As someone who has no patience with their art, spending over 7 hours on a piece seems a bit daunting, but you have inspired me to try putting more effort into my sketches and rendering. Definitely not 7 hours worth, but I’ll work my way up lol :D I love your work

lovee hearing about your characters and their development! I also have the same problem of all my characters looking like supermodels ahaha and while its a valid thing to critique, I always think that the artist who is drawing 100+ pages of these characters should be excited to draw them, so they should be as "attractive" or "unattractive" as they want as long as they're fun to draw 💌💌
Exactly! I think as long as the characters aren't stiff, it's fine. I definitely have a bit of a mountain ahead of me when it comes to designing the older characters... definitely have to add some variation there LOL but that's a problem for another day 😂

The new lineup gives all the characters so much more personality with just one glance. Especially the shoes, it's an overlooked detail but says so much about the characters when they are wearing uniforms.

I sometimes worry that I put in too many details when writing the bios for my characters since some of it probably would never be revealed to the audience, but it brings me a lot of joy and gets my thinking juices flowing

The difference between your art now and IDFracture is PHENOMENAL!!!! I can still recognize their personalities but your art improved so much it's insane! I found your artbook at a bookstore in Amsterdam a while ago. I want it so bad ha everything is SO GORGEOUS!
I think for main characters its normal for them to all be 'attractive' i guess, your designs are phenomenal btw. I would say maybe for supporting characters(?) to have different body types but also I think most of them are pretty young and around the same age so them being similar 'sizes' and such makes sense. Most of the characters each have different heights/silhouettes anyway, as well as their uniforms being custom designed for their personality. What is most important is that the designs reflect what you want/what the story is.

There’s a novel series called the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, and I feel like your style would suit it beautifully. I would love to see your artistic take on the characters, if you’ve read it or would like to
AAAAH WHEN I SAW THIS ON MY TIMELINE I THOUGHT I WAS TRIPPING AND WAS LOOKING AT THE LINEUP CREATION VIDEO BUT *NO* IT'S REALLLL
Most of my characters really defined themselfs over time through drawing „mistakes“ and quick ideas that somehow popped up and so on.
The worst in any character design (in my opinion) is if all characters looks somehow the same, Kind of related and also have the same expression and dynamic. In Comics and illustrations, i want to recognize everyone by maybe the hair, that one special shape or exprssion. Ive noticed that „everyone looks kind of the same“ in Many comics and Mangas and was always so confused by that:) Also , complicated designed characters dont have it most of the time too, simple can also be so great. Simple color palettes, shapes, dynamic is totally my thing bec fanart is so much more fun to do if it isnt a endless struggle to pick out all the tiny baby details on every character:)

I totally agree! The same-face syndrome thing doesn't bode well for character design/comics for sure (even though for just one off illustrations, a lot of artists can actually benefit from same face syndrome in regards to their work being super recognizable haha). And yeah I also think simpler can be a lot more iconic if done right, I'm not a fan of excessive details myself; I think you can always tell when somebody is just trying to create visual 'interest' with excessive detailing or patterns, but to me it always looks like unnecessary clutter unless everything has a clear reason.

Nah old Sock had the punchable face vibe. This truly gives me greasy haired punk kid, that you like in small doses because he's trying too hard. Progress! You can make the ugliest character, and someone will still find them attractive. Like all the people who think murders are hot. It's ok make them hot. This video also reminded me that I don't draw my oc's enough, thank you for showing yours off!

lol too good looking, is there such a thing when it come to drawing your own characters? the newer character design def looks like older teenagers, not cartoonish
I feel like Fiona's colors are more cohesive in the older lineup... His new hair color and skin color don't really harmonize together, maybe the hair is too much of a "greenish" yellow and the skin is too greyish to compliment the hair color. Otherwise, all the characters look amazing! Love your style.
