    DJ, Clump scenery material in a bowl with white glue, I never thought of that, brilliant :-) I'm looking forward to that video as I still have a hillside to do on my layout and I've been doing it the old fashioned way of gluing individual pieces to the hillside, very time consuming. Your method looks great and probably took a quarter of the time I've already invested in the one hillside. Cheers, Rich S.

    DJ, for added texture would you consider sprinkling fine ground foam to your homemade foam, while still wet, after applying it to the hillside?

    Hi Dj, if you going to use plastercloth try finding it online at a medical store, waaaay more cheaper than rhe woodland scenics stuff and its c ompletely the same. Dont get me wrong, I love Woodland, but I find it here in Holland rather exspensive so I ordered at a medical store, two rols 4" wide and 20ft on a rol for just under 4 dollar I pay at least triple that ammount for the woodland scenics stuff, sorry to Woodland Scenics, but in Europe its quit exspensive. And that goes for Evergreen stuff the same.

    Great video! Most channels (including mine) would have milked that process over 10 videos. You did it in 10 minutes. Looks great. You’ve given me some ideas. I’ll have to find some lighter weights though. ;) -Mark

    Hi DJ!
    I watched you add the thin glue mix to the loose gravel. I've tried this technique for years now, and everytime my work dries, the gravel is always a darker color, looking like rain just fell, and not a dusted, dry look.
    Is there a way to avoid the darker color when it dries?

    • @djstrains
      @djstrains  6 лет назад

      I didn't notice it with gravel, but I noticed it with fine dirt sometimes. Thats a good question, that to be honest, I don't know yet. If you find out, let me know. I have tried sand, and that didn't work well because it sparkled.

    • @michaeldiehl5690
      @michaeldiehl5690 6 лет назад

      Hi DJ. Thank you for your response. Yes. I will certainly let you know if I discover any techniques that can be used to make this better. Have a good day!

    • @stavio12
      @stavio12 6 лет назад

      Michael Diehl, hey mate, try brushing the gravel with an earth colour, either yellow or burnt sienna pastel. Crush up the pastel to a powder and use it to lightly brush the gravel. I got this idea from a great Australian modeller Luke Towan (he mainly does great tutorials on dioramas for scenery). Check out his vids, you'll get some great ideas. Cheers

    Nice video, DJ! I like that clump foliage idea. I'm all for cheap! For gluing extruded foam, I used to use Liquid Nails for Projects. It took a long time to dry, and I just wasn't real thrilled with it. Then I saw this video: ruclips.net/video/rnOegaOKu38/видео.html She did test on various adhesives for foam, and Glidden Gripper primer paint was declared the winner. I bought some, used it, and I will never go back to LNfP! This stuff works! A thin coat between layers, and when it dries you will destroy the foam trying to get it apart! I got mine at Menards, but it's available all over everywhere. Give it a try!

    • @djstrains
      @djstrains  9 месяцев назад +2

      I have no control over the ads. No one does. It’s all based upon google who owns RUclips, not creators.
      What sucks is I have videos that aren’t monetized but RUclips still runs ads in the middle of a video and it ruins the flow
