I downshift too. I'd rather be ready to accelerate safely out of trouble at any time. As you said, "No abruptness" is key. We can stop much faster than most car drivers and many times they aren't paying attention. If we stop at consistent and gradual speed, it forces the cars to match our speed. Obviously, if something jumps out, emergency stops are required. Just try to avoid abrupt braking when possible

I liked this video. I'm scared of downshifting see I have not been on a motorcycle for 30 years. I have been always riding push bikes though and horses cows ice skating but gears on motorcycles are confusing because it's practice totally riding without that stomach lurching feeling because on a push bicycle, there is more or less everything going on but at a more reasonable control meaning being able to be more able to svoid obstacles, curbs etc. Cos knowing that I still could go off confidence to me, well feels better. I get really bothered about this speed and it's just because of being afraid of everything different however, it's not really is it? I sm worried more because it's heavy and I fear slipping the gear shifts. Hmm. Stop thinking about it, I should just get some CBT. You made me! 😂❤❤❤

At first you said some people are getting taught to put bike in neutral & coast to stop sign or stop lights & you said its bad advise , then you said its when you downshift to first gear & coast 🤔😵‍💫🤔😵‍💫 & if lights turn green & if your going 30 the bike will hit hard 😵‍💫🤔😵‍💫🤔

Hello. What I was trying to relate was as you approached a red-light slowdown and down shift to the gear related to the speed that you're approaching to the light and not to coast. As long the MC is not in gear there is no traction on the rear tire and you're prone to drop your MC. If you have to stop at the light. Use the Friction Zone at the end just as you're putting down your feet and braking. It's a timing thing with coordination. That's where practicing come in to feel confident and to be Perficient. I practice slow, quick maneuvering often to keep my skills and balancing up.

I know but my stiff boots are hurting my ankles as I am trying to brake them in. Suppler boots give more sensitive controlling. You don't want to be learning in a pairvof stiff boots as it's an incumberance and dangerous. And painful so it's not good if your a newbie with a new pair of riding boots. And as long as the high tops are really good to learn for this person, well I disagree wearing the right gear at a serious cost to performance and comfortable consistent gear shifting than getting a pair of reinforced metal toe jabbed under the gear pedal or missing it completely.
