An excellent PSA from more than 50 years ago, which if updated, could help a lot of young people today. The ignorance and resistance to appropriate medical care is probably worse today, but as a society we have regressed to the point a film on this topic wouldn’t be approved by most school boards. I also have to remark on the diversity seen in this production from 1968. I was present then and this film is significantly more progressive with regard to race, sexuality, and casual sexual encounters than most of what we saw in mainstream media at that time.
Somebody texted me Happy VD for Valentine's Day. I told them that abbreviation means something else 🤣

The honest truth of VD is that most people are too embarrassed to seek treatment for their infection. They think that someone is going to spread gossip about them if they do. I can count so many instances that would fit in that category! I respect people that seek treatment for any condition that somehow affects their Health and Well-Being. You seeking treatment can stop you from incurring long-term psychological conditions from not being treated and keeps myself from coming that much closer too my cheese sliding off of my cracker!

Check out those vintage WW2 VD films. Very graphic and the use if mercury type ointments inserted into the urethea and other horrors. I get a chuckle with the sailors in their dress blue uniforms. Apparently, they came right from the "party place" to the VD clinic on base.

This is actually more progressive and, frankly, scientific, than I’d have suspected from this generation.
It’s nowhere near perfect but it’s surprising.
And not progressive enough for this generation due to all the partner gender assumptions. This generation has definitely lost the plot.
Socially, the United States has regressed so much since this "idealized" film was made. If MAGA gets its way, sex ed will be banned and most young people will know nothing about sex except what they learn on the streets.

Oi. I got in in College in the very early 80's. The burning was the key to it. I went to the Clinic and got treated. If I remember correctly I took 1 pill and waited a few hours and took like 7 more. Im Gay so I could have gotten it anywhere EXCEPT at school cause I wasnt sleeping with anyone there. I wish I could say I stopped having Random Sex at that point. I didnt. In my world the 80's was full of Bath houses,movie theatres,Parks,Cars.....anywhere. It was Drugs and QUANTITY not QUALITY of Partners. But I STILL give thanx every single day. Why? Angels watched over me and protected me from AIDS. I didnt get it. They truly protected me. And as it became more rampant I slowed down 120%. Im extremely grateful!!
