other sagas
The Beginning was a fantastic first step into leaving behind the gross, cringey, tryhard, needlessly grimdark, and entirely out of continuity nonsense of Tri and Kizuna, and doing a legacy/nostalgia sequel justice. Hearing this news aboot the original series director stepping up for this short or w/e it is is fantastic news. I'm hopeful that moving forward they can do some much needed course correcting and closing the gap to the epilogue of 02. We may not know all their plans at the moment, but it's pretty damn obvious that Adventure and specifically Adventure series animation will continue to be a major lynchpin of the brand and a primary focus for creative hires into the future. Whatever they have planned for January and March we can't say for sure, but to doubt there will be another legacy sequel in the near future would be frankly foolish. As sure as the sun will rise again, we will see Adventure get milked. It's just the way of things.
So we don't know when it will happen, but it will happen. And I'm absolutely ready for whatever it is they're trying to cook up over there. Digimon is finally growing up, and I'm so here for it.
