Its not a poor mans Rolex, its a Mans Rolex. Tudor is priced how Rolex should be. There are not any poor men buying a $S3k ranger or $4k black bay. I have the Tudor Pelagos FXD and wore it for a good chunk of my military career. A proper tool watch. Don't down play the quality of a Tudor.
"We tend to be more critical and less infatuated in the comfort of our own home." Thank you for these words!! And congratulations on getting the lovely watch🎉
I've had one of these for about a year and I love it. it pretty much looks good on any strap and it gets more wrist time than most of my other watches now because it's so versatile. The bracelet is one of the most comfortable ones I own and the boringness of the dial makes it so legible when you're out adventuring and just take a quick glance at the dial.
I have never paid much attention to Tudor watches until i saw the Ranger when i was dropping off my Speedmaster for service. I seen the Ranger and asked to look at it. I really liked it. I went to have lunch and tried to shake the feeling but i couldn't so i went back and bought it.
I wouldn't call it a poor man's Rolex Explorer. I do own a Datejust 126234 36mm, but I chose to buy the Tudor Ranger over an Explorer last year in March very consciously and have not once regretted it. This watch exudes something special, it was love on first sight. It's toolish and understated, but it has these very few refinements you get to appreciate over time. Nothing screams "look at me", yet I still find myself giving it another glance after reading the time, thinking: this is a beautiful watch. I don't get envious looks on the street or from colleagues and sometimes I even wear it whilst mountain biking, without a care in the world. I could go on raving about it, but you get my point 😅
Dude, i just went on a 7 week vacation and this is the only watch i brought with me. Although i didn’t swim with it, i was absolutely contented wearing it every single day and not once did i regret bringing just 1 watch. I wasn’t worried about what’s on my wrist (as if i have other expensive watches😂which i don’t) it’s subtle, beautiful, rugged, extremely easy to adjust as my wrist expands. And like you said, we could go on and on and on raving about it but…you get my point! 😅 i may have called it the poor man’s rolex but i certainly felt satisfyingly rich and happy wearing it!
Nice! Happy you're enjoying it. Wish you the best 👍🏼 Btw: In my humble opinion you can absolutely go swimming with it, I did it at least a dozen times. With 100m WR + screw-down crown you are totally fine, even though many tend to be overcautious. I can personally recommend "Erica's Marine Nationale" straps for swimming or summer attire.
@@DocMulholland thanks! But i am just too scared to dip it in the water😂 and thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check it out. But by the look and feel of it, it seems like a really great product.
Bought the Tudor watch last week. Outstanding in its simplicity and functionality. I wanted understated quality, no shiny polish. Perfect on all occasions. Thank you.
I have been looking at this for a while. Some say that its boring and plain but I think that's its attraction. So under the radar. Excellent movement for the price.
Rolex explorer is boring but it’s hyped, so in many people’s perception, it’s not boring. So, it depends on what you like. :) for me, it’s excellent. Movement, quality and design-wise.

I really wish people would stop calling Tudor watches 'poor man's Rolex' A long time ago when they were fitted with eta movements, maybe, but not any longer. I cant afford an Explorer ( and dont have the willpower for a dozen or so years on a grovelling list) but I can afford a Ranger and its that very perception that's stopping me from buying one.
I think it's perfectly fine to call it the poor man's Rolex, you're buying it for you, not for other people. you're getting it 'cause you love it, not 'cause someone else does. Just be happy that there's something like Tudor for people like us, who doesn't want to get the explorer, or who can't afford the explorer "yet". You can call it whatever you want as soon as it lands on your wrist, "The rich man's Tudor", "The Perfect watch", Whatever, It's "Your Tudor".
@@slds108I’m really pleased for you and a bit jealous, I really like the look of them. Tudor is my favorite watch brand and are making some stunning watches at the moment and I class the Ranger in this statement. I hope it brings you a lot of enjoyment and pride.
I looked at one over the weekend. I dont like how the letters are printed directly onto the dial. For that price, you'd think they would at least give some raised numbers like the tudor north flag! Still, I love the simple design.
Thanks for sharing your wrist size and many wrist shots. I’m a 6.5 inch wrist too and consider 36-40 mm to be the perfect range for a daily. This one has a lot of character!
