As an arsenal fan, even though aubameyang had a an unfortunate end to his time at arsenal, we still still love him dearly for everything he had done for us, the fact that he won the golden boot for us after years of us not having a prolific striker was truly one of my favorite memories of him.

Mustafi has to be the single biggest disaster signing of the last decade. He was meant to be our Vidic or Stam, and on top of being underwhelming as a player he showed no capacity to learn from his mistakes. Physically looks the part but mentally his concentration levels weren't anything like a top league centre back.
He possibly cost Wenger and Emery their jobs with his play and the lack of depth due to our investment in him.

Valencia 2014-15 had a central back pairing with Mustafi and Otamendi. I'm sure they made each others look better than they were by being utterly useless.

He was a CB that could defend fast forwards and not be a total liability in the air. When he lost his pace he became a liability.

as an arsenal fan, aubameyang is a true legend of the emirates era. He brought us so much joy with his goals, and also the way he carried us to the FA cup victory. He could of easily left after that FA cup win too, signed a good deal with a more succesful club at the time. But he stayed saying he believed in the project and wanted to become a legend at the club. It was very sad to see him go, but it was the right descion and im always so happy when i see him score at barca. He will always be a hero of the club in my eyes.

Hey Alfie, I just thought of a cracking idea for a video you could do on the turbulent recent history of Goztepe in the Super Lig. They’re one of the Super Lig’s most well supported clubs (a bit like a Newcastle United, Sunderland or Strasbourg if you may). In the 2001/02 season, they finished seventh in the top flight, however from 2002 to 2008, they were relegated five times in six seasons, due to their inability to reduce their outstanding debt which resulted in the football club being banned from signing new players during that time. In August of 2007, a business based in Istanbul, vowed to take them back to the top flight making them one of the top five clubs in the country, but they were met with lots of suspicions from the fan base, and then they handed over the ownership to another bloke called Mehmet Sepil in 2014. Anyway, they’re back in the Super Lig as a solid mid table/weaker top half team. Why am I bringing all this up? Because apparently Abramovich is looking to possibly buy the club himself, after being sanctioned from the UK. It’s a crazy crazy story and may you could look into this, not to mention, they are not only a rare example of a club that is considered a neighbourhood club, as well as the fact that they’ve played in 3 different stadiums since 2011, but also in 1969, they became the first Turkish football team to play a semi-final of a European competition.

It's reported that Giroud was actually part of a three part swap where Arsenal got Auba from Dortmund, Chelsea got Giroud from Arsenal, and Dortmund got Batshuayi on loan. It's essentially been said that each team was willing to let go of each player, so long as they were able to get the player they wanted in turn. It makes it slightly incorrect to say that Aubameyang was brought in after Giroud was left, but only because they were essentially part of one convoluted deal.

Don't worry Arsenal fans, Mustafi ain't as bad as Maguire. Unlike Maguire, he never captained your club to obscurity. Aubameyang was a hit for Arsenal, one of the reasons why Arsenal was able to win the FA cup. Neither Arsenal or Manchester United got the better deal with the MKH and Sanchez swap deal. Both of them failed and both of them play in the Serie A.

the main problem was the scouting of the club went from being ahead of the curb when Wenger arrived to outdated in his last half decade in the club which forced the club to revamp things quickly with Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi who often butted head with each other, it all ended up being a disaster. Quick note on Mavropanos:
Stuttgart are obligated to buy him for 3M€ if they’re staying up but still have to option to buy for that price if they are relegated which they would obviously do considering his current market value (17M€ according to transfermarkt). @raetekusu1 2 года назад +4

There's also the fact that our CB situation is a problem. In seasons past, it was a bad problem, but it's shaping up to be a good problem, if that makes sense.
Since getting rid of Mustafi and Luiz, we now have an extremely great pairing of White and Gabriel, with Holding behind them to back them up and being pretty solid in his own right. Saliba will likely be coming back in the summer to round out or CB rotation after several great loans in France, meaning Mavro would have to compete with them for playing time. It's a problem, but it's a nice problem to have. A solid CB was going to be sold one way or the other, so Mavro is looking like the one to be let go.

    • @flixrus9473
      @flixrus9473 2 года назад +4

@Rytex During the first part of the season Mavro was on fire like no one else in our squad. Since then his inconsistency and lack of experience has been more present again. Alfie, would you consider doing a video on the rise and fall of the Socceroos and Australian football in general? Since peaking around 2006, the game has stagnated and now declined so much that were very likely to miss the world cup for the first time in 20 years.
Crap coaching and youth development, a stale and almost dead national competition, ridicolously expensive fees for juniors & youth, and a federation governance war are just some of the issues that have contributed to our demise in the last few years.

To be far a lot of it has to come down to Arnold and his horrible coaching, he always needs wings that cross in the box that's all well and good but if the cross is getting blocked he does not train the wings to be able to cut in and move around, so they get stuck just crossing it, he hardly ever picks our best team with people like Jamie and Rogic.
His want to play out the back even when losing is horrible, it's not a mistake that when he picked out best side we scored 4 goals easy.
Need to get rid of the coach i mean we have decent players we had a guy in Man city's dev team, we have one in Dortmund, our Keeper plays for Real Sociedad, Prem team wanted to buy Rogic before His team blocked it and Jamie would not look out of place in the prem with someone like Southampton.
Some heat does need to go to our players as last time I watched I counted 7 times when they could have advanced up the field but no midfielder or forward tried to get clear of his marker and that forced our backs to just pass it around until someone was open by chance.

Its sad that it didnt turn out the Wenger wanted. I think he knew it was his last season and tried to buy a defense that could be solid for years and revamp the attack until we could figure our offense for the the future. We didnt try in the mdifield because if xhaka ramsey became what we thought they could it would only need minor tweaks. Kolasinic coming off a career year on the cheap who could play on the left or center back. Mustafi looking good in multiple leagues and potentially becoming a mainstay german international would have solidified one half of the backline. Lacazette was a consistent 15-20 goals plus his assists in France for years. Miki was a gamble but its the best we could get for sanchez and like Alfie said he was a powerhouse at Dortmund. The crowning achievment was auba though. Even in the banter years he was unreal and its a shame him and Arteta didnt get along. Aubameyang could have been a legend at Arsenal if he had bought in to Arteta ball.

Well George Best would be number one on the list. Even as an Arsenal fan it is hard not to recognise the genius of the man. I've always thought that, instead of the European Championships, it would be good to have an International competition which pitted the best players from each of the European Leagues against each other. Maybe a limit of four players from one side in the squad so you couldn't just stick the entire Liverpool team in the competition.

Auba's form just wasn't there the last 2 seasons so, I was glad we terminated his contract and let the guy go wherever, to find his form again. It happens, but will forever be grateful for what he did when he was at the top of his game. However long he has left on his career, I hope he smashes it. Even if it is at a team I despise.
