    IndyCar's current v6 sounds better than F1's current v6.

Yep, it seems to have this raw, sound not heard in current F1 cars, maybe the Honda F1 engine comes close, but the Indycar's turbo v6 sounds better.

@@jamesjordan4955 that’s the dumbest difference ever, fuel can’t change the sound of the V6, only the way the V6 was built can change the sound of the engine

@@superbrownsheep3777 the MGU-H is a part of the engine in the F1 V6 that’s not found in the Indycar V6. It’s one of the components attributed to the current F1 engine’s lack of satisfying noise, and most of the non engine constructors have lobbied for its removal multiple times.

You got some of F1's engine history wrong. No V12 engines competed in F1 during the 2000s. From 1989-1995, F1 teams could run any cylinder configuration they wanted for their engines, so long as they were naturally aspirated and had no more than 3.5L of displacment. This period is often referred to as the "V12 era" of F1, despite the fact that V12s were common in F1 before the mid-to-late-1980s turbo era, and the reality that V10s were actually more popular and won more championships during the 1989-1995 period. Nonetheless, this period featured iconic cars like Ayrton Senna's 1991 Championship-winning Honda V12-powered McLaren MP4/6, several legendary V12 Ferraris, and the gloriously unreliable Lamborghini V12, among others. For the 1995 season, the regulations changed from 3.5L to a 3.0L formula. Teams could still run a V8, V10 or V12, but every driver who won the WDC from 1995-1999 did so with either a Renault or Mercedes-built V10. The 3.0L V12-powered 412 T2 chassis that Ferrari competed with in the 1995 season was the final F1 car to race with a V12. In 2000, the 3.0L V10 configuration was made mandatory for all teams. This lasted through the 2005 season, and for 2006 the regulations changed to a much more specific formula of a 2.4L 90⁰ V8 with a maximum bore diameter of 98mm. Since they couldn't find a V8 engine supplier in time, the newly-formed Scuderia Toro Rosso (formerly Minardi) was actually allowed to continue racing with a 3.0L Cosworth V10 in 2006, with an air restrictor and a 17,000rpm rev limiter installed (that year, several teams had V8s capable of revving beyond 20,000rpm). That was the last F1 car to race with a V10 engine. By the 2007 season, every F1 driver on the grid was racing with a regulation 2.4L V8.
