*Also, here's a FACT SHEET so as to dispel some of the misinformation out there in the world of internets:
-Eazy E died before ever hearing our version. We did our first version in '98 and this one in 2000. Eric Wright died in '95.
-Dr.Dre was a part of the process over at Universal/FarmClub with Jimmy Iovine (Interscope). Dre was supposed to make a cameo in the video to help us alleviate any potential tensions between us and the rap community that may not take kindly to our version. His appearance on the video fell through unfortunately. Probably would have hurt his rep. Gotta think big picture.
-Dr.Dre, Ice Cube and the estate of Eazy-E all get royalties from this version. They wrote the lyrics and we wrote the music/melody.
-We have never played the Grammys.
-We grew up listening to NWA, Eazy-E, The Ghetto Boys, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Disposable Heroes of Hipopracy, Blowfly, Ice-T, BioHazard, Onyx and D-Nice. We were kids from Texas who were fans of rap.
-We know we're not hard or tough or gangster in any way, so we turned down every video idea that portrayed us as living out the lyrics to the song. We're not trying to be Everlast, and would get eaten alive on the streets.
-"Dynamite Hack" is a Caddyshack (1980's movie by Harold Ramis starring Chevy Chase and Bill Murray) reference to weed. The video is supposed to be a riff on the Caddyshack theme... with us cast as the rich, entitled, argyle sweater-wearing boobs. Hence the golfing and bad clothes.
-We are not The Gourds, Weezer, The Bloodhound Gang, Uncle Kracker or Wheatus
-We did not do the "Gin and Juice" cover. That was The Gourds...also from TX.
-We did a cover version of Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day" on our first album "Pillowhead". It's more of a pop-punk version.
-If you LOVE this song, there is the strong possibility that you will not enjoy any of our other music. Our other songs are pop-punk and more recently a bit country. The new stuff will be a mixed bag of country-ish stylings and space rock. So, once again, if this song really does it for you then do not ever try to listen to any of our other music. Except maybe the new stuff. The new stuff is really badass. HTBUAB the album is also pretty killer.
-If you like rap and have no sense of humor, you will definitely not like this song.
-Coolio was mad for years about Weird Al's "Amish Paradise". But now he thinks it's funny. He also likes the royalty checks.
-No one in the band has ever appeared on iCarly.
-We "appropriated" the look, dress and affectations of rich, country-club folks in Beverly Hills. Which is not a part of our people's culture.
*How to Get Your comment removed: be super disrespectful to others on the message board or say hateful sh!t about Eazy. Talk all the trash you want about us, but keep the rest of your venom to yourself. I also might delete exceptional hurtful things about us. I'm not made of stone.
I need more chill acoustic gangsta rap music lol. All these years and I still love this cover
Me too. They did a great job on it, despite it being a ridiculous cover.
@@FreedInPieces ridiculous in an awesome way lol

Not gangsta rap, but if you haven't heard Patent Pending's cover of Break Stuff it might scratch the same itch
Then I let the Alpine play
“Punk azz tripping but it’s alright” by white dudes in unison is gold no matter what anyone says or thinks. Glad I grew up in the 90’s
😂 💯%
the lead singer Mark Morris is just a regular guy now with a regular job working as an applications administrator, seems like a pretty chill dude
But does he have a terminal chillness?
omg is that a reference from the room
M45terMiNd he gave up on his dreams, what a pussy
I think you mean, acoustic
Lol
Anyone else ever wake up and randomly start singing a song you haven’t heard since like high school? That’s how I get here

Bro literally me this morning. I swear to god I was singing this before I even opened my eyes. Lmao
@@rachelkupferer5055 Yup and now its been 5 months since iv heard this and it hasnt popped in my head since. Just a random one time "hey remember this song?" then its gone lol
Even all these years after I discovered this, every so often I come back because it's just so damn memorable. I don't think this video will ever not be hilarious to me.
I always crack up when they wave to the cop
Yeah that's hilarious lol
White privilege.
@@bobbyray7558 stfu idiot. get your dumbass agenda out of here.
xeric080 Bruh Chill out, Bobby Ray was just pointing out how commonly at that time a big problem was that Police would be more cautious shooting White individuals over others or just be Suspicious of people by their color.
N.W.A literally made a song about that.
More whites are shot every year than blacks, its not surprising that in areas that are heavily populated with blacks, they’re shot more. Not saying either or is the case. This isn’t all black/white. And yes the irony is now lost on me.
Now this is a certified hood classic
Easy-E loved this cover. That's all you need to know.
Considering it was released 5 years after he died that would be impressive
Straight poetry. I used to do this cover outside of bars for money when I was 19. Drunk people loved it 😂

