Excellent much needed makeover for Mikado 👌 which I believe is a name for a Japanese Emporer, the mikado pkg adorned striped seats and a three spoke steering wheel along with the Kool badges 👍☮
As a grandfather to two little Princesses it makes me happy to know they have positive female role models in the car hobby like you and supportive spouses like your husband to follow! Thanks for what you do!! Truck looks great!
I used to borrow a friends 76 Luv back in the eighties. I had a full size pckup of my own but that little truck was a blast to drive! ( and got a Hell of a lot better mileage ) Todd the retired trucker.
I’d never even heard of a Chevy Luv!! I’ve never quite understood those little “trucks”…can’t carry much weight in em! Seems like a good cleaning/polishing product and I’m with the others that think those exposed parts give that little rig some character!! I say spray it with a clear coat to protect it and leave it as is!!👍🏻
@Emily Next time to polish chrome, try some ultra fine steel wool (0000); works way faster than compound. Also brings back around the outer surface of the glass and windows; just spray on windshield washer fluid to help the wool glide over the glass. Tricks of the trade ;)
Like #278 today. After watching your video I got out my polishing kit and was about to neat up my auto. I opened the garage door and that's when I realized it was -20C and about 3 feet of snow outside. Guess I'll wait a bit ....
Your projects, and the fact that you have so many, inspires me to get off my butt and go live a life! But I still have time to watch you guys do your thing!!
i thought i was gonna make it all the way through one of your vids without a tease ....BUT OH NO !! 10:50 in there it is right in my face !!!! THAT BLOWER AGAIN !!! Oh and the luv looks great too !
Mothers will remove any clear coat on chromed wheels, head light bezels, triple trees, down tubes or accessories.. Found out the hard way on my new Harley... Just a heads up. That Chevy's paint, even thought thin, came out GREAT! She really looks Sweet... Same for the Chevy! 😎
Use a scrubbing brush with the metal polish on the grill, bezels and badges, it pushes it into all the nooks and crannies a polishing rag missed. Just adds that final bling.
For a pickup truck, polishing it yet leaving the patina gives it a nice honest-use look. Also, as I predicted in 2 previous comments, the front-right lockup was a seized-brake problem--I've fixed many of them. :)
When I pulled my 1975 LUV out of the weeds the passenger brake shoe had actually gotten soft. Once I got the brakes broken loose that side would immediately lock up as soon as touching the brake pedal.
She looks so good as you've got that machine technique down to a tee. All I would suggest is taping exposed edges, folds in panels, swage lines etc with some masking tape as they're the areas most prone to burning through when using a harsh compound. If nervous about pulling paint off when removing the tape, then I'd stick the tape to an item of clothing first. That pulls a load of the tack off the tape. Also, try to use 3m blue tape as that's more gentle to start with.
That type of truck was equipped with front drum brakes which were on the way out. Is there a kit where you can convert from drum to disc brakes? The Chevy LUV pickup truck for 1974 also had the Mikado package which was kind of a fancy model. I am glad you got a truck and restored it.
I just bought Bosch Icon blades for my car. Of course it was before I saw your sponsor offer because I will be late for my own funeral. The more you clean up your Luv truck the more I miss my old one. They don't do well in a collision.
The truck is looking fantastic; I can't believe how nice the headlight bezels came out! That omelette looked KILLER, and thanks! I need new wiper blades!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
It really turned out great👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻I would never paint it cause I love the patina it makes it look like it should be. DRIVEN and used👍🏻love your videos keep the great content coming
I had a little yellow luv truck and loved it until the timing chain went and took it out. It was in college at the time and I didn’t have the money to fix up an old truck. But I sure did have fun while it lasted.
actually i use the mothers mag & aluminum polish on my rv and my wifes bettle bug head lights, they had that yellow haze to them and it took me twice to do it but they came clear again
Should have buffed the taillights if they're not too brittle. Will definitely make them pop. Yeah those Bosch wipers are great unfortunately they didn't work on my 69 C20. Bought the right size but somehow the contour of the glass made the rubber fold and just left a good streak right across my sight path. So I said screw it and threw them on my 95 Sierra a little short but man they swipe my glass clean no issues.
Had a friend fit a 454 in a chevy luv... Great little trucks made by Isuzu... Found your channel thru VICE GRIP GARAGE...!!!! I have a lot of catching up to do on your videos...!!!!
In 1977 I Had a 74 Datsun that was this okra color it was a beautiful truck back in the day I was 18 then.i gave $ 2300 off the car lot dad said you will get tired of those $ 112 payments for the next two and half years. But I did it sacking at the local store.🤠
Nice job it turned out really good, I’d leave the original paint it’s got some blemishes but still looks good honestly. I use Jax Wax products on my vehicles, my 68 Chrysler still has all original paint but looks like new still thanks to their products and a lot of time with a buffer.
As impractical a vehicle as it would be for me, my god, do I have service truck envy. I think it stems from being a childhood fan of Emergency! And also having worked a 30 year fire department career. I got to drive everything from a rear mount tower truck to a former military humvee we converted to a brush truck. Sadly our old service truck was placed out of service shortly after I started my career.
I drove an 83 isuzu p'up with the C190 diesel back in college. The whole gang would ride in the back. Lots of memories.
I (LUV) you saving the little truck.
New to channel, enjoying catching up with all your videos.
Garry and Matilyn
You look so serene while buffing the paint. 😌
That is utterly transformed! The imperfections just show it’s a beautiful survivor with “character marks.”
dang, he brought you breakfast, he's a keeper. Nice to know that there are guys out there like that.
Old original paint is always so satisfying to buff out and even thin spots add character.
She looks great!
That truck is just so cute. Even in the state, it is it's just adorable.
Giving the Luv some love really helped it's looks.
Thank you! Great time!!!😎👍👍
Love theLUV......I had one I rebuilt the motor several times..... luvved that truck, as much as I luv this one
You can always pull the headlights and tape them off, painting them with chrome paint.
The Luv's lookin' sweet! It's definitely got some "laugh lines", but she's a beauty who's holding up well for her years!
Excellent much needed makeover for Mikado 👌 which I believe is a name for a Japanese Emporer, the mikado pkg adorned striped seats and a three spoke steering wheel along with the Kool badges 👍☮
Great video of the clean up. Love you guys and your show. God Bless.
I can't explain it, but that truck will actually run better after its all shined up! Go figure! Thanks for Sharing!
As a grandfather to two little Princesses it makes me happy to know they have positive female role models in the car hobby like you and supportive spouses like your husband to follow! Thanks for what you do!! Truck looks great!

Always loved the looks of these Light Utility Vehicles, LOV for short.
My first truck was a LUV. Had a lot of fun in that little thing. Too bad it was really rusty. Good old Wisconsin.

Love the Luv.
I think you are going to need a bigger shop for all the projects.
Looking forward to more MG magic.
That little truck shined up pretty good

Looks great. Have to save these little import trucks. My daughter had a 86
Toyota a couple of years back . Nice little truck. Miss it.

Awesome vidya! Can't wait to see more of this little truck. I had one for a few weeks once before my uncle talked me into selling it to him.

I had a little yellow luv truck and loved it until the timing chain went and took it out. It was in college at the time and I didn’t have the money to fix up an old truck. But I sure did have fun while it lasted.
