I love that he bought that piano in December of '22 for Till Then. He has used it in a few of his videos. Wonderful sounding. Geoffs' early access sometimes asks for our opinion and if he needs to tweak anything, he asks us what we would like to hear next or we vote for songs and we even get to vote on thumbnails and text used. Geoff and Kathy do a great job on the behind-the-scenes videos.
I think that Kathy mussed his hair. I had noticed the setting made me think of his High and Dry solo, but missed that you both were matching the setting as well. Have you reacted to The Lion Sleeps Tonight? VoicePlay is also independent and it does make a difference. When Chicago caught their Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), the got hold of VoicePlay and wanted them on stage when they were in NJ for the Chicago and Friends concert. Their trumpeter was sitting beside Geoff when VoicePlay was doing one of their songs looking at him like "How do you do that?"
Remember when he did Till Then at the beginning of last year? He said that he was going for the sound of a grizzly bear singing a lullaby. I think that's what he got this time, too. Voiceplay's new one should be dropping this week. Be prepared!
Thank you so much for this reaction. It’s amazing how Geoff can make this song uniquely his while paying absolute respect to Chris Isaac’s original. Geoff, in additional to all his other amazing talents, is one of the best arrangers around. And he’s a genuinely nice guy IRL. I wish only the best for Geoff.
Great reaction!! The way you two responded to it was more or less my exact experience with this song as well. This is a piece that the folks on Geoff's Patreon have been requesting for a long time, and which he said he wasn't going to do. Kept *insisting* he wouldn't. RIght up until he did it, and on the Patreon premiere he admits that he actually enjoyed it after all. He really is a an enormous talent; a genius arranger, and a vocalist like no other. By the way, if you haven't seen it yet, VoicePlay recently covered "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", and it's such a happy, feel-good video that I'm certain it would be your vibe. It's the sort of thing that absolutely begs for several viewings; there is an awful lot of silliness going on throughout!

To paraphrase her, she could see Geoff sitting in a chair in a dark bedroom with a light only on him looking at his lady asleep in the bed and we are listening to Geoff’s thoughts about his feelings. I have watched a lot of reactions to this song and every one of them was appreciative, and thought it was beautiful. But watching you was almost like looking into a mirror. Your expressions were exactly what I feel was on my face. This was absolutely heart wrenching and stunningly beautiful at the same time. Why are some of the most beautiful songs so darn sad? (And you should absolutely wear the same outfits when you cover Marwan Ayman’s cover of Black and White.)
Have you ever seen/heard the cover by HiM? It was previously my favourite version before this but I think the reason was besides the rockier take it was also Ville Valo’s low bass tones too. Geoff’s version is just velvety smooth 🥰😂
For some reason, the setting of this video reminds me of Geoff's Shenandoah video. I don't know why it reminds me, since virtually everything about the two videos is actually different, but I can't help but get those vibes.
