  • Beachgoers along Florida's panhandle spotted a shark this week - or should we say, the shark spotted them.
The sighting occurred Monday afternoon in the panhandle at Navarre Beach, according to a social media video.
A reel posted in the All Things Navarre Beach & Pensacola Beach Facebook group shows a shark swimming close to the shore of the beach while numerous amount of people were in the water.

For anyone visiting beach anywhere. Never I repeat NEVER go swimming near a pier. People fish of those things and fish attract sharks and other predator fish

I cant believe how slowly. Some people leave the water. After seeing the shark with their own eyes. what are they waiting to be attacked?

To be fair , for every shark you see , there’s 10 just under the break on the second bar.

Actually, the worst thing you can do is physically panic. Kicking, splashing, swimming fast, etc often triggers the predator instinct in the shark and makes an attack far more likely. So calmly but firmly leaving the area is usually the best course of action.

@@lenforstell1139 but it's not like they were in deep water. And they were close to shore. So what you describe really doesn't apply. Most of the people just turned around and casually watched. it was really strange

@@bmf00 Most shark attacks occur in shallow waters, off coastlines and sandbars. I’m not necessarily saying the people in this video consciously knew it, but they actually seemed to react the best way, whether they knew it or not.

Because running is what makes it come after you. You’re better to slowly leave.

Why are some people still in the water? Risk takers.

It’s time to set up some type of drone headquarters on the beach. This is becoming a serious hazard. Maybe find some type of funding from parking fees.
Me, I go in the water at knee level, still not safe, but I’ll have a smidge of a fighting chance. During the meantime it’s “Enter at your own risk”
