You’re correct but he still does serve as the ultimate antagonist for season 12 posing a obstacle for the ninja to overcome. You’re still right though, I just was saying even that while he may not be a villain he is still in the antagonist role for his respective season.
Hot Take: The Tournament Of Elements was easily the best season. A very funny interesting villian who plays a good role in the storyline, introduced some very good side characters, and although Garmadon's Sacrafice could've been avoided, it was still a very good ending too the season and it also introduced Possession's Villian plus story line as a whole
Not gonna lie, Zane was the most Green Ninja out of all of them. He tried to turn anything into a teaching moment ( i.e.; when the monastery burns down ) and he was shown to be a pretty above average ninja. Also when Sensei said, " There's something special about you, Zane. " I thought it could have been him. Also he was the Ninja to defeat the Dark Lord in the end, so he technically fulfilled the prophecy by surpassing all others and defeating the Dark Lord. After all, he was the one who read the Prophecy of The Green Ninja.
I actually think Kalmaar has a very good motivation. He sees humans as invaders who took their realm away from them and took most of their kingdom away from them and forced them to hide. It makes totally Sense that he wants to destroy the humans, and in order to do so he has to kill his father and take over his kingdom. In my opinion he has one of the best motivations for a Ninjago villain
Yeah I agree with you, same goes for Morro and Nadakhan because they had a MOTIVE which is good for their character arc other than having the motive of just seizing power and taking over ninjago or whatever which is just repetitive at this point 🙄

