I've known you since elementary school and ran into you in undergrad. You are still the same, very modest and kind human-being @Beat the Bush. Happy for your frugal ways and success.
Oh, goody! I was looking forward to this! I have a 20 year old tshirt. Its in decent shape. I got it secondhand from the university I worked it. I need to go through my clothes and shoes again soon. My BJ's membership saves us a fortune.
I have a garment I bought when I was pregnant with my son. He's 34! I would not dream of giving it up. It's a one-piece jersey sortof jumpsuit thing, only it's shorts. It has a drawstring at the hipline and so I have always been able to wear it as my weight went up and down over the years.
We are lazy, we use our dishwasher about every other day. Love the dishwasher. This Maytag has been in use since around 1996. Other than a few replacement items over the years, the DW keeps-on going. I bought the parts at eBay or Amazon and I installed them.
I have a set of pjs that I regularly wear in the winter that, I noticed from photos, were what I wore coming home from the hospital when my son was born…25 years ago. They are made of thermal waffle knit and the lilac color isn’t even faded. The cloth isn’t noticeably thin either. Best value ever. 🙂 I really enjoy and appreciate you both on RUclips. Great collab!
Long time fan of the you and the channel. Not really a big fan of almost 1/4 of the video being ads. Either by you or by RUclips. I get it you want to get paid. But I’ve noticed this being a recent trend here. Just wanted to let you know how things are being perceived as the viewer. Thanks for all you do.
Except when the dishwasher breaks and needs repaired or replaced. We chose to not have one in our new very small house and wouldn't trade the valuable cabinet space for a dishwasher.
Based on my calculations, solar panels are a bad investment. There are installation costs, maintenance, decreased panel efficiency over time, lack of resale value/liquidity, lack of diversification, as well as changing utility company policies (as Prepper Princess pointed out). It could potentially make sense in an area with high tax incentives, high sun exposure, low installation costs, and a utility company that pays well for surplus electricity. However, few areas fit these criteria. If you want to go green and reduce your dependency on the grid, then that's great. But as a pure investment, solar panels have a bad risk/reward ratio.
There are fine lines between frugal, cheap and miserly. Using the dishwasher a few times a week, but in off-peak hours with discounted soap is frugal (me). Using it when you really feel it's necessary is cheap (maybe once/month). Only using it as a dish rack is miserly (you). When being so cost conscious that it starts occupying too much attention or being a constant problem you've gone too far IMHO.
It actually pays to run your dishwasher rather than always hand washing because the dishwasher doesn't cost very much to use if you heat your water via solar or use off peak electric to heat your water. Hot water is the biggest cost to running the dishwasher. Also your dishs com out clean and disinfwcted, not to mention the savings in time and the longer life of the dishwasher.
How often does California get blackouts? Seems really frequent. I can't believe California is even considering going all EV only by 2035. Doesn't seem to make sense given your lousy power infrastructure.
Maryland is as well and h solar and EVs make little sense. But our virtue signaling climate change extremists don't understand engineering or economics. All they understand is they don't like the energy companies and capitalism.
Have either of you had people not want a relationship with you due to your life styles? Example, her only bathing every three days or you guys keeping the house cold. Would you change your habits if you met someone that used a dishwasher, washing machine, used the heat, etc. If not, have you thought of getting another job to make more money so these everyday things you could use or are you happy by your self?? I can't imagine me being with someone who only bathed every three days. Anyway, interesting video.
I think she would change to accomodate that person. The person will also help pay the house bills each month so it's not like any of it will cost more even if the heat is turned up etc. Two people living together and sharing expenses is always cheaper. She has loads of money (a millionaire as she says). She'll probably save the money like that until she passes because it's her form of happiness and security. I'd rather spend the money and enjoy life while I can and be poor when Im old.
@@nu5045 I personally know a lady that has made good money throughout her life and now she’s broke, homeless, and daughter took all she could take from her and their relationship is bad. Now the nearly 70 year old is living with her older sister.
I like to be millionaire and FIRE without being frugal. There's a lot of other ways to achieve it. I don't find joy in scrimping. Intentional spending is my go to.
I want a UPS. But I want a 1000 watt. In Ca the power outage struggle is REAL. Fires, extended 100 degree days, high winds…all have caused outages over the past 5 years…a lot of outages.
I think everyone should have a UPS, it seems weird not to have one. No one likes losing power and the internet goes out, so just buy a UPS from APC and just hook your router and switch up to it then you have internet for upwards of 3hrs. Anything longer than that, just buy a generator and run an extension cord to all the most important items.
I think all solar should installd with the battery system. This would relieve stress on the grid. Of course the solar/battery must automatically isolate itself from the grid during power outages.
@@deborahlozano7134 Yeah, that was a beaut. She has the video on her channel. It was maybe 4 or 5 years ago. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was titled something like, "Did I go too far?" Something like that.
@Katy Katy Back in the day, she was kind of relatable. Now, I find myself hardly ever searching out a video by her. Apparently, she's now a "millionaire." She even had her advisor guy come on and vouch for it. So she tries to fit that bit in every chance she gets. She's changed a lot, it seems, and not in a good way.
Both of you are single with no children - I doubt a family could relate to much you do - so this really isn't helpful - BeatTheBush were your parents frugal do you have brothers and/or sisters - Please share
totally agree, if you not even willing to spend money on toilet papers, wait till you see how much it costs to use dippers, child care all the way to the astronomical college tuitions..
If the “green” people are so concerned about the climate, they should outlaw disposable diapers and baby clothes. All the fecal mater in the landfills is despicable. Use cloth.

