You can hear genuine pain in her voice, and that's a telent very VERY few artists have. Evanescence was and always will be one of my top favorites.

My immortal was recorded some years ago but Amy is still singing with the same unique way and lovely voice......and we are talking about a very difficult song requiring special technique.......and this is where pure talent comes in!!!!

She knows how to work the mic, it's such a difficult song to sing, so many volume changes, what a fricken pro.
Looks like she’s using a condenser mic, usually used in a recording studio. It is much more sensitive than a dynamic mic, usually used for live performance.
You can tell she feels sadness singing my immortal, i hope she knows that she has helped a lot of people through some sad times with this song.

@@Route166NJ Correct. It helps to allign her body and breathing to the melody, it flows through her. It's a good thing the Earth isn't made of glass, we would last exactly one live performance :)
This is a hard song to finish...holding the notes, especially breathing, she was pissed at the mtv award if I'm not mistaken, something went wrong...the bass n guitar i think...this kind of song is not straight forward, need the hands movements to help as if reading the note, controlling, breathing, etc

@@angelalfee It was the Billboard Music Awards. The band was awful. The guitarist was totally off key. The drummer had way too much bass. And I believe somehow Amy’s piano got messed up before the performance and nobody told her. She and the conductor had to have a really quick pow wow beforehand so the orchestra could adjust. And honestly, to be fair Amy a little off herself that that too. I think her voice is absolutely beautiful, but that’s the worst I’ve ever heard her sound.

This is it. I have never liked any of these "amazing singers" like Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce etc. They are good, I'm not denying that. But Amy is technically just as good AND I can feel every emotion through her voice. I would gladly listen to someone who's not as good technically but gives me the emotion. Amy has both.
Pure talent is not appreciated anymore. Her voice is such a beautiful instrument, she demands our attention, and then mesmerize us with her melodies. It was only a few that could capture everyone's attention and she is one of them.
Only other I could compare her to voice-wise is Sara Barielles. Her a cappella work is incredible. Ariana Grande could be close too, I just don't care for her music. However, her performance cover of 'I Have Nothing' was incredible.

I've always loved this song.just so beautifully sung and such amazing words. My mum passed away after battling dementia for over 10 years and now can't help but think of my dad (who is still going strong) because he really did hold her hand and wiped away all of her fears through all of those years! Beautiful song and I hope evanescence know what a beautiful song that they created and what it means to an awful lot of people 👏👏👏
