Was a huge Hornsby fan back then...I still check out his music now and again...There is a bluegrass version of this song that Hornsby recorded with Ricky Scaggs on mandolin.
Check out 'The Way It Is' by him. Tupac recreated later for a fitting version of his upbringing of how things were for him and where he grew up. Two different stories but equally impactful.
Its just a wonderful song, a celebration of the piano He played for the BBC earlier this year in the piano room, with an orchestra and he still sounds fantastic. It might be on You Tube
Hi from Nashville.. the Mandolin has 8 strings, unlike the Guitar. It is most commonly used in Bluegrass music. One of my favorite instruments...Take care
Angela, Every Little Kiss is awesome, with like insane piano solos. My dad would play Bruce Hornsby and The Range songs when I was growing up. And OMG I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Willow was very relatable! I mean, as in my friend once said to me, "...you're like a black Willow", in high school lol
Absolutely love Bruce Hornsby, no one like this amazing musician, pianist, lyricist, producer, and all around genuine artist, Bruce is the real deal! Hope you listen to more of his music it will blow you away! Maybe take a listen to On The Western Skyline, Every Little Kiss, *The Way It Is, Down The Road Tonight, The River Runs Low, all great tunes!
Billy Joel makes good use of an accordion in his hit song "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" and for another with the instrument featured prominently you should check out Emerson , Lake & Palmer's hauntingly beautiful "C'est la Vie" ( French for "That's life" )
He has much more fluid and technical piano playing on some other songs but I am going to have to research it - he is just banging here but he can really solo very well
What an impact this album had! The Calgary Flames were in the Stanly Cup finals when I was into this. They lost To Montreal (I'm a Habs fan), but they had the Canadien's number in 1989. I was still into this album.

It's ok! Most of the 80's music, fads, lifestyles, give me the creeps! It's just an ominous and sinister feeling I get from that decade! Probably because of the doppleganger attitudes and lifestyle of that decade! Creepy beyond description! Goodbye until whenever! Love Or Let Me Be Lonely! Bonus points for guessing the group! Toodles!
a Mandolin is not a guitar. It is a stringed instrument like an Indian Satyr but it is not a guitar. Google it. and the Accordion. Wow they are expensive
The man knew how to write a melody
I love this song, another great one by Bruce Hornsby & The Range is "Every Little Kiss"

I was on my way to boot camp when somebody on the bus played this. We were all feeling scared and nervous and this tune calmed me.
That is one of the most meaningful comments I've read in a long time. Great music can have that effect on us
In ‘86 I reported to the third ship of my Navy career 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
@@dalesouders4136 Thank you for your service.
Gosh she’s so pretty ❤
Very Melodic song with that Mandolin in the background and the piano.
Angela, you should listen to that whole album!!!

Beautiful song and a sweet reaction Angela!! 😊
He he also plays the piano on Bonnie Raitt song I Can't Make You Love Me if you don't
And on The End Of The Innocence by Don Henley
Its just a wonderful song, a celebration of the piano

It as nice to see you enjoy the Mandolin. You should listen to Mono Lisas and Mad Hatters by Elton John. Excellent Mandolin
Bruce played on The End of The Innocence by Don Henley. Similar sound.
Not only that, he has also co-written the song.
The Show Goes On, is another great song. It was also in a movie, but I can’t remember which one.
This song brings back a bunch of feelings and emotions from back in the day. It is just called a mandolin.

Shoutout to Nashville! I'm from there too. Living in Brooklyn now.

I played the according. I was a jock and a cool dude in highschool. When people found out it kinda dampered my image. Lol
He is so good just really really good

In the mid 80s , in the midst of Pop ( not knocking in any way) it was refreshing to hear real instruments, and a great song.❤
My favorite by them. Thanks for the reaction.
He was much appreciated at the time, I used to play the album on cassette as I drove my taxi, uplifting. Enjoy your take.
There are actually two mandolins playing in the background
Great tune, I haven’t heard this in years, thanks
I know I've said before... he used to play basketball with us, when I was in college... very cool guy
Excellent song
Hadn't heard this in a while. Good song. Speaking of mandolins, try "Would You Go With Me" by Josh Turner.
He has much more fluid and technical piano playing on some other songs but I am going to have to research it - he is just banging here but he can really solo very well

You should listen to Higher Love by Steve Winwood I think you'll love it he happens to be Bruce hornsby's cousin
First CD I ever baught.
Welcome back Angela 🙏
Angela, you chose one hell-of-a-song... This was the song that made me get the CD which is also very good...
Anything from his "Harbor Lights" album is good.
❤❤❤❤
"The show goes on", "The long valley road" and "Every little kiss" are all good songs by Bruce as well.
Just my imagination by the temptations please.
Nice
I have always thought this is a great song.
What's going on Angela? F.Y.I. Billy Joel said Bruce Hornsby is the best piano player that he knows, believe it or not!?
Great song Angela, you leave no doubt when you love a song.Your open pretty face exudes happiness

The sound you hear that you like so much is is the is the Mandarin guitar
It's a Mandolin