I hate how people don't like wu. Hes a classic character and a really great one, and honestly some of the stuff is just poor writing with the writers dumping a bunch of exposition on Wu about a villian in his past. Ninjago's writing is usually really good for a kids show though.
Thanks for including my hot take and you are right: I don’t see a lot of people talk about the fan service in March Of The Oni but to me it really stands out in the season and is one of its biggest strengths. I also agree that March Of The Oni gets too much of a negative reception and you know what, I agree that my issue with the season has more to do with how short it is than it being rushed.
Morro is a great villain! I feel like the overlord is sort of the demon of the Ninjago universe so he has to be horrible and not understandable, but I respect the opinion
Hot takes : cole should be the orange ninja .Orange color looks nice on him and kinda also resembles lava/magma while black doesn’t really suit him ,cuz it feels odd out of the colors like green (lloyd) ,blue (jay) … ( also his rx powers are orange )
his rx is actually yellow now as you can see motm when he uses them in rock bottom and while orange is his favorite color i feel like orange should stay his secondary color with black as his main color.
It seems that most people here don't understand Kalmaar's motivations so I can break them down: Kalmaar was essentially right in his motivation as keeping Wojira under his control would expand Merlopia and eliminate competition with the surface. Of course, having no regard for the Merlopians themselves and the surface-dwellers is immoral but Kalmaar finds that they are only obstacles in improving Merlopia. His main hindsight was him losing control of Wojira, which would eventually destroy both the sea and the surface.
I do wish we got more with Kalmaar's reasoning for taking over the land, like was his mom killed by "surface dwellers" and that drove him to learn about Wohira/Wojira. Nya is not dead at all, just transcended. This time around some very spicy hot takes so good picks. And yeah, I wish they had focused more on Zane's visions, like him trying to warn the Ninja and only when he's gone that the Ninja realize how they should have listened to Zane thus motivating them to stop being lazy, especially for Kai. Which is why Kai and Zane should have had the final battle in the Ice Chapter(which I plan on writing in my version of season 11)
HOT TAKE: i think the double digit seasons correlate with the order of the single digit seasons in terms of overall theme, mostly. 9 and the pilot both were to do with dragons, 10 and later parts of one with garmadon, 11 and parts of 1 and 2 to do with serpentine and samurai warlords, 3 and 13 to do with some form of tech, 4 and 14 to do with an iland and tribal theming, 15 and 5 being the most ambitious and supernatural and possibly cinematic of them
I fell like people don't understand the newer villains Kalmar wants to rule the land not for power but reverse and return the realm to what it was water and islands he feels like their realm was stolen because the fsm came there they had to hide and lost a lot of their kingdom he also sees that they deserve to rule because they are superior and the surface dewellers took their realm away from them and he does get close to achieving his goals because wojira floods the place and getting rid of the king makes it easier plus he didn't view his father as a good ruler he is a good villan and one of the best to be produced as of late The skull sorcerer is also great He is a bad guy because of the vengeatone it is the source of income for the kingdom of shintaro and he enslaved the munks and geckels because well they are not human and we do similar things to animals He is also entertaining to watch And he also decived the munks and geckels buy stealing their blades and making them blame each other making it easier to enslave them without having them make a rebellion together and escaping which also shows that he is tactical and smart also the reveal of him being vania's father was shocking and unexpected I could write the rest but I am too lazy I just feel like some of these newer villains are being slept on and underappreciated while they are not as good as Nadakan of Morro there are still some good ones
Hot take: season 11 is not supposed to be hated for its animation, fillies episodes or even the whole fire and ice chapter thing, I hate it because the season was said to be about Kai and Zane, but Lloyd was the lead of the season.
I think Tommy can make a Ninjago version of the Loki TV show but the protagonist is Harumi. (Yes, a TV series about her!) If Tommy Andreasen doesn’t have any idea about how to bring her back, I suggest him to try this. (Because the question of her that she is really dead or not is quite open-ended. She could die for a moment first, and reborn because of something.)
Hot take: I think Nya’s elemental theme shifting to some weird generic aquaman style water control is weird and out of place in ninjago, especially the sea life manipulation. I think her powers make more sense as MK Rain style water elemental abilities.
I don’t like Lloyd, but before you hate me let me explain my reasonings. Number 1. I feel like Lloyd is the dominant character of about 8 of the ninjago seasons way too many for one character. And yes I know he’s the leader but come on, in every season he’s the leader, all the other ninja get reduced to almost a side character especially Kai. Kai literally used to help run the show but now he’s been reduced to the comic relief. Number 2. Every major conflict with Lloyd has some sort of scene with garmadon like when he fights the overlord dragon, or sends him to the cursed realm, or when he finds his dad in the premanant, OR season 8, 9, and 10. Seriously can Lloyd get 1 solo season without having daddy issues. Number 3. I did not like Lloyd ever becoming the green ninja because he was quite literally a trouble making, good for nothing little brat who was destined to be the green ninja because he had the first spinjitzu masters bloodline. Did no one see this coming. Like master Wu has to be the dumbest person alive if he didn’t consider a RELATIVE of the first spinjitzu master over these random teen elementals. So all together my thoughts on Lloyd is to... STOP TAKING ALL THE OTHER NINJAS SCREEN TIME. Because the seasons or episodes I actually like gives each ninja respectable screen time. Or even equal screen time. But having episodes after episodes after episodes revolving around one character is just boring and not something I like seeing. So yeah I’m done ranting.
Nya and Lloyd should be sidelined more. They’re both over developed and the original four ninja deserve more consistent focus and love in the new wild brain seasons.
Kai was the main character but now he is just a side character and comic relief. Zane was weird, but cool and smart, and now he is just a robot that does nothing. Cole was a brave leader, and now he is comic relief like kai(season 13 is an exception). Jay was funny and inspirational, but now he isn't funny like he used to be and pretty generic.
Cole should’ve become the green ninja, he was the best ninja out of the original 4 before Lloyd came in the picture, he is the most focused and has the least worst moments. In earlier episodes where the 4 ninjas was fighting about who was gonna be the green ninja, Cole was the least needy out of all of them, he cared more about the team working together and working to better him and others. Let’s not forget he was the original leader before Lloyd came in the picture.
Hot Take: Get rid of Master Wu. It’s not because I hate the character but it feels like he out stayed his welcome in the show. You can kill him off for good or Master Wu can just retire becoming more of a side character. Which will allow other side characters to get more development.

Also, in season 13, it was quite depressing watching someone who was once so respected and wise act pathetically like that. It just really felt off and was hard to watch as a long time fan.

I hate them because kids under ages of 16 shouldn’t know hurtful words or death meaning yet. They are too young! It even affects me! And I’m 18 almost 19! And ninjago has been something special in my heart since 2011 when I believe I was ether 11 or 12
They’re really similar, yeah, but here is some difference: -Morro worked for a master -Possessed Lloyd not because he was the green Ninja and wanted to prove destiny wrong, he did it so that he could remove the Ninja’s powers, and gain access to the realm crystal. -Getting revenge on Master Wu being a side quest, Tai Lung had that as one of his main quests.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates Kalmaar he literally just hates land dwellers for no reason. Pythor hated land dwellers but he had a good reason and that was that they locked them all up and killed all the Anicodrae. He was basically Pythor with a stupid motive that made no sense.
Blazing hot take: I didn't think Zane's sacrifice was sad. It didn't impact me emotionally almost at all. Why? I knew he'd come back. It's a children's show so there was pretty much a 0% chance he'd stay dead. Sure enough he was rebuilt at the very end of the episode. I still think it's a great scene, just not in a sad way.

okay Hot Take Rise of the Serpent and Seabound have exact same plot - Ancient Ninjago race wanrs to destroy thr humsn world. - The Use agiant snake that only grows stronger the more they fight it - Both monsters main weakspot is in their foreheads - One of the 4 main ninjas' ally makes a big sacrifice to stop the beast - One of the main 4 ninja's ally is the one that defeats the monster - The main antagonists gets devour by the monster If it werent for Nya's sacrifice Seabound would have been more critize as it shamlessly recycle the plot from the 1st season.

