It is difficult to hem jeans on a household sewing machine, especially to get a factory-made original seam of the finishing stitch. But you can not only facilitate the execution of the hem jeans, but also preserve the original stitch of the jeans hem. In this video, I'll show you how to hem jeans with keeping the original hemming stitch. You don't even need an overlocker. You can overcast the cut jeans fabric with a zigzag.
To correctly determine the hem line, you need to add an allowance of 1.5 - 2 cm upwards to the jeans trim line. It is necessary to apply the original jeans hem line to this line.

@@pavlal.4552it actually is a thing. They break your legs, stretch them out, plate them up and let them heal. Costs tens of thousands to do though. And is very risky.

How do you manage if it is wide base or tapered?
Measure the difference in width at the original hem seam and where you want the new seam to be. Knowing how much you’ll need to take it in, you can sew a slightly deeper inseam to narrow the original hem width. There are many good youtube videos that demonstrate exactly that (hemming bootcut/flare jeans or hemming skinny jeans). I highly recommend watching some of those first. Happy sewing!
Only works w straight styles so the perimeter of bottom line and the shorter length are the same. Also, most jeans these days have some stretch in the fabric which makes the sewn line warping

Do you you need to use a different needle? And that different foot, does that come with most machines?
I would use a heavy duty or jeans needle and the foot is called a zipper foot. I have two sewing machines and both come with it.

No need to manually. If your sewing machine does not have a removable table, you will also need to sew on the inside jeans, only the second edge will be facing you, uptowards. Если у вас хорошая швейная машинка, как в ролике, можно не заморачиваться, спокойно подвернуть низ и прострочить крупным стежком, взять нитки подходящего цвета в два сложения. Ну а нитки всегда найдутся, если есть машинка.

Jeans are sown on industrial sewing (heavy duty) machines, but most people would have regular table top sewing which can duplicate this kind of finish only to some extent. You of course can try to replicate it, but I don't think it will look the same.

Why do my jeans keep having a weird little mushroom like lip when I flip them over after doing this? The bottoms just look a little strange.
Needs to be ironed well. Perhaps the cut seam should be tacked to the leg so that the thread is not visible on the face side.

This is ugly after a few washes and a double row of faded wrinkles show up. I paid to have 4 pairs of jeans ruined
There is no other way to shorten jeans and keep the original hem. This is a tricky way, it does not provide 100 effect. Only buying normal length without cutting jeans guarantees 100% results.
they arent ruined, just remove the new hem and either leave the edge raw or sew a new hem!!
