"It doesn`t matter the size of the mess, if you will just pick up one item and make a decision and just keep doing that... it`s almost like a muscle that gets built, and eventually you get to this point where you don`t even want to move on to the next thing until you`ve made a decision about the thing in your hand. And it`s the most effective way to clean and declutter - one item at a time."
Thank you for that, Carla! - I`m so impressend, how much you get done in one day! I'm taking care of a shelf full of cleaning supplies or the kitchen table full of trash and I already feel exhausted! I always see ALL the chaos. The worst part for me is the paperwork. And I think I'll never get it under my feet. And then i give up. Well, shame on me... But the words quoted at the beginning give me courage. Especially the part about the muscle you're training. In fact, no one (except me probably) expects me to quickly put everything in order that has accumulated over the years! It WILL take time... Thank you again! I love your channel. And you`re beautiful. 🌻

Carla, I have a tip for drawers that has worked for my decluttering:
_Do not stack clothes_ on top of each other. You can _not_ see everything to find things.
Instead, _have everything on end_ like books on a bookshelf. Then you can see each item when you open the drawer.
Of course, things would have to be folded to fit the new orientation.

Carla i wish your videos were an hour plus, long. i love watching them. i just love them.
even if i am an organized and tidy person keeping my home neat and clutter free, i also have a tendency to hang onto stuff (not much) but enough to where i had cluttered wardrobe and cupboard spaces which could house more useful items and free up some space. Watching your channel helped me so so much in making those long overdue decisions to get rid of stuff and organize my cabinet / wardrobe spaces more efficiently .
we are a large family lacking in storage space so i know i will definitely need a round two and three of declutter sessions
Thanks soooooo much for your inspirational videos.

Just a little tip for packing into drawers - instead of putting one item on top of the other, which means lifting out everything to get to the bottom, you stand everything up and keep them in rows. Not sure how to explain this…? So fold it smaller and stand it up on its own, then next one behind it (am I making sense? ) I even do this with my underwear and can see everything at once. Makes it much easier 🤗. Thanks for the videos 🌷

I didn't know that was a person's promoted nethod- I was visiting my youngest, helped wash and dry a literal mountain of laundry, then simply assessed the dimensions of my 3 grandkids' various folded clothing types and the drawer spaces involved, knew pulling matching bits would usually be in a rush, so decided the priority should be being able to pull open a drawer and instantly see and know what was clean and matched AND that it could be yanked out quickly- without everything else being tossed around and the drawer being left trashed or with half the contents pulled out.
I forgot to mention befpre I left for home what I had done to my daughter, lol, and so it was almost a week later that she texted me in shock: her oldest had suddenly started choosing matching bits to his school uniform before breakfast even and her middle was coming into the MBd with what she wanted to wear each day AND an outfit for her little sister that all fit and matched and were season appropriate, and when sent up to brush their teeth they had been coming back down already in fitting PJs- so it took her until doing the next giant wave of laundry to open their dresser drawers herself and see what had changed. 😹
And every visit for the last 2 or 3 years sinde the clothes put away vs in a laundry basket are done in the same fashion... and I noticed her and hubby's drawers were now done the same way too. ✅

GREAT work there! One little suggestion that has helped my drawer organization -- I got this from Marie Kondo . .. folding clothes in a way that the clothes stack in drawers like they are files in a filing cabinet so you can see everything in there when you open the drawer has really helped me. Before that, I would put things in drawers like Julia is doing here around 7:45 and when some clothes are covered by other clothes, I totally lose things and forget about them. BRAVA on this work here -- I'm sure it's feeling so great to have things cleared and organized! Also, your niece is really stepping up in raising those children -- I've worked with kids most of my adult life and sometimes the kids have no family willing or able to step up. Thank you to her for doing so. ❤

That mattress looks amazing. Sometimes mess and clutter seems overwhelming and all you need is help to reset and then it's easier to maintain (I speak from experience 😅). I think of you when I have something in my hand that I need to make a decision on. Today we cleared out the cupboard under the stairs to put a freezer in there. When I was putting everything back I had some pint glasses that have been in there for a few years and in a kitchen cupboard for a few years previously. I was tempted to put them back in the kitchen, but I threw them out instead. I know I'll never miss them.

I am also so grateful because many of your videos involve single women without kids who live in apartments and small spaces, and that is missing in many of the other decluttering videos out there. I am in the process of decluttering, and watching your videos motivates me to keep it up. I really appreciate you and your friends. And your family! I love your family decluttering videos because you keep it real, and they are reflective of the real struggles so many have with over-accumulation of things. Love to Samson!

I love that you start the same way I do. I start in one corner and work my way out. The other thing I do is cherry pick all the laundry and trash that easy to see. Then I tackle the rest.

yes! trash is always easiest to start and makes a big dent! laundry was all mixed up clean and needed to be cleaned so took some time❤

Carla, you need to go back to the garage some time and set up spaces for each family member to have as _their_ storage area so that things don’t get lost in the mix. Now that the garage is paired down from before, that would be so much easier…

Hello Carla, nice to meet you here (write you here😊) At first i looked now and then while sitting on my pc and doing other little things on it but you grew on me.
You have such a calm attitude, you are so willing to help people out. to give them just some courage because that is sometimes all what people need.
Everyone seems so busy nowadays and i do get it that a lot of people just don't have the time to be organized all of the time and certainly not with a family.
I am not like that but i am also alone with a little doggy. So i guess more like you except for the clothes and the books🤭But i really admire you for all your help and real, i really feel this friendship you have for everyone.
You are so calming, your voice, the way you talk to people. You deserve a big THANK YOU because maybe you will not understand it totally why i am saying this and ofcourse you get a lot of thank yous but it is the way you help.
You never judge, you never complain, you have real empathy for people and that is something that is not really easy to find anymore.
So thank you from me to because i am really often loosing my faith in people's empathy. And someone like you give me some hope that there still are people that care❤ Wishing you and Samson the best in your beautiful journey❤

I'm working through updating the wardrobes for each of my girls. It can be so tedious to try on tons of clothes to see what fits and what doesn't, but it's worth it to know that everything they have is usable and not just wasting space.
