I think it is SUPER IMPORTANT for women to understand that if your periods are so unbearable you actually feel like you're going to die, something is almost always wrong. The vast majority of the time, birth control is a bandaid you're putting on a problem that you will eventually have to deal with, especially if you hope to have children one day. Contrary to popular belief, it is *not* normal for us to be in debilitating pain month after month. Whether it's PCOS, endometriosis, or another hormone issue, it's really important to at least try to get to the root cause of the pain rather than jumping back on a pill you don't want to be on as a temporary fix
Yes! This! We are so conditioned to think that our periods are supposed to be painful. They should not be as painful as Abby is describing. That is not normal. And if your gyno tells you this is normal, SWITCH. We should not have to live in pain like that💔
It’s so crazy because I truly thought it was normal for them to be painful?! I think I maybe understate my pain levels when I go to the gynecologist but my PMS has progressively gotten worse since I got off birth control 3 years ago.. I’m definitely going to try & get it looked into with my gynecologist because I don’t want to go back on the pill especially if it won’t help me figure out the root cause like you said!
@@AbbyAsselin right there with you, my whole life I thought it was just "part of being a woman" and it was only recently that I started learning from female doctors that you shouldn't be in pain! I hope you're able to get some answers and relief soon🩷🩷
@@AbbyAsselin yes 1000% percent!! We shouldn’t have to be on BC to control our pain. If your gyno isn’t helpful in sorting it out, I would also suggest seeing a pelvic pain specialist. Their whole practice is getting to the bottom of this sort of thing and treating the root cause. Hugs to you, I know how frustrating this can be!!💕
Commenting about a new kitten with an older pet! We had a similar situation and my older cat (who was around 7) literally acts like he did when he was a baby again. We definitely took our time introducing them but it’s been so good for him to have someone to play with
Girl, I had a full blown panic attack before my interview & I got the job. It’s truly about timing & what’s meant to be. I had interviews where I was confident & I answered all questions perfectly & didn’t get the job. I chalk to up to timing. Interviews/job searching is exhausting. Don’t take it personal!! Also, I like the updates as you do them. It will still be exciting when you show each room completed, because we can see it all together. But I like the individual updates.
i relate to this so much omg “i’m literally gonna lay in bed and CHILL” ~ eats, changes bedsheets, deep cleans desk, finishes laundry ~ okay now i can actually CHILL
LOL stop me and Thomas are the same about building and bickering 😂😂😂 i loveeee seeing your meal prep and I love that’s stayed a more constant even with the job change ❤ your next job that is meant to be WILL come
We got our 6 year old dog a puppy and he went through about a month of an adjustment period. But it’s been the best thing for him. They are now best friends and keep each other active. Best decision we could’ve made
I've introduced kittens to older dogs and it's ok! Most recently I introduced a rescue cat (who showed up to my door!) to my young adult dog. She seems happy and they will sleep near each other and play a little, months after bringing her in. They aren't besties, but I make sure to still include special time with my dog, walks, etc. so she knows she isn't being pushed aside. It can definitely be done and I bet Ella would be excited! :)
the way i need you to educate me on taxes/ being an adult- can you start a video series about adulting: doing taxes, getting a car(loans etc), building credit idk i feel like you could break it down in a way i could understand 🩷just turned 23 and it’s so tough navigating w out good guidance :/
hi, loved the vlog! you could show us what you do on a regular basis and maybe do a good old fashioned house tour once it's all done? Or show what you do in the vlogs and whenever a room is fully finished have a room tour integrated in the vlogs? Also, good on you for continuing applying! You will find something eventually :)
I would not get back on birth control. I’m currently getting off of it now and feel so much better as a whole. I’d ask your obgyn and gp. Personally I haven’t had those issues, only skin, so went to a dermatologist and that was it. I’ve been going through the interview process too after quitting public. Didn’t get a job I thought I REALLY wanted, ended up getting something that feels like the dream job I never knew I wanted.
Def don’t plan on going back on it! I agree I feel way better and more in tune with myself and emotions since getting off. Sending you all the love with the job search ❤️
Omg love the table and chairs! Also you poor thing with your periods! I’m so sorry And as for the introducing a new pet.. I did that with my bunny. I had her for years and then introduced another bunny. I think all in all it’s good for them to experience other animals around them, but it was definitely an adjustment. It had its tough moments, but ultimately I think it’s nice to add a new addition :)
I had a very similar episode a couple of weeks ago and still don’t know what caused it. I’ve had issues with having bad periods before, as well as low blood sugar so I want to say it was a combination of the two for me. I normally try to write off these symptoms as normal, but it’s hard when it is impacting my everyday life! Hope you figure out what’s best for you!
