      @@turnt983 you don't need a super expensive digital tablet to do good digital art! I got mine for around £60, its not a touch screen one but I find it does the job perfectly well and I dont feel the need to upgrade to some super expensive £800 cintiq :)

      Why do you differentiate? People who learn traditionally have zero issue with digital other then slight learning curve on actually navigating whatever device/program/'s. A true artist can art on anything and has no "traditional or digital" box they have to stay in. A "digital artist" is someone who didn't bother to learn how to improve themselves and literally have to rely on their machine to do "their art" for them. They are stuck in that box and its sad.
      I love all of Cosmic's art but her traditional colored ink is her best by far. That is just my opinion of course.

      @@ducksoff7236 I absolutely agree i worded my words wrong and it seemed like i wanted to fully transfer over to becoming a digital artist, but honestly i just want to do digital to experiment with colors. I’m not that great with using colored pencils which i’m trying to practice with, but digital just seemed fun!

    Oh my god the thick lines with the outline to make pearls and metal and the straps on the shoes is a godsend of an idea. Watching you paint those pearl trims and earrings in seconds blew my mind. I'm definitely going to try using that next time for the more polished look on them!

    this is SOOOO helpful, im definitely taking notes LOL - I also love having lineart in my work but I havent been satisfied with it lately bc I feel like it either competes with or doesnt complement my coloring - I love how seamless and straightforward your steps are. Esp the tip about using different brushes for different parts of the lineart, and using a mix of a hard brush and gradients for the shadow layer. I absolutely love how these drawings turned out, thank you for being so thorough in your explanation and for all your inspiring videos!!

    Tip: set your line art layer to multiply and it will change colors automatically according to the flats colors

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  11 месяцев назад +1

      It's not the same effect at all. Multiply is a cross between the color of the linework and the flats underneath. It creates a mess, and you need to be 10 times more precise with the flats. Sometimes, I choose a lighter color for linework as well, I do it manually because I like to have 100% control.

    Great work! Thanks for posting. I’m no expert in digital art, and you probably already know about this, but have you tried flatting in Clip Studio Paint using a reference layer? Since you’re inking everything, it should make it easy and fast. No selecting needed, and you can drag the cursor across several adjacent areas with the same color all at once.

    Do you think about the shadows, like plan them out while you're drawing, or do you just ink and then figure out the shading?

    just a question but do you use reference for the main concept design of the characters? i have been struggling with charac design and i have no idea how to use a reference either so yeah just casually asking a lot of artist if they're using references XD (ok nvm i just got to 10 mins and yup you're indeed using a ref thank you very much)

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  11 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the situation. Most of the time I use refs for specific parts of the design, mainly anything I don't already know how to draw. This is less character design and more just fashion art for fun, I designed this character ages ago and her fashion is always different.

      @@beysmentssecuritycamera6013 kinda agree with you there, I'm not sure what exactly made anyone assume Barbie was a love story - just because there's a male and female lead doesn't mean it has to be a love story - we don't make those assumptions about male Main Character films. It is cringe to be mad a female led story wasn't about her falling in love with the male lead.
