- This is a complete 100% walkthrough (longplay) of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 in full 1080p HD. This video showcases the entire game. Every unlockable character is unlocked along with the unlockable stage, sound test and item switch. All cutscenes are shown along with the menus and character data.
This game is being emulated on the Mupen64Plus core in RetroArch. This provides enhanced visual quality and lower input latency than both standalone emulators and original hardware. There are some drawbacks that come with using an emulator such as some audio and visual glitches; however, these issues are very minimal for this game. The quality that comes with using the Mupen64Plus core in RetroArch is well worth it for this video.

19:11 It’s always sad to see Satoru Iwata in the credits because he’s no longer with us. For those who don’t know, Iwata was Nintendo’s president until his death in 2015 from a tumour in his bile duct. Iwata’s last game was the original Super Mario Maker, which launched a few months after his death
His best work was in his programing and debugging abilities. As a president he is responsible for the wii era which is hot garbage in my opinion. But as a programmer he is awesome!!!!

I was born in late December 1992, got to see and experience a n64 in 1999 with my passed sheriff uncle (2016 sadly) and her daughter my cousin (same age) when they bought it over at my grandma's house, games were Zelda ocarina of time, Mario 64, Mario party 1, donkey Kong 64, starfox 64, and this exact super smash bros 64 game, as we all sat together my passed sheriff uncle, my passed grandma (in 2020 unfortunately) my close age cousin and I watching playing sharing the N64 for a very long day that time of my life!
I will always miss that and will never forget that!
I remember playing this game at a children's hair salon a long time ago. And when I started playing Super Smash Bros. Melee after I got it for my 11th birthday, I knew it looked familiar, right after I played Super Smash Bros. 64 a few years prior.

Here’s a fact: The Beam Sword item really is based on the Star Wars Lightsaber. This is because Masahiro Sakurai was a huge fan of Star Wars at the time and decided to put a reference to the franchise in the game. Also, in the Japanese version the Beam Sword sounds like a Lightsaber too, but the sound effect it makes was changed to a simple swoosh noise in the international versions to avoid copyright issues

I love this game a ton, it’s my favorite N64 title. First played it on my cousin’s N64 console as a kid when Brawl the latest game, and then got to own it for myself from the Wii’s Virtual Console, and thought it was a pretty damn cool game. I know it’s not the best Smash game, I think its age kinda shows (I’d give that title to Brawl or Ultimate), but this is a game I still come back to to vibe and have fun with

I've never knew how to unlock Luigi, but this is where I met and discovered Pokemon, as I unlocked Jigglypuff only...on a Wii console that my dad sadly no longer owns.

I literally just purchased the game refurbished. I had the opportunity to play for a couple of minutes to get the nostalgic feeling when I was younger. I totally missed this game and I’m glad I finally have it along with my Nintendo 64.

Ah, the original Smash Bros. I always felt this game was criminally underrated...sure it was really simplistic and bare-bones compared to later Smash games, but there was a certain charm to the original game that its contemporaries just don't have. That said, when/if there's another Smash game to succeed Ultimate, I'd really like to see that game return to the series' roots as an homage to the original.
In the meantime, this is the one N64 game I'm looking forward to on Switch Online more than anything else.

On my 31st birthday Dec 3rd my mom and I were so excited very happy that I bought a n64 for 100 bucks with handfuls of free N64 games for ssb, Zelda oot/mm, Mario 64, cruisin USA, and Mario party 2/3! Hopefully will be getting more N64 games soon! So glad I brought a N64 in my whole entire life!

It’s not too hard to get the 4 unlockable characters. For Luigi, play target test as Mario and clear it under 2 minutes. For Jigglypuff, just clear 1P mode for the first time. Ness, clear 1P mode in less than 15 minutes. And Captain Falcon: clear 1P mode on normal or harder having 3 or less starting stocks and without continuing if you lose all your stocks.

On the character select screen, what do the numbers next to the high scores mean? [Three digits in brackets] I cant figure it out and cant find it anywhere. It's not continues or number of lives used. Help?
The number in the parenthesis is the amount of special bonuses you were awarded. For example, at 3:50, you can see I got 7 bonuses. I earned a total of 46 special bonuses throughout Mario's run which is shown in the character select at 20:31.

Man the graphics are a lot worse than I remember. I guess the CRTV fuzziness really covered up quite a bit of the jaggies.
Beating this game in an emulator took me 3 WHOLE HOUR.