HOT TAKE During Skybound season it is never Acknowledge that the Ninja committed genocide on 2 realms. During possesion they destroyed the Curse realm when they defeated the Eminence and killed all the ghost in that dimension, including Garmadon. With Skybound we learned that when they did that the indirectly caused the destruction of Gin-Jago as they were sister realms, thus indirectly killing all the innocent Gin within the realm.
Hot take: Lloyd should have an evil brother and here's the story to him before Lloyd his parents had another child and they saw evil in him unlike Lloyd who was more like his mother he was like his father so they had him put in the departed realm he figures out how to get back to the over world and used his power of darkness to take over Ninjago it would give garmadon a chance to come back and it would give Lloyd more character development

Season 9 was kind of a homage to season 2 they both show the original ninja training a kid with blonde hair that ages up fast and become special warriors

March of the Oni made a mistake. The Overlords golden chest plate was small enough to fit a average person in Season 10 MotO when it was destroyed and huge when it was on the Overlord in Season 3 and dyk that the Overlords helmet from Season 3 was the size of a minifigure or an average adult in the show.
And my response to the Kalmaar hot take, he thinks that the surface and its life on it is a pointless meaning to his cause. In shorter words, Kalmaar thinks the people on the surface are purposely trying to hurt the ocean, so he wants to take it all. If this makes sense.

Ok probably my least favorite villain is nadakhan, by the mid to late point of the season he’s just unlikable to me. When rewatching the series I’ll typically skip to the last episode cause it’s probably the best one in my opinion, I don’t really mind season 7, I like how we finally got to know ray and maya, sure they never were that important but I’m glad we got them, the hands of time are more like a grandpa and grandson for very obvious reasons and i liked how blunk amd ragmunk were pretty much incapable of doing their only job, my favorite villain that is still a villain? Idk, my favorite villain to ever be a villain? I can’t really say, I don’t really know, first like 4 seasons it’s no doubt garmadon with the overlord in close second, Chen is in last to many fans displeasure, he’s ok, not nearly as bad as many others but villains like pythor, garmadon, overlord, etc are much better in my opinion, s5-7 no doubt morro, he’s good, nice backstory, ghost, cool power, that NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ME, PERIOD! mentality. Great villain. The oni trilogy, harumi, just saying it right now I am a harumi fan. 11-13 it’s the skull sorcerer with ice emperor in second. Kaalmar is a good black and white emperor palpatine style villain, do we know his motivation? Not really, do we still like him as a villain? Yes. Overlord for s15 cause it’s s15 there’s literally no new characters I can think of.
Back when i was younger the Pilots just came in Romania back then i couldn't watch it anywhere else but Cartoon Network i saw the Pilots as an enjoyable way to spend some of my free time but when Season 1 came out in my country i did not liked it at first but the more i watched the more it charmed me the reveals like Zane being an Nindroid or an "Ninjabot" how i called him back in the day since then i watched all of the seasons But after i finished Hunted i kinda left Ninjago but once seeing all the good stuff that i lost i felt bad and now i wanna reconcile with the series and watch everything i missed any suggestions

I do wish we got more with Kalmaar's reasoning for taking over the land, like was his mom killed by "surface dwellers" and that drove him to learn about Wohira/Wojira. Nya is not dead at all, just transcended. This time around some very spicy hot takes so good picks. And yeah, I wish they had focused more on Zane's visions, like him trying to warn the Ninja and only when he's gone that the Ninja realize how they should have listened to Zane thus motivating them to stop being lazy, especially for Kai. Which is why Kai and Zane should have had the final battle in the Ice Chapter(which I plan on writing in my version of season 11)
HOT TAKE: i think the double digit seasons correlate with the order of the single digit seasons in terms of overall theme, mostly. 9 and the pilot both were to do with dragons, 10 and later parts of one with garmadon, 11 and parts of 1 and 2 to do with serpentine and samurai warlords, 3 and 13 to do with some form of tech, 4 and 14 to do with an iland and tribal theming, 15 and 5 being the most ambitious and supernatural and possibly cinematic of them
After Harumi they’ve mostly been generic villains. We need more villains with complex motives like Harumi or Nadakhan

