Let’s be honest, due to the George Floyd protests, BLM protests and the approval of props 47 and 57, people voting for liberal DAs, many officers from many cities in this state quit. Now we are seeing trends in quite a few major cities where we as law abiding citizens are facing the consequences.
People voted for this mess, people demanded we defund the police, and now criminals own the streets.
The criminals also see millions of illegals crossing the border so it's anything goes.

When it was "my turn" I was intentionally rammed by a driver who, after purposefully swerving into my lane and colliding with my car head on, just drove away. I called 911 and, surprisingly, got an almost immediate response. But, when it was discovered that I wasn't dead or mutilated, I too received the low priority treatment. The police report, which took nearly three months to get ahold of was so shodily written that the insurance company dismissed me as a liar who had concocted a story to cover up my own culpability. My car was totaled and ended up in a junkyard, I spent the night in a hospital and my claim was denied. Since then I've come to rely on the only sure fire protective measure for insuring that one doesn't end up a crime statistic of San Francisco: stay as far away from there as possible. The only thing SF has to offer anyone that few others have to offer is loss of life, limb and property at the hands of a professional criminal underclass who operate with zero accountability.

I watched on the news a few years ago about two suspects attempting to break into a house while armed with a gun. The homeowner/resident chased them down with a gun, and the robber panicked and ran about a house away. The homeowner manage to shoot from his house and hurt one of the suspects. The house owner got arrested. The reason for this is that there was no treat when the thief turned around and fled from the victim's house. In this case is the broken window.
Even if you are legally allowed to defend, they will still prosecute you. They don't need to win in court. They just need to either 1) scare you into a plea bargain or 2) ruin you financially via the legal process. The process is the punishment.
Of course there is a police shortage! Why would anyone one to sign up after the damn city screams to defund the police? Don't complain, this is what y'all were asking for. It sucks for the rest of us who are stuck here because people lack foresight.

A public defender's job is to vigorously defend their client. In fact convictions can be thrown out on appeal if they find the defense wasn't vigorous enough. The problem is the prosecutors not pursuing convictions in the first place. Those policies come from above. The politicians.

@@kr4536 not true, SF cut 120 million from the police budget in 2020 and it wasn’t until last year or so that they reversed their decision but that money WILL not make up for the officers that left and officer morale, which is very important so we’re still suffering the effects of the DFTP movement, im not saying it’s the only factor but to say it’s “negligible” is ridiculous.

The 911 operator who answered the second time and said, "Look, you are just not a priority," was honest and transparent. This goes for SFPOA President Tracy McCray as well. Transparency and acceptance are important for assessing the current situation. Remember, the homeless, drug addicts, and criminals are a "hero class," and denying these heroes food or products from your store is frowned upon, and these people will retaliate for this lack of respect. They are used to getting what they want when they want it.

Can't get a cop to respond to a stolen car because there's no revenue in it for the PD. But you'll find plenty of SF cops holding speed traps, DUI checks and other road-pirate operations.

Long answer: Prior to Covid violent crime in the U.S. was statistically decreasing every year as our population aged (older people commit less crime). All major cities cut back on police forces to save on budget expenses as a way to easily balance deficits. At the same time, police unions garnered shorter retirement years for a pension. And city police forces were aging with the rest of the population. Further, incarceration for minor crimes was reduced in an effort to cut the U.S. prison population which is the highest in the world. Fact: the U.S. has a higher incarceration rate per capita than China. As with any large problem, the decision matrix is short sighted and ill advised. The homeless issue is another one.

-Be or know powerful city or state officials

San Francisco used to have lovely songs sung about its beauty and charm. Will someone write new songs about SF, how you now have to avoid the poop and discarded needles when you're walking on the sidewalks?
Just because you have police around doesn’t mean you’re safe . And the poop has started to cease because there are 24 hour toilets and the needle nonsense has quit since fentanyl. So now it’s just a bunch of zombied out people from other states infecting our city .
It’s not just SF. This happens in Southern California too.
I was pushed down a flight of stairs and called the local police department in NY. They were joking with me about not finding the address and hung up on me eventually. I soon realized that the perpetrators and the precinct cops were both crooks so don't get too disappointed when they don't feel like answering your phone call. The guy that pushed me down the stairs did so when I wasn't looking and luckily I landed on my hand with blood pouring. The zombie like Brooklyn residents passed by me with terrified facial expressions lifeless to me. Too many crooks and cowards about in society.
Welp, that’s what happens living in a blue city.

Police collect evidence and write a report of the scene. You can’t make up your own crime.

They won’t take days, if you defend yourself especially with lethal force you better believe they’d be there in minutes and especially if you are a law abiding criminal.

It's ALREADY been this way for years! And yes, police dispatch will tell you this each time you call. If you're a victim of crime, good luck, you're on your own. And per what was said in this news report: "Call anyway; you are worthy; but we won't come out to help you."
Yes. This has been the norm for at least 20 years. For all the folks blaming "DEFUND THE POLICE" - please just stop. The police have not been defunded, and this is a long-standing problem.
@@Ay-B Yes they have been defunded. Mayor Breed even praised it like it was an achievement. She shifted the police funding to social workers to respond to non violent calls in the tune of $35 m.
Then they decided to put the money back. By that time, it was already too late and most of that money was used for hiring bonuses and recruiting, not actual salaries to increase headcount for police street presence. Apparently, demoralizing police discourages good people from joining and you need to increase the incentives for people to join.
@@Ay-B Police funding has been shifted to other areas such as community services so DA PEEPLE can do community policing. That being said, the police union likes to get their grubby hands in the till, too. They always want higher pay, better benefits, and protect their bad seed members from prosecution. And, yes, SFPD has been a joke for years. They were a glorified parking patrol division under the Mayor Gruesome Newsom and DA Kameltoe Harris. Things haven't changed.

Unfortunately, this is great news for criminals. Knowing that there’s no law enforcement to respond to calls so they can burglarize and go rogue because they’ll have plenty of time.
The people of San Francisco need to focus on just how fashionable their voting practices are. It might make the pain of their criminal takeover a little more tolerable.

Give me a break with that negligent comment of the obvious truth. I had instances with the police not doing their work and feeling 'uncomfortable' as they stated when recorded. A lot of them are perpetrators and violate the law rather than enforce it. This lust for power has gone too far and transparency with a video camera is the best way to go, even if they are angry about being recorded.
Of course, she is pro black, protect criminals, and she expressed it while meeting with the Okland community
I personally couldn't live in any area where the mindset is "I'm a victim, and I just have to accept that". I do not understand the insanity that has captured certain areas of the country. But insane people do not know they are insane. Every community has a culture. The government is a culture. When that culture is an insane one, it takes a lot of time and effort to change it. It takes most of that community working together to change it. If you are in the minority who wants change, you might be smart to realize it's a losing battle and would be smarter to just leave the area and start over. It may be difficult for you, but the final outcome would be worth it.

Allow crime to happen and say they are understaffed, so yes good citizens are on their own
I tried to report theft to NY city police and they stood outside of their 99th precinct with ignorance and lies about the procedure. Both of the cops told me that if I literally wasn't thrown to the floor, then it wasn't a robbery or an attempt. The same was told to me in NJ when I tried to file charges of being assaulted. The cop started asking specific questions of the assault and dismissed my attempt at filing the charge. Sometimes, it is best to record their foolish words and upload it to youtube for others to see.
