I enjoyed playing this game with my older sister when I was a kid. she passed away due to cancer a week before double dash release. Watching this game reminds me so much of her😢

I loved this game so much. The N64 as a whole in 96 and 97 was an absolute dream.
I’m probably in the minority, but I enjoyed N64 more than PlayStation.

@@atroll4160Tough to say, what i will say is Nintendo has always been best for in house entertainment. Many PS and Xbox games require you to get online with friends from your own homes. Nintendo still has the best in house games in my opinion.

I don't know maybe it's because i never grew up playing this game, but nostalgia aside this game has not held up that well to this day in terms of graphics.

Watching someone else play this, I finally get an idea of how the courses are laid out with curves and turns. When you're playing, you're so focused on avoiding everything and staying in first.

My little 9 year old self saw this game in the basement at my grandpas house and I immediately fell in love with this game I loved this Mario kart ever since I played it for the first time on my grandparents’ Nintendo 64, every time I go to my dads when he used to live with them, I would always play this with him sometimes. Here now 19 years old turning 20 in September is incredible of how nostalgic this is. The best part is that I now own my own N64 with Mario Kart 64 so I won’t have to worry about never playing this game again with friends and such.

This was how my family bonded with eachother, my mom, dad, brothers and sister would always play this game together into our console. It was one of the best memories i've ever had.

Oh, I used to have so much fun playin' this game. One of my favorites from this system. I used to love flingin' them lil' bananas at foo's. I would always used Toad and Yoshi. They were hella fast. Toad's scream just cracks me up.
Luigi and Peach > Toad and Yoshi because they go fast, not as much as toad and yoshi, but they are heavier so they are harder to make spin out

The quality of the sound in this game made it so much more fun. The way the character's yells pan and fade as you hit them with a shell and they fly above and behind you. Wario and Toad had the funniest yells too 8). 27:35

The ai is worst in mk8 imho. You will get coins in 1st place most of the time and bombarded with red shells, blue shells, lightning.

We just bought our kids a Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart for Christmas and I immediately thought of this game. I was in my late teens when I played this, but I was obsessed for a few years! I played it with my older brother, mom, and just myself. Lots and lots of memories. In fact, as soon as I started this video, every single sound effect seemed like I just played it yesterday. So crazy!

Fun Fact: According to A+ Start, the character models & tree models are all 2D sprites, even that Luigi Hot Air Balloon was a 2D sprite, but would turn into a 3D sprite if you got closer to it in Luigi Circuit.
