    I have an idea for a video series, "Where did they come from". Sort of like the opposite of this video, where you examine a successful club and tell the background story for every player/manager and how they ended up at the club.

    Good move for Tomori, Most English players get lost in the big team picture, Foden is an exception and that speaks to the nature of his talent perhaps. Until Lampard, most players from the academy struggled to get a look in , same for most of the other big team too. The loan system is more of a market place than a conveyor belt due to the pressures at money at stake.

    The reason why people talk more about U17 than U20 teams is pretty obvious: The best players don't play at U20 level, but go directly to the senior team. The fact that there is no player on this list as good as any of the ones he listed for the U17 team is a proof of that

    • @ChibuzorNwaezeapu
      @ChibuzorNwaezeapu 2 года назад +3

      Not entirely true. Maybe for England and that may explain why English teams struggle at the top end of senior competition. There's no conveyor belt when these guys have played together and won together to give them the confidence, unlike Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and France who typically take the progression seriously. England see it as a non cohesive pipeline. Some other top countries rely on these structures to replace the senior teams in a cohesive form. Players learn to fit into an ideology or system over tine, which us hard at senior level given the limited time an international manager has

    • @niks2392
      @niks2392 2 года назад +1

      @@ChibuzorNwaezeapu I am German and the great young German players don't play U20s (Havertz, Musiala just some examples from recent years)
      I think it has to do with the progression of academies and how a talent used to be someone at the age of 21 to 23 when nowadays this is considered an age at which a player is pretty much who he is going to be moving forward. Sure, they can still improve, but if a guy is not there at 20-21, he probably won't ever be on the level of one of the great national teams

    Isn’t it about Time We are seeing Academy Players finally breaking through into the big Teams in the Premiership instead of dropping down the Leagues and playing in the Championship as a Career High…. Chelsea have Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-odoi and Reece James and even Lofus-Cheek forcing His way back into the Team, they are the Heart of the Chelsea Team…. Arsenal have Smith-Rowe and Saka and Ramsdale, Man City have Foden absolutely smashing it…. This wouldn’t have happened 10 Years ago, and let’s Face it Manchester City are the best Team on the Planet right now and amazingly their 3 attacking line up are all English with Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling…. Also English Players are finally starting to move abroad and experience different styles of Football like Top Players do from other Nations…. There does seem to be a Good bond with the current England Team whereas in the past especially in the 2006 Golden Generation everybody hated each other and couldn’t let go of their Egos for the Good of the Nation…. But in 2022 things are looking the best they’ve been since 1966 for England….

    Video idea:
    Take the top seven premier league goal scorers and find their value per premier league goal. So take the transfer fees and wages the cost of the player and find out how much the club payed for goal. Then the top 7 most valuable goal scorers, to make it less research intense you could do a minimum appearance?

Lamptey and Livramento had no way into the Chelsea team cause of James so they moved to midtable clubs and are now on fire and making a name for themselves. There's plenty of other examples. Sure, there's the occasional Lewis Baker or Baba Rahman who get stuck in an eternal cycle of loans but that's basically cause they're not good enough. They're championship level players who find their level and Chelsea move them on for some money.

    I was at the final in South Korea and was very impressed by a lot of players who were playing. As I live here, I followed the whole competition and found it funny that the Koreans bought up all the final tickets, but as soon as they were knocked out by Portugal in the round of 16, they cancelled them all meaning I could go to final.
    The players...The player who really stood out to me the whole of the competition was Ojo. Woodman was excellent throughout. Jonjoe Kenny was bombing down the wing with intent and looked really good. Tomori was very assured at centre back. Walker-Peters excellent like Kenny. Those two showed their credentials as wing backs. Onomah had an excellent final. Solanke bullied all the defences he played against (thought he'd go onto much much bigger things) Lookman pushes Ojo for the player who impressed me the most during the World Cup. DCL was excellent too. And his partnership with Solank was fantastic.
    It seems weird to think how these players careers have gone. DCL and Tomori have gone onto bigger things and players like AMN have kind of stalled, even though he's got it all to be a big player. Maybe it's just a case of finding the right clubs, I suppose. But like I said, Ojo was the one stand out player for me, who's gone nowhere really after showing such promise in these finals.
    Always funny to think that I saw England win a World Cup. And I didn't know the words to the national anthem either. Boring rubbish.
