My friends dad said he saw them in a small ass club in 1997 after the release of their self titled record and the floor was literally shaking when they played girls and boys
Dave, I think, is an underrared drummer! A very good performance! Why I was born too late?😢 I would like to see them live in the 90s! I don‘t know, if the grammar‘s right, because I‘m from Switzerland…😂 Damon is soooo pretty! I love him!❤
Was there! I faked a British accent and said I was "With the band.." security let me in! I remember the scorching heat. Every bottle of water he threw on us was desperately needed!
Love the bass-heavy mix on this. It made me realize that Alex is a way better player than I've ever given him credit for. If he actually wrote those basslines for Damon's songs he's a hell of a musician. Some really creative stuff going on.

For UK people wondering you have to realize the scene in America at this moment was basically very 'dark' so to speak. It was basically Grunge/Alternative/Industrial/Gangster Rap. Nine Inch Nails/Smashing Pumpkins were at their peak here and Blur was the complete opposite of the scene and didn't have a shot. A perfect example of this is comparing Blur and Bush at this moment in early 1996. Both British bands but Bush was getting huge in America around this time and was playing small clubs in the U.K. whereas Blur had the opposite being huge in UK and nothing in the U.S. (to be more exact America, Australia and Canada all had more similar music scenes at this time)
What I don’t understand is, how are you gonna piss on the band you PAID MONEY to see? It’s like punching yourself in the balls and being like, “God damn it, I just punched myself in the balls!”

What a bloody brilliant performance by Blur. I mean the crowd were crap but their camaraderie as a band shines through. I’m sorry they went through this but they played brilliantly regardless. I’m glad I got to watch it so thank you for posting.
Whilst not acceptable I think breezy homophobic language was way more prevalent during the 90’ but it tended not to carry the same weight or intent or even really mean the same thing that it does now. It still sucks to hear people shouting dumb shit like that though.

This is a gig I wish I’d seen. The idea of blur playing a 300 cap venue is unreal when they were doing arenas and stadiums over here.
I was at this show, the rentals opened up for them. It was amazing. A few months earlier radiohead played this same venue on the bends tour
