Hyper fighting is cracking in LA and so cal. Dons arcade in Torrance and bar 82 in DTLA has all the good players. Hyper fighting is alive and well. It’s also my favorite version of 2. Pull up to 82 on a Friday night and fight those dudes. It’s good shit always
The hype is real. Jeff Schaefer (LAAkuma) talked about his dominance with Blanka in the American SF2HF scene in a bunch of videos he posted years back, at the time the only player who touched him was Tomo.
It's all about the knowledge of that particular character provided by the player thus being skillful with it. Any character can be defeated just as any character can be victorious. Lately, we've seen MenaRD using Blanka in a very skillful manner that we're thinking like damn, Blanka is a top tier character.
The tatsu in 12:40 was a TKd Tatsu, in this game it goes backwards and really close to the floor, I think it was one of the first examples of air normals being TKd

I was in that tournament a few months ago at Don's Arcade out in Torrance, Ca. AOD, DJILK ,and OGKenLA are buddies of mine. Believe it or not, DJIlk had to win a qualifying tournament out in New York to earn a spot in this tournament. Most of the great LA HF players spar at Bar 82 in downtown Los Angeles.
One time we were playing SF2T and I was Blanka against a shoto, opponent took a round and confidently said so,stung like ‘I know how to beat Lindsay’s Blanka’, that’s when I realised I was playing far too defensively and went full rushdown and destroyed him, that day he became one of my mains
i once had a winning streak at the arcade with blank about 20+ wins and numerous challengers. I was tired and bored when i finally lost.. Got to say that was one of the high points of my life.
I feel ilk's pain, I fought a HF Blanka once on fightcade and my thought was, man this is so dumb lol. The neutral jump and just his jump in general is too hard to antiair, and then the crossup blanka ball is quite silly. Nowhere close to ST Blanka, but at the same time the fact that Mao can't tech those grabs and since his reversals are tied to charge, often means he has to take the hit, or just keep getting thrown just shows how nuts HF really is.
This is sick to watch tournaments for this game particular. Meta completely changed when the new challengers got added and Bison was mad good. Would love to see you cover more retro top tier play. Vampire Arcadia on youtube been recording a bunch of Retro game footage from like Frosty Faustings this year and stuff. They have some more Hyper Fighting footage on there

Blanka aint top tier. He really just has some stanky jank to set up his bite, and a lot of meaty options. Blanka is a bit like Bison....if the jank works, it's devastating, but if it doesnt....you get locked down.
Blanca is not trash he just doesn't have many combo options or Mix-Ups but if you play him very slow and meticulously as you can see my man is a beast😂
FYI I've never seen a block of ball and a punch come out at the same time I wonder if that was a bug or if that can be recreated might be new tec for the old boy Blanca
@@TheBaioken His dp has more range (similar to CE ken). Allows for very damaging fierce dp combos, and some special case combos on tall characters. And although his hurricane doesn't knockdown, it can be used in redizzy combos. Also since his hurricanes lasts for very small time periods, his air hurricane can be used for shenanigans.
Once he got slide and dash through, he was broken as far as mix up. just some feedback is there any way to mute the background? put music or ... maybe you have them as Closed caption? its distracting with 2 commentary. at 8:12 why not just do the Blanka 3 hit feice headbut ball and end it? also as Zangief jumps in that close, lightning his splash, that's a normal, that's not an Edmond honda. 18:54 he might have been able to do wakeup lightning there. I am confused why he never really uses his blanka air ball with legs. 21:44 that vert blank ball off the tech throw flip out... in a game this old is crazy to see.

It's a very strong character. I get easier wins with him than any other character in SF6, and I use Guile and Ryu mainly. But with Blanka, my win % in ranked is much higher, even though I have much more knowledge in using Guile/Ryu.

Blanka is top 5 in SF2 Hyper Fighting. Sagat & Ryu & Guile being uncontested top tiers, then slightly lower in high mid Ken, Zangief, and Blanka. Honda, Chun Li, mid tier. Vega and Boxer low Dictator bottom tier.
Blanka is the comeback king, he can put you in stars quick, The HD Remix version was sick, his reach is crazy, I have to be on my toes and not throw anything stupid

You didn’t like CE but like Hyper Fighting…..why? I’m the opposite. Hyper fighting doesn’t feel as pure. A bunch of crazy additions as a direct response to game hackers / counterfeiters. None of the additions were intended by the game’s original designers. The game designers didn’t even want to make hyperfighting. SF2CE is where it should have ended, IMO. Capcom should have focused their efforts on designing a SF3 with some of the additions that made their way into SF2 hyper fighting, New challengers, Super Turbo and Alpha. Imagine a 1993 or 1994 in which, rather than more SF2 variants, SF3 was released with extra characters, new move sets for returning characters, balance tweeks, alpha graphics and the speed boost of hyper fighting plus the supers from Alpha or Super Turbo….. street fighter fatigue wouldn’t have set in like it did because of all the SF2 variants that came after CE. Then SF3 from our reality would have been SF4.

Hyper Fighting is my fav' version of SFII. Might be based on nostalgia or even sentimentality but out of every version... it's the one I enjoy playing the most. The others are good and all but it has something that the others don't imo. I play it A TON these days and always have a good time. 😁 ST's good and all too but I'd rather 1v1 someone than deal with the horrendous AI whenever I play. 🤣🤣🤣

Blanka is also severely underrated in Alpha 3, his Blanka ball is a major problem in that game too (all versions of Alpha 3).

トッププレイヤーのBlankaは対処法を知らないとかなり苦戦します。
惜しいと感じるのは、他のキャラクターと比べてその事があまり知られていない事だと思います。

Back in the old arcade days at Aladdin"s Castle nobody used Blanka in tournaments. Everyone used either Guile, Ryu, Ken, or Bison.