Guys, that was tasty. I had no idea you knew each other. To be honest, I found out about the young man through Princess.
Love these collabs. I think it would be great to have you host each other for a meal to show frugal entertaining.
That would be interesting, but I doubt that they ever entertain. They are both too frugal.
The basket of citrus looks amazing. Hope you two go all out and feast on those. Great collab Part 2.
:) Great to see both of you! Can tell Amber enjoyed it MUCH too! ALL the BEST and Cheers! WELL DONE!
Nice to see you two together. I follow both of you.
Nice collaboration

Great Collab!! Double the Trouble 🙂
I can be frugal with everything else except food. I like feeding my family healthy organic non GMO. Grass fed beef wild salmon etc
Would love another colab with the 2 of you. Came via Prepper Princess 😊
Hey, and The real winner is beatthebush as he has no pets, no pet food, no pet litter and no pet insurance. Congrats BeatTheBush🎉🎉🎉
The ultimate smack down!
Omg dream Collab!!
It's called a transfer switch. Great video!
Both are good but my money on prepped process there are differences
i use a dishwasher every 3rd day on a full wash i live on my own so not a every day thing

agree, in-video ads seems to be at a point of annoying rather than just being promotional
Solar, just use 5 hous a day, since if panels are static, not going to get full power all the time.
A dishwasher is way more efficient than handwashing
Depends how you do them. Im a minimalist. It takes me minutes and very little water to wash my daily dishes.
Except when the dishwasher breaks and needs repaired or replaced. We chose to not have one in our new very small house and wouldn't trade the valuable cabinet space for a dishwasher.
You have to figure the cost of the dishwasher in the equation. I doubt it's cheaper if you figure that in
Jchong that’s ridiculous
If you're a single household, handwash. If you have more people (I have 4) dishwasher is faster and likely uses less water
Well I'm not rich, but I use a lot of paper towels, I'm always using little pieces of paper towels to make them last. Always buy the cheap ones.

I agree. I would not pay for on grid solar but again, they came with the house. I WOULD pay for my own small off grid system though.
If you have an EV its better.

You usually get them more often away from the main cities.
Hand washing dishes uses more water than hand washing.

Your body is healthier if you don’t bath/shower everyday. You wash off beneficial bacteria.