I fell like people don't understand the newer villains Kalmar wants to rule the land not for power but reverse and return the realm to what it was water and islands he feels like their realm was stolen because the fsm came there they had to hide and lost a lot of their kingdom he also sees that they deserve to rule because they are superior and the surface dewellers took their realm away from them and he does get close to achieving his goals because wojira floods the place and getting rid of the king makes it easier plus he didn't view his father as a good ruler he is a good villan and one of the best to be produced as of late
The skull sorcerer is also great
He is a bad guy because of the vengeatone it is the source of income for the kingdom of shintaro and he enslaved the munks and geckels because well they are not human and we do similar things to animals He is also entertaining to watch And he also decived the munks and geckels buy stealing their blades and making them blame each other making it easier to enslave them without having them make a rebellion together and escaping which also shows that he is tactical and smart also the reveal of him being vania's father was shocking and unexpected

Hot take: season 11 is not supposed to be hated for its animation, fillies episodes or even the whole fire and ice chapter thing, I hate it because the season was said to be about Kai and Zane, but Lloyd was the lead of the season.
I think Tommy can make a Ninjago version of the Loki TV show but the protagonist is Harumi. (Yes, a TV series about her!) If Tommy Andreasen doesn’t have any idea about how to bring her back, I suggest him to try this. (Because the question of her that she is really dead or not is quite open-ended. She could die for a moment first, and reborn because of something.)
Hot take : Rebooted is one of the best seasons but Zane being alive at the end ruined it

Hot take: I think Nya’s elemental theme shifting to some weird generic aquaman style water control is weird and out of place in ninjago, especially the sea life manipulation. I think her powers make more sense as MK Rain style water elemental abilities.
I don’t like Lloyd, but before you hate me let me explain my reasonings. Number 1. I feel like Lloyd is the dominant character of about 8 of the ninjago seasons way too many for one character. And yes I know he’s the leader but come on, in every season he’s the leader, all the other ninja get reduced to almost a side character especially Kai. Kai literally used to help run the show but now he’s been reduced to the comic relief. Number 2. Every major conflict with Lloyd has some sort of scene with garmadon like when he fights the overlord dragon, or sends him to the cursed realm, or when he finds his dad in the premanant, OR season 8, 9, and 10. Seriously can Lloyd get 1 solo season without having daddy issues. Number 3. I did not like Lloyd ever becoming the green ninja because he was quite literally a trouble making, good for nothing little brat who was destined to be the green ninja because he had the first spinjitzu masters bloodline. Did no one see this coming. Like master Wu has to be the dumbest person alive if he didn’t consider a RELATIVE of the first spinjitzu master over these random teen elementals. So all together my thoughts on Lloyd is to... STOP TAKING ALL THE OTHER NINJAS SCREEN TIME. Because the seasons or episodes I actually like gives each ninja respectable screen time. Or even equal screen time. But having episodes after episodes after episodes revolving around one character is just boring and not something I like seeing. So yeah I’m done ranting.
Nya and Lloyd should be sidelined more. They’re both over developed and the original four ninja deserve more consistent focus and love in the new wild brain seasons.
Kai was the main character but now he is just a side character and comic relief. Zane was weird, but cool and smart, and now he is just a robot that does nothing. Cole was a brave leader, and now he is comic relief like kai(season 13 is an exception). Jay was funny and inspirational, but now he isn't funny like he used to be and pretty generic.
Cole should’ve become the green ninja, he was the best ninja out of the original 4 before Lloyd came in the picture, he is the most focused and has the least worst moments. In earlier episodes where the 4 ninjas was fighting about who was gonna be the green ninja, Cole was the least needy out of all of them, he cared more about the team working together and working to better him and others. Let’s not forget he was the original leader before Lloyd came in the picture.

Hot Take: Get rid of Master Wu. It’s not because I hate the character but it feels like he out stayed his welcome in the show. You can kill him off for good or Master Wu can just retire becoming more of a side character. Which will allow other side characters to get more development.
Agreed. I know it’s cliche killing off the master once they have taught everything they know but he just feels out of place because the team don’t really need him anymore. Also, in season 13, it was quite depressing watching someone who was once so respected and wise act pathetically like that. It just really felt off and was hard to watch as a long time fan.
He has once. At the end of season 7 he killed off himself and came back in late season 8.

