Thank you for your hard work, your help and the passion you share with us. I hope to see your channel continue to grow !
As you said in your video: "How to practice with friends but no coach ", training is the fastest way to improve. I believe that making a playlist about training in continuation of that video would be very helpful and could have a great success.
As a young Swiss player, there are not many opportunities to have organized trainings compared to other countries or indoor. And even though there are videos on youtube that show different drills, these are often short and the intended level of the players often seems to be random. Choosing from this variety of drills that are scattered on the internet can be confusing and I often catch myself watching one of these and then forgetting about it a few days later.
I think you should try a playlist of training recommendations for 4 relatively advanced players (Players that play tournaments, but don't play professionally are more likely to want to train without a coach than intermediate players who usually prefer to just play games. ) and then if the videos do well, you could do another one where you change the level or the number of players. Some of the exercices could also divide the players in smaller groups.
Here are some examples of drill videos that came to my mind:
Example of a full and proper warmup, drills to improve overall technique, drills for cut shots and digging, drills for spiking and blocking, drills for service and passing, drills for pulling out from the block, drills to learn to get low on the sand quicker for digs, drills to attack after a distant set, and so on. I'm sure you have many more and better ideas.
After choosing what they want to work on the next training, people would be able to take a look at it and select the right exercices for the session. They could even have a note on their phone with all the time stamps on it. So they can watch the next drill during the water break. This way, they would have access to an easy to find, well organized and truly good selection of exercises, instead of trying to improvise on the court and wasting time trying to remember long forgotten drills.
I want to thank you again for this amazing channel and congratulate you for the milestone!

Heyy! Good suggestions, and thoughts! And thank you!
I ended up expanding on this idea quite a lot in the answering session episode, both about that I have something similar to this coming up, but also some reasons for why I am hestitant to create something like this haha! Hope it is an insightful listen. Direct link to the "answer" is here:

Congrats on the milestone! I love your theory and technique-focused approach to volleyball.
Where are, in your opinion, the best places in the world to play a lot of great volleyball? Be that beach or indoor or grass.
    Also what’s your favorite food?

Heyy! Thanks! Good to hear its not only my mind that likes my approach! :)
Fun questions! I got them in the answering episode, ruclips.net/video/AxD3Fw59Lrc/видео.html (haha lots of side stories and thories on this one..!) and ruclips.net/video/AxD3Fw59Lrc/видео.html :)

    Hi Alex!
I'm playing in a recreational 6s league. I'm taking up a bit of a coaching role within the team. I am having trouble giving instruction to a shorter girl on the team (5ft tall) who is new to the sport. She's particularly having trouble with the 3rd ball when she's in the front row. We've gone over bump, volley, (standing) hits, tomahawks, and pokeys, but I don't think she's found her style yet. I feel like she should get the ball a bit further away the net so it doesn't have to go straight up. For extra information, she has very good underhand serves. What do you recommend to help her? We do some drills after our games but don't practice individually.

In high level play, how often are angle blocks called? Would you recommend a strategy of always blocking line?

If the defender is sitting deep middle what do you call for your partner? High line is gettable and so is high angle. Congrats!

I'd call "cut". if they stand deep they cant get the short ones. Especially the short ones land faster ^^

Hey! Fun question! I tend to agree with @frederic declerck here, but I did discuss it a little bit further in the answering session. Here's a direct link to the answer, hope it helps! :)

I "finally" listened to the podcast and love the more detailed answer.
I have 1 point of discussion and 1 more suggestion for the offense.
The short drop shot line over the block is another great shot. In fact it's probably my 1st or 2nd "go to ". So I can only support that. Funny thing is the people I play with (multiple groups) use it much less. By now I should have figured out a way to call that shot haha. Any, suggestion welcomed.
      Back at the original question, @talanky 1 thing that I run everytime I can is to hit from the middle. That way, assuming there is a block, either the defender will pick a side and then he shouldn't be deep middle anymore , so the other side is open for a shot;
      Or
He still is deep middle and going short either side should work.

Actually, "Short line" is my top contender for that call ^^. Need to incorporate it into my list of calls that my brain has access to right after a set haha

Is doing a jump float worth it vs a standing float? Even pros I see do it don't jump high when they do it so it seems like losing the control on the ball is not worth the 6 inches of height. Is there another benefit of it?

    • @LearnBeachVolleyballFast
      @LearnBeachVolleyballFast  2 года назад

      Heyy! Good question!
So unfortunately I already went ahead and recorded the answering session, sowon't be answering this question there, but fortunately this one is relatively simple to answer in text! :)
Soo benefits of jump floating. You are probably quite right here, often it might not be worth it. In general I believe that for floatserving, the most important thing is to figure out how to get the ball to float in the conditions of the day (remember that every day and even hour to hour can be different and sometimes how you make the ball float will change with the conditions), and if this is problematic to do with a jump-float then it may be much better to do a standing float.
That being said, maybe it is quite easy to keep the control with a "half ass" jump like you say many players do, whereas losing control really just becomes a problem if you try to max jump? I guess this all depends on how used to jump-floating you are.
But anyway, a couple other benefits I can see from jump floating vs standing, is that you can "get momentum" for the runup to the block if you are serving but then blocking afterwards. Might save some milliseconds there, and sometimes those milliseconds can be crucially important.
Another one is that you can jump into the court, which might help from time to time, basically the flight path of the ball will be shorter this way.
Another one is that the 6 inches or whatever the amount of extra height you can get can actually have quite a big difference, because it can allow you to serve harder but still make the ball go in. Without having my physics 100% in order here, I'd say this will be especially true if you can hit the ball from a higher point than the net, so that the ball has a downward trajectory all the way from the hand to the court/player on the other side of the net.
So yeah... is it worth it? I guess it can be worth it, but also it can not be worth it, like most other things haha! :) Hopefully this gave your mind something more to churn on though!
On another note, I did notice that you sent in several questions in the answering episode, and I liked that so actually talked a little bit about it. Here is a direct link to that part of the episode!

@@LearnBeachVolleyballFast You're amazing thank you for the thorough answer! Maybe I will still play around with jump float to see if I can develop one. Can't wait to listen to the episode!

@@talanky Hahah nice! Yess, pick a type of jump float and try it out. I have never made a video about a jumpfloat, but actually one of my first videos which is about analyzing with the help of video, the example happens to be a jumpfloat and people have reported it has helped them develop a jump float even though that was not the intention of the video! 😅😅
It's this video, roughly 6 minutes into the video and forward: ruclips.net/video/d_AMNaKNxP4/видео.html
