New River is less than 1.5 miles away, offering canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing, biking and more. Elk Knob State Park, at 5520 feet, is a High Country favorite with hiking, camping, picnicking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing just 8 miles away.

This classic log style cabin has all the modern conveniences like quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, mini air conditioning and heat, Swedish Blueair filtration on all levels, 2 large streaming smart TVs, front loading washer and dryer, and ping pong table downstairs. High ceilings and large wooden beams give this cozy cabin a hint of rustic mountain charm. There is a spacious back deck for entertaining and dining with views of the surrounding mountains. Fireplaces and picnic areas are on the grounds, park-like with countless trees for hanging your ENO-style Hammock or pitching a tent, and the unique 4.5-acre grounds have ample fields for walking the dog, playing frisbee, or spectating children run and play.
The entire top floor consists of a large master bedroom with a king bed and a second living room. The seating area includes a 50-inch Smart TV with streaming and a queen-size pullout gel sleeper sofa. This room includes a private upstairs balcony where you can relax, eat or watch the wildlife in the surrounding trees. Additional guests will enjoy the main floor sofa, which converts into a queen size bed with the light of the wood burning fireplace visible.
Big Hill Cabin is located on a gentle hill with easy access from a paved neighborhood road. The covered front deck entry has a classic mountain rocker and bench swing for fresh air and views in any weather. There is plenty of parking area to park three cars comfortably. Heating and air conditioning is provided with a mini split unit. A dog is welcome with a reservation at Big Hill Cabin, and additional pet fees apply.
