Have you noticed that L1 and R1 had to be pressed hard in order to keep aiming? For example if you’re pressing it normally it’ll keep aiming and cancel aim but if you pressed hard it’ll keep aiming Especially in MGS and Resident Evil games
Awesome! Retro Fighters has been killing it lately! I will be picking this up for my PS3 along with their wireless Gamecube controller. Now if they would only release a wireless Brawler 64 with built in Rumble I would be all set. Nice to see the support for retro consoles alive and well and it looks like Retro Fighters is leading the way!

I'd like to see Retro Fighters make an Xbox controller with bumper buttons and a C and Z button to act as original Xbox black and white buttons. There could be a switch that let's you toggle between having C and Z work the same as LB and RB for Xbox gaming and having them as independent buttons for PC and retro gaming.
The one that was designed for the PS2 had a horribly large analog deadzone for shooters. Are the analog deadzones much more sensitive now? You can test this in rpcs3 pads section and easily see the difference if so due to how bad their ps2 deadzone was.

@@user-en5gu3dd9j I have bought the BT controller and I have not used this controller in a long time sadly. I was hoping it would work but when I used wireshark and spoke to developers it seems unlikely pc will ever get dinput. So I honestly cannot tell you if the l1 pr r1 are good anymore. What u say matches my experience of xbox like bumpers though instead of playstation l1/r1 so I can believe the issue occurs ofc.
Another good video. You and I seem to have extremely similar controller views and I like how you test the pressure sensitive buttons on both Defender versions so much. A lot of people gloss over that, but it's so cool to have two controllers that can be complete DualShock replacements on both platforms that are currently manufactured. Hey when you streamed the other day you mentioned you could use some button combo to adjust the rumble - is that correct? If so, do you know how to do it? Just curious as I have a lot of their controllers and never heard of that before.
Was sixaxis bad? I don’t hate it. Sweet! Does it work if you plug it in after you a reset console? You know how it needs a ps3 controller for startup.. just a question.
Oh well...Sixaxis? I have 3 original PS3 controllers, 2 only work wired and 1 wireless, but I have to fix the wireless one. Tomorrow will go to town and visit some stores to fix the left analog stick. Not gonna buy yet a new controller, only if I find a cheap $20 PS4 no brand wireless controller on one of our Amazon Returns stores.
Hi, thanks for the video. The button in the middle of the controller, works as a "home" button like the dualshock 3? the dualshock 4 and dualsense doesn't have the "home" button for PS3
I am amazed by the controller as I had last year bought a few Dualshock 4 controllers and those were "fake". Retro Fighters BT does replace my Dualshock 4 controllers. Plan on getting another one next month.

Does anyone know if this controller is compatible with the PSTV out of the box? Most 3rd party controllers won't connect to a PSTV wirelessly without running it through some sort of adapter. I realize it's not advertised as being compatible, but wondering if anyone has tested it out themselves.
Since you said that it registers as a ps controller on PC do you know if emulators like rpsx3 recognizes it as such and allows you to use six axis controllers on the emulator?
- Stick Deadzones are terrible - Sixaxis kinda sorta works - Pressure sensitivity kinda works - Dpad doesn't pertrude enough - Feels uncomfortable to hold with the angled shoulders/triggers Not worth $50
Thanks for the detailed review, especially in regards to the pressure sensitive buttons and the motion controls 🙂 In regards to the pressure sensitive buttons, the review seemed to imply that they might not work on PC out of the box with emulators. Does it seem like the controller would be compatible with DsHidMini (and optionally BthPS3)? If DsHidMini recognizes the Defender Bluetooth as a "standard" PS3 controller, that might hypothetically allow for pressure sensitive button functionality in PCSX2 and RPCS3, at least (since DsHidMini is designed to work with those emulators).
@@ArchadesGames Thanks for checking that out. That's unfortunate to hear; I was mainly considering using the Defender Bluetooth and its pressure sensitive buttons for PS2 and PS3 emulation on PC. Hopefully someone's able to come up with a pressure-friendly solution (whether it's Retro Fighters themselves or just someone in the community).
@@ArchadesGames Thanks, that's good to know. Actually, that makes me think: maybe the non-pressure issue is specific to the USB connection? I wonder if the Defender Bluetooth were somehow connected to the PC via Bluetooth (like maybe using BthPS3), would DsHidMini be able to pick it up then?
Hello, does this controller work with the Sly Cooper series? I have tried DualShock 4, DualSense, and Stadia controllers and all the games have given me a "No Controller" error. I'm hoping the Retro Fighters controller solves this issue.
It's hard to find dualshock 3s that aren't either fake, broken, or super expensive. If you know where I can find a good one I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
I appreciate it, unfortunately I don't have a code for the Retro Fighters site I have linked in the description. I have affiliate stuff with Amazon amzn.to/3KokNth Or ARCHADES at CastleMania Games gets a 10% discount on most items!
@@ArchadesGames I ordered it on castle mania games Thanks since you are the one who told me about this controller you should get something : ) . Thanks man.
@@ArchadesGames It magically fixed itself overnight, but I have no idea how. They sent a new one in the mail no questions asked. Good customer service.
Had some questions in the comments about PS3 safe mode and PSTV support. Unfortunately neither are compatible with the Bluetooth Defender.
The controller doesn’t work on the PSP Go ether. Errors out at the end of the setup

Still loving this on my PS3!

Congrats on 38k subs !
Pressure sensitive back paddles would be a good addition

Awesome review video bro!!!! I wondering does it work on mobile phone or tablet since its bluetooth controller? Thanks keep up the great work!👍👍🥳
Yeah it hooks up to Android fine ateast
@ArchadesGames Awesome Thanks bro!!!!
I want to see how well this works with Call of Duty ps3 games.

It doesn't work natively on the PSTV

Yes

It boots the PS3 but it doesn't work in safe mode

Did you ever get a PS5 to test this controller?
- Stick Deadzones are terrible
- Sixaxis kinda sorta works

Do the pressure sensitive buttons and 6 axis work if I connect this to my PC over Bluetooth?
No, it uses XInput for PC
Lame. I need something that has 6 axis and pressure sensitivity for rpcs3 and pcsx2 and the old defender doesn't have 6 axis
Use a DualShock 3 or PS2 Controller/Defender

@@ArchadesGames that’s great. A lot of other Bluetooth controller won’t work with it so I have to go back to a OEM controller to quit my games.
Sticks aren’t correct on it. Go play cod then chime back in. That or I got a defect.
