  • @Muonium1
    @Muonium1 8 месяцев назад +17

    There is something so peculiar about Japanese safety culture, or more accurately put, the conspicuous lack thereof in industry. For instance it is extremely surprising that in such a wealthy and technologically advanced society they are still having welders use old fashioned dark glass that has to be manually emplaced and removed from the welder's face every time an arc is struck (5:10) and other welders using nothing at all but their own closed eyelids and averted vision when they weld (7:00)!! This in an era when instantaneously auto-darkening photovoltaic cell powered LCD protective welding goggles can be had for literally about 10 dollars on any of the usual retail sites. It is inexplicable why a business would persist with such old methods when options of far greater safety and convenience for workers is readily available at a pittance.

      @hromeoperu 8 месяцев назад +2

      Honestly, I don't understand it either. But I do know that the japanese tend to be skeptical about new methods and processes. Which is in the least ironic, having in mind that Japan is known for being a technologically advanced country. Well... that certaintly can't be said about their factories, unfortunately. The most affected are the factory workers, as seen in this video (and many others on this channel).

    • @iatsd

      Every country has it's peculiar safety foibles or work habits. In the US, for example, it is *VERY* common for wrkers to not use ear protection. You also won't see void safety netting on SFH building sites in the US when they put up the second floor or roof. Same for tools and ways of using them. The Japanese won't go near nails on most construction, whereas you couldn't get a US builder to use screws for residential construction even when they're specified on the plans. Handplanes used in joinery would be another example of simple difference.

    • @iatsd
      @iatsd 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@teeklerlee5847 Yes, because "Asians" are all the same, aren't they?
      In my experience, the Japanese will adhere to the contract signed. They'll bargain hard, but once agreed they'll almost always deliver. Chinese companies will rob you blind by ignoring the contract if it makes them a profit. And it often doesn't matter if you watch them. Taiwan is close to Japan in contract adherence. Vietnam and Thailand are quite variable.
      Having said that, the US is almost as bad as China. They will often cheat on the contract, and they will almost always steal IP if you're a non-US company.

      but imagine the great dishonor of using an automatic welding mask. japanese companies won't change so much as their brand of toilet paper without the company president personally announcing the decision and apologizing to all the workers' families after seeking spiritual guidance at the local shrine

    Não duvido da competência japonesa naquilo que faz, porém, faltou um pouco de marketing na apresentação do produto.
    Ora, era para ter colocado na cadeira no teste final, uma pessoa obesa em torno de 100 quilos.
    Se subisse levemente com 100 quilos, óbvio que mostraria suportar menos peso, a exemplo do (peso) pena desse senhor do vídeo.
    A realidade precisa ser mostrada para a tomada de decisão de muitos filhos de pais idosos (e obesos) que há no mundo, que passam o dia no andar térreo, e dormem no primeiro andar.
    Outra coisa é o preço, e os contatos dos locais de venda.
    Parabéns!. Abraço cordial. Salve Maria!.

    It pains me to see such negligence in production. It is clear that the plant was designed by smart people - convenient fastening modules, hangers and other equipment... But they couldn’t give the welder a normal protective mask?! And when he welds a gear rack without a mask at all, covering himself with a visor?!
    A strange decision to spend time and effort wiping the pipes before bending. Afterwards it will still be covered in grease from the machine. It would be logical to only clean the welding zones, and then at the very moment after welding. A lot of time is spent on sanding before painting; sandblasting machines were invented for this long ago.
    Terribly high paint consumption. Zones like those shown, with air blowing and a wall of falling water, are used for painting only large parts; painting pipes or other openwork structures on them is unprofitable - 90% will settle on the filter and not on the part. For such structures, airless sprayers with a small spray should be used.
    Painting surfaces that will be constantly under load... This is the height of idiocy. The paint will fall off the rack after 3 uses of the lift. The paint will peel off from the top of the pipes after a month of use. And since the materials are simple iron, and not a stainless alloy, it will begin to rust. Isn't it cool? Staining red, flakes of paint on the stairs, the same look... This is clearly visible at the “testing” stage.
    Separately, regarding the “test”. Checking without load? Seriously? What is its point, to give the appearance of work? Obviously, the seats themselves are not made at this plant, which means the most they can check is that the motor turns on. A test bench is not needed for this.
    Well, the finished product... I never understood why the speed of assistance for the disabled in Japan is so low. It takes almost half an hour to climb 3 floors! A normal lift in other countries will operate at the speed of a normal pedestrian, not 10 times slower!

    • @iatsd
      @iatsd 8 месяцев назад

      You missed the part at the beginning where they told you that this isn't their main line of business, right? I guess they *could* speed the tens-to-hundreds of thousands of dollars on specific plant for bending and painting as the test the market for a new product? That seems sensible, right? As for the production process, wtf do you care if they clean it multiple times? Wht TF should there be grease on the bending blocks? The last fvcking thing you want on a bending machine is grease on the contact point that you're bending around, *especially* heavy gauge steel tube like that. It will rust, will it? Galv steel will rust? What sort of fvckwit would suggest using stainless steel pipe for a product that needs *bending* and then is placed under stress?!?! Galvanised steel pipe is a far better choice. As for the paint, it will depend on the paint. I would have thought a electrostatic applied or enamelled paint would be more durable, but paint's not my thing really - I do know I've seen plenty of chairs like this with years to decade+ use that still have the original paint on them; wear tracks from the rollers, for sure, but he paint hasn't failed or "simply fallen off within 3 months".
      I guess you're just an expert on paint as well as manufacturing processes *AND* engineering *AND* equipment choice *AND* safety testing *AND* design *AND* QA, yeah?
      And you are simply wrong about the speed at which the lifts operate in other countries. The lift speed shown is not outside the norm for that style of lift - and you have no idea if the lift has alternate speed options available. But hey, let us all know how much of an expert you are on everything and why we're all wrong based on a single video.
