    Appreciate this comp! So I have the Fuji X100VI. I just ordered the S9 with the 20 to 60 preowned. Also pre-ordered the 18 to 40 lens. I'm an adventure cyclist, and while a go pro is how I shoot most video I love adding a cinematic feel with a real camera. With the Fuji I find myself constantly wanting to be wider so I know the S9 will fill that. Also the IBIS on the S9 is like none other! I have a gimbal for the Fuji, but would rather do hand held. Looking forward to see the results!

    Thank you for this comparison! A little remark: You show two compact lenses with the S9, but the pictures from the S9 in the comparison are made surely with a much bigger lens at minimum f2, because he depth of field is more narrow. It would be fair to show this lens too. So some users may think, they could produce this narrow depth of field bokeh as seen with tiny lenses.

    • @mdenjoyer831
      @mdenjoyer831 Месяц назад +1

      F4 on full frame has more bokeh than F2.8 on apsc, if you make the equivalence, full frame lenses are smaller and lighter
      on full frame 1.8 is the 1.2 of apsc

    • @Powerland56
      @Powerland56 Месяц назад

      @@mdenjoyer831 Yes, 1.8 FF is 1.2 APS-C. The X100VI has f2.0. So it is clear, that a FF lens with 2.0 will have a narrower depth of field. But f2.8 or exactly 3.0 will have an equivalent depth of field. You see in the video, that the depth of field of the Pana is clearly narrower. Why?
      One reason could be, that he used a FF lens much better than f3.0, for example 2.0 and the X100VI with f2.0 too. But he shows compact lenses, which cannot make such a narrow depth of field. Why?
      The other reason could be, he uses the darker compact Panasonic lens and set the Fuji down to f4 for example. But why?
      So my point in my post above is clear: He should mention, which lens and which aperture he has used.
      The X100VI at f2 has a more narrow depth of field than a S9 with the shown 18-40 4.5-6.3, which has about f5.6 or even worse at 35mm. But he shows a better depth of field for the Pana in the comparison. Never ever with the 18-40 or only, if he not uses the f2 of the X100Vi. In the real world, the X100VI has a better depth of field than the shown Pana combi.

    I have the S9 which is literally my S5II in small without EVF. I decided against the Fuji XH2 and left my Fuji XT4 behind to go for the S5II and now for the S9 too. Why? Way better IBIS by far, better IQ and espcially recovering Shadows with the S5II and also S9. Before getting the S9 I was looking for a Fuji X100VI to get something small but than the S9 was announced and it was an easy decision. The IBIS, better IQ and the option to change lenses makes the S9 clear winner for me. But that doesnt mean the Fuji X100VI isnt good - its just not for me. I keep thinking that the S9 with my 21mm Leica APO Summicron SL would be a much smaller and lighter travel carry than the SL3 for stills. Even on the 24MP SL2-S, the APO lenses produce images that render more like they were taken with a much higher resolution camera. With the q3 43 it would make a great combination. The lack of EVF and mechanical shutter are the things that concern me. Artifical lighting banding and rolling shutter could be an issue. I think if they added both of these things the S9 would be a no brainer companion camera.

    The X100Vi does have image stabilisation in photo mode! (Though IBIS is a ~stop less in OVF mode). The X100VI also has a flash and leaf shutter for flash sync up to 1/2000, that should be mentioned! S9 has no flash or hot shoe, obviously a video first camera, the X100VI is a photo first camera. For pixel peekers, yes the S9 is sharper. I don't know how Fuji does it, native colours hold better when ISO is really stretched. May I say I don't like the mindset/language when you say APS-C is cropped and 135 format isn't??? 135 format is cropped compared to GFX. 35mm film was invented from halving another format. APS-C isn't cropped to MFT. They are different sizes, nothing is cropped in absolute terms, it's just daft language. It's cropped if you're not using the full sensor within that system.

    The young lady's face was slightly distorted on the X100 photo. A 23mm (35mm equivalent) lens is not great for medium shot portraiture. If you simply set the crop on the Fujifilm to 70 and take a few steps back you get a perfect portrait.

    • @RPP403
      @RPP403 26 дней назад

      Your solution to distortion is not going to improve it. You are still having the same 35mm perspective no matter how much you crop.

    • @edjefferson9175
      @edjefferson9175 26 дней назад

      @@RPP403 The exaggerated perspective is caused by the short distance to the subject. Set the crop to 50 or 70 and then step further back to re-frame your subject. The perspective narrows. Did it many times with my X100F. The crop did degrade the image but the high res of the X100VI should mitigate the issue.

      I respect those priorities, and no EVF has required a period of adjustment for sure ,however being the owner of an S9 I can tell you it's on a whole other level with an advantage over every other camera on the market currently and you'd have to experience it to REALLY understand how much of a 'gimmick' (term the haters are using, LOL) it is not. That's the Realtime LUTs feature. To be shooting in a group setting or event and have my shot(s) automatically transferred onto my Galaxy Z Fold 5 (closed in my pocket) within 3 seconds and uploaded onto social media or shared to the client within 20 seconds, totally 'color graded' and finished while the other photographers are reviewing & pinching to zoom in and check focus on their LCDs is so hilarious!
      My street photography group members told me last month I need to leave my "Cheat Code" (their name for the S9) at home and bring my S5ii back out...😂 They're due to be very frustrated next meetup since the S5ii just got a FW update last week that makes it a 'cheat code' in the exact same way! 😂 Also, as nice the Fujifilm 'film simulations' are, they can be reproduced as a LUT and loaded into the S9 with the additional capability to customize much further. If the priority is a traditional shooting experience, yeah, Fuji has that hands down and S9 is really nowhere in the conversation. But if the priority is max creative color expression & fast, flexible productivity the X100, A7C, A6700 nor any other current camera is in the S9's league.

    2. Size: Unless you use the 26/f8, any other lens is going to increase the size significantly, even if you use a comparable focal length.
    3. IBIS: X100VI allows IBIS for both photos and videos.
    4. You talk about full-frame's advantages but what about X100VI's advantages without adding any extra bulk: built-in 4-stop ND filter, leaf shutter, built-in flash, EVF/OVF.

Given Panasonic's tremendous compact lens, it really doesn't compare. And I'll add "unfortunately" cause this S9 has plenty to please. No, the S9 is NOT in the FujiFilm's league. It IS in a league all it's own. A league far superior to the FujiFilm in some regards. These are 2 of the hottest, best value, high quality compact hybrid cameras on the market right now; thus the comparison. Just because a review doesn't validate your bias does not mean it is a "missioned", disingenuous comparison. You guys really need to quit with the crybaby crap and trying to undermine these presenters' ethics just because their perspective doesn't match your own.

      @@baihu4u Agree. I had the x100T in the past as well as Nikon full frame cameras. The Fuji X100 series are nice and capable cameras but the limitations are severe: single fixed focal lens, higher noise, worse auto-focus and stabilization, lower dynamic range and color depth. These are cameras that may inspire people to go out and take more photos but a comparison with a FF system is almost absurd. That doesn’t mean a bigger sensor and interchangeable lenses is what everyone wants or needs.