Season 8 was the decline of ninjago. Crappy redesigns, no airjitsu, no elemental dragons and less use of elemental powers.
I kinda feel like nya destroyed dinamic between 5 ninja. It worked for season 5 and 6 but after that its really noticeable

They’re really similar, yeah, but here is some difference:
-Morro worked for a master
-Possessed Lloyd not because he was the green Ninja and wanted to prove destiny wrong, he did it so that he could remove the Ninja’s powers, and gain access to the realm crystal.
-Getting revenge on Master Wu being a side quest, Tai Lung had that as one of his main quests.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates Kalmaar he literally just hates land dwellers for no reason. Pythor hated land dwellers but he had a good reason and that was that they locked them all up and killed all the Anicodrae. He was basically Pythor with a stupid motive that made no sense.

Blazing hot take: I didn't think Zane's sacrifice was sad. It didn't impact me emotionally almost at all. Why? I knew he'd come back. It's a children's show so there was pretty much a 0% chance he'd stay dead. Sure enough he was rebuilt at the very end of the episode. I still think it's a great scene, just not in a sad way.

During Skybound season it is never Acknowledge that the Ninja committed genocide on 2 realms. During possesion they destroyed the Curse realm when they defeated the Eminence and killed all the ghost in that dimension, including Garmadon. With Skybound we learned that when they did that the indirectly caused the destruction of Gin-Jago as they were sister realms, thus indirectly killing all the innocent Gin within the realm.
they also destroyed Chima as another parallel realm.. that's why it was canceled. According to my head cannon lol
Hot take: Lloyd should have an evil brother and here's the story to him before Lloyd his parents had another child and they saw evil in him unlike Lloyd who was more like his mother he was like his father so they had him put in the departed realm he figures out how to get back to the over world and used his power of darkness to take over Ninjago it would give garmadon a chance to come back and it would give Lloyd more character development

I came to agree that the Ninja probably wasn't taking Zane seriously. I mean Jay immediately shot Zane down when he tried to explain his first vision.
But my point still stands. He should've tried again to explain his visions.
Season 9 was kind of a homage to season 2 they both show the original ninja training a kid with blonde hair that ages up fast and become special warriors
i honestly think kalmaar is like top 3 villains for me the list beeing:
1: pythor
2: garmadon
3: kalmaar
purely for 3 reasons: big snakes is cool, kalmaar is a giga chad and lastly he is relatable :D i mean who tf askes "why do you want to be rich" i mean its obv that he wants to rule ninjago just because who wouldnt and thats relatable :)

March of the Oni made a mistake. The Overlords golden chest plate was small enough to fit a average person in Season 10 MotO when it was destroyed and huge when it was on the Overlord in Season 3 and dyk that the Overlords helmet from Season 3 was the size of a minifigure or an average adult in the show.
I love Kalmaar, But he was just Loki but as an Octopus while His Brother was Thor but as a Mer-Man
And my response to the Kalmaar hot take, he thinks that the surface and its life on it is a pointless meaning to his cause. In shorter words, Kalmaar thinks the people on the surface are purposely trying to hurt the ocean, so he wants to take it all. If this makes sense.

Ok probably my least favorite villain is nadakhan, by the mid to late point of the season he’s just unlikable to me. When rewatching the series I’ll typically skip to the last episode cause it’s probably the best one in my opinion, I don’t really mind season 7, I like how we finally got to know ray and maya, sure they never were that important but I’m glad we got them, the hands of time are more like a grandpa and grandson for very obvious reasons and i liked how blunk amd ragmunk were pretty much incapable of doing their only job, my favorite villain that is still a villain? Idk, my favorite villain to ever be a villain? I can’t really say, I don’t really know, first like 4 seasons it’s no doubt garmadon with the overlord in close second, Chen is in last to many fans displeasure, he’s ok, not nearly as bad as many others but villains like pythor, garmadon, overlord, etc are much better in my opinion, s5-7 no doubt morro, he’s good, nice backstory, ghost, cool power, that NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ME, PERIOD! mentality. Great villain. The oni trilogy, harumi, just saying it right now I am a harumi fan. 11-13 it’s the skull sorcerer with ice emperor in second. Kaalmar is a good black and white emperor palpatine style villain, do we know his motivation? Not really, do we still like him as a villain? Yes. Overlord for s15 cause it’s s15 there’s literally no new characters I can think of.

Back when i was younger the Pilots just came in Romania back then i couldn't watch it anywhere else but Cartoon Network i saw the Pilots as an enjoyable way to spend some of my free time but when Season 1 came out in my country i did not liked it at first but the more i watched the more it charmed me the reveals like Zane being an Nindroid or an "Ninjabot" how i called him back in the day since then i watched all of the seasons
But after i finished Hunted i kinda left Ninjago but once seeing all the good stuff that i lost i felt bad and now i wanna reconcile with the series and watch everything i missed any suggestions