For the period cramps, taking magnesium glycinate has helped me tremendously for my PMS as well as day 1 of my period which used to be like yours. Do your own research of course, but it gets depleted from things like coffee/caffeine and not enough raw greens/veggies, just to provide a few examples. My cramps used to be 10/10 making me sweat and puke like you described and now they are like a 2/10. Love your videos always 💕
I will be on the lookout to hear if it works for you! (I only take it at night as needed to help sleep if I am anxious or feel irritable so I am not sure about taking it daily). You’re the best!!
That’s why i initially got on it in the first place too! It def helped all of it but at the expense of feeling like an entirely different human mentally & emotionally lol
@@AbbyAsselin I do sometimes feel extra emotional and sensitive at times. Honestly not sure if it's related to the BC or not because I have been that way sometimes in the past before I even started the pill.
I also was on birth control for that reason. But I also was more anxious & more numb at the same time, so I recently switched to a progesterone, instead of BC with estrogen. Anxiousness is less. Cramps are back. Lol
@@autumnsnay9357 interesting enough I still get cramping but it’s mild pain and the tiredness even on the BC. It does make my actual period really light though which is nice.
Don't be hard on yourself regarding the interview - getting to an interview stage is a success in itself! You'll find something right for you soon, TRUST! I love your style of vlogging and whichever way you show us house updates will be cool. Maybe they can just be divided into different, shorter vlogs? So that you can organize them in a playlist rather than include them in the middle of a vlog? Just an idea!
Thank you so so much 🩷🩷 I def think I could do that for some of the videos but others it may be TOO short haha but I’ll def have to put them in a playlist!
I would highly suggest hormone tests and also cycle syncing with exercise, diet and lifestyle. Cramps are a symptom of something else and it’s important to look for the cause and BC doesn’t always allow you to find that root cause
I def need to try out cycle syncing. I was so overwhelmed by it (seemed like a lot of work) & I didn’t have time to do all of it when I first learned about it but I should honestly educate myself on it more & try it out now that I have time
Honestly all I’ve done differently is the amount of caffeine I have during different times of the month and then no crazy intense cardio 10 days out from my 1st day. I noticed a big difference and I’ve always had like screaming crying puking level cramps
I would do a Dutch test. It’s an in depth analysis of your body’s sex and adrenal health. It’s also shows your 24 hour cortisol patterns and how you metabolize hormones. I would suggest having someone who can read these and design a program for you - most doctors won’t do this. A natural practitioner is the way to go. I had my doctor wanting to put me on hrt at a young age when it fact, I just needed to control my stress (cortisol) and fix my adrenals. I’m not pms free, healthy and went from having zero sex hormones healthy levels. I’m a data nerd so it’s cool to see how your body is working Internally. Regardless of what you- I know you’ll do what’s best for you and I’m sorry it was so painful!
So I have an older pup who was an only child for 5 years before we introduced a cat into his life. When we got our cat he was 10 months old, so not kitten kitten age but still young. We honestly didn’t keep them separate for long except at bedtime when we put the cat in its own room. In the beginning our dog was stand-offish and the cat wanted to play but they kept their space from eachother. I will say now 4 years later they are loving eachother. Our dog is actually letting our cat lay next to him! It took some time but I’m so happy we introduced a cat into our family.
That’s comforting to hear!! I’m glad they warmed up to one another. I think the key for us would definitely be getting a kitten that hasn’t had time or experience to decide how it feels about dogs, just because ella has always been super timid around the adult cats she’s been around (my brother & SIL have a cat who was a stray & we love her but she is so mean & ella is kinda scared of cats after being around her but can at least coexist with her lol)
@@AbbyAsselin yes! That’s exactly what I did! I also was able to find a local rescue that allowed you to go into the room with all the cats and just chill with them until you found the right one! It is the Bay Area Pet Adoptions in Galveston county. Worth the drive for sure!
i struggle with birth control as well. the pill gives me numbness but with out it i have high highs and low lows. but i would try the depo shot if you want. it is a hormonal birth control but i have found it has evened my emotions with out making me numb.
Is your stove electric? We were having a similar issue in November with our stove, and it turns out the electrical panel on the stove (like where you turn it on/off/select temps and stuff) was dying and it's a common issue I guess. We looked into replacing the panel but it was like $750 and we just decided to get a new stove instead 💀
I would also love advice on getting a second pet when you have one that has always been an only child. We have a Yorkie that will be 8 in October and I would love to give her a playmate, but don’t want to disrupt her too much either.
Omg everything you said about your period and birth control I completely relate. Sweating, on the verge of passing out, vomiting, horrible pain, it’s insane!! On BC I didn’t have any of those symptoms but had the mental side effects. Do you ever take any medication for your period? I’ve just accepted that as soon as I start my period I need to take 2 Advils and then I don’t experience those symptoms at all. If I try to wait it out at all it’s too late and the cascade of symptoms come for me 🥲
