  • We swam with sharks and it was scary. Yes, they were just white tipped reef sharks (and some black tipped) but Brianna was not a fan at just how many there were less than 5 feet under us. The tour went well! We saw lots of fish, massive rays, birds (including Blue Footed Birds), a turtle, lots of sharks, and dolphins!
Later that night we were watching the sea lions for our last time when Curt noticed a pup had something tight around its neck. It looked like it was a rubber tie from a scuba mask. We pulled a local over (who happened to be from main land Ecuador) who then alerted the authorities. Soon a barefoot man appeared out of no where with a flashlight and a box cutter (he was a professional though). Though he scared the pup a great deal - he also saved it's life. The sea lion immediately went back to sleep while being squished by more sea lions as they do.
Our time in the Galapagos ended on a good note despite the rocky beginning. Next, we go and explore a little of mainland Ecuador before heading south to Peru!