I loved this version as a kid when my parents were weird and wouldn’t let me listen to full on rap, but now as an adult (I still love this version) but I also am such a huge fan of Eazy E, and I kind of thank this rendition for starting that up. It honestly makes me so sad to know that he passed before he would have heard it for himself. Rest in Paradise Eric Wright 💜
I remember when this song came out, no one once brought up race or hating this or that. everyone knew it was a parody an people didn't get bent out of shape over stuff so easily.
Very true. Everyone just laughed at the irony. Everyone already understood the implications of racism of the time. They laughed at how ridiculous this song was applied, because it was genuinely funny. It's like if Weird Al learned better acoustic and harmony and applied it to something hardcore. The overwhelming message is more positive than you'd think. People just get so fucking affected by shit these days.
This was a gem from my childhood, i remember downloading this from limewire and I'm black
Wasn't it a wonderful time? I had black friends that laughed their asses off at this song.
It’s honestly because of how they did it though. They did it right by constrasting the lyrics with the rich, preppy clothing, the slow, melodic style, etc. Its all signaling you to see it as a joke & an homage.
“Punk ass trippin’” sung in harmony, I mean come on. It was comedy.
20 years later.. Still listening. Thank goodness for the internet as my cd got wayyy too scratched 15 years ago.
Legend has it this is what tyler herro listened to before the nba finals to get hyped up
White boy from the suburbs here..just felt the need to state my opinion which is that I graduated in '04 and this song was one of our many anthems..I grew up listening to both this and REAL gangster rap and anyone who has a problem with this song in any sense can like my middle aged balls..other honorable mentions from my era - Rehab - Sittin At A Bar...Pastor Troy - Visa Versa...Kid Rock - Only God Knows Why...Bone Thugs - East 99 Eternal and Art of War (both full CDs lol)...Field Mob - Dead In Ya Chevy...8ball & MJG - Paid Dues..etc. etc...man I miss music that had heart in it, these poor kids today dont even know what the word "soul" means
I ain't dying if they don't play this at my funeral
This might be the best comment I’ve ever seen. I hate to steal your idea but I’m gonna need this played at my funeral too.

double thumbs up on that sentiment.
lol resurrect
Having known this version for years, but just seeing the video for the first time brings all new enjoyment.
I can’t help but think Eazy is somewhere up in gangster heaven just laughing his ass off over this. 😂😂😂
That's almost exactly what I said but with Dre and Cube.
Easy E is lookin up at this PROUD.

You've done it, sir! You've found the joke! Congratulations! I always knew you could do it ♥️
I saw Dynamite Hack perform live at 101X Fest in Austin, TX back in 2000. Weezer also performed on that same stage the same day. Wheatus was originaly billed but they cancelled so Weezer was signed as a last-minute replacement. It was a hot day. Temps above 100 and zero shade anywhere. Cypress Hill were the headliners. Also present were: Human, Kottonmouth Kings, The Nixons, and Everlast.
Imagine if they had all 3
Damn legendary line up. 👍
Pictured in this video: the intended audience of 90’s gangsta rap. NWA was totally in on the joke. This cover is as much an acknowledgement as it is a satire.
To anyone reading...
If you read any interviews of them talking about this cover you'll see they were HUGE fans of NWA as a whole, Eazy-E, Ice Cube (he ACTUALLY wrote the song), and Dr. Dre's solo stuff. *According to interviews, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre have both heard this and like it.* Dynamite even took the pre-emptive legal care to make sure they got (and are still getting) paid royalties for it too! This is a tribute to Eazy/NWA done in the most non-offensive way possible.
Joke holds true to this day. Look at any rap concert crowd. White kids, white kids everywhere lol
@@zeke7515 I'm glad to hear that! I'm a black chick but I love this cover 🤣🤣🤣
@@KariIzumi1Same, it made me lose it ever since I was a kid. So stupid. 🤣
I dont understand what would be the 'joke'. Musically this cover is better than the original. Artist cover other artist, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, who gives a shit? Hell you wouldnt have modern rap if those artist and previous ones especially didnt sample tunes from other genres.
One of my all-time favorite covers. The juxtaposition is funnier than hell.
Music peaked as an artform with this song
This is my favorite cover of anything ever
I've been trying to find this version again for roughly 8 years. Ever since I heard a friend playing it in his car. The search has been worth it

My brother sang this at karaoke with our family one year. Our country loving family. Everyone was stunned. I was dying laughing. He was drunk.
Another video mentioned a drunk people zoo made me remember that night.
This is how I learned about Boyz-n-the-Hood this song taught me the lyrics
I'm seeing that soe people haven't realized that:
1. they did not write this song. Ice Cube did.
2. it's a joke.
3. how white they are IS the joke.
And also its better than the original musically, sometimes it happens with remakes :)
And actually, well 2, its probably a joke of both super posh white sterotype and gangstas... kind of what makes it funny for us from somewhere in between...

funny how this version is getting attention after 15 years, only because of the release of the movie. This song/video was released way back in the year 2000.

I listened to this bands album Superfast throughout my junior and senior years of high-school. It was the main CD I had in my Walkman at all times. Still love it after all these years.
Just the absolute best approach to cover a gangsta rap song 10/10. I actually found you guys- funny enough- on the travel channel, while doing an hour show about Austin. They showed you playing live and _Superfast_ has been a staple in my life ever since! This song was a pleasant surprise listening to the album the first time.

Well said
I heard this randomly on the radio in the early 2000s-ish and happened to get it on tape back then. Such a great cover!
Guys. This is an ironic satirical cover of the song. The reason so many people find it better than Eazy E's version is BECAUSE it's satire. (Also idk.. it sounds nice) Nobody here thinks Dynamite Hack made the original song. Chill out lol.
It's so fucking white it's literally impossible to take seriously
I loved the satire of this. The lyrics and visuals are absurd together. Beautiful.

My best friend growing up her dad showed us this song. Thank you Tim.
Sang this at karaoke on a cruise and had a couple a few days later asked me if I sang it and I said yes. They told me they laugh about it everyday and it has been the highlight of the cruise. The DJ was pissed but the song was in her book so I'm not sure why she was mad. Loved that cruise
Sounds like fun ☺️😜🙂
i think the reason people get mad at this song is there is a lot of respect for Easy E and some people think this song is making fun of him. Idk why though. It's clear to me they are making fun of themselves. My brothers love the original and hate this they literally said it's because this song is "disrespecting the original" lol
