In one of the other videos I saw of a Black woman in her 70s who retired there as well, she said one of the things she loves most is that in Panama, she's not considered "old, Black, and female"... That they see her just as a regular human being without all those demographic categories that can be problematic in the US.

Cheri's original video is one I watched before taking the Panamaá Relocation Tour in June, 2017 and moving to Panamá in September of that same year. Like Cheri, I live in Alto Boquete and love it here. The Tour was worth every penny and helped me feel even better about my initial choice of Boquete. Since I speak a fair amount of Spanish, I'm happy to have a mixture of friends from Panamá and from the expat community. This week I'll be receiving my E-Cédula, a kind of national ID card, which makes me feel a little more Panameño. Living here in Chiriqui Province, I like my status as a "Chiri-Gringo."

Thank you Jackie, for these videos! They are super informative and love that it's all told by experiences of actual people relocating to Panama, it's just not a pretty advertisement to get people to move. I'm planning on moving to Panama and will definitely do the tour or at least buy the information packet. I've watched countless hours of these videos. My only decision factor is if I want to live at the beach or the mountains? That's why the tour would be a fabulous idea to make up my mind. I still have some years ahead of me before I retire. And if things don't change soon I will not have much for retirement. Therefore, there is no way I can still live in the states anymore. However, I'm looking forward to an adventure and end my golden years in a beautiful country like this. I've been researching other countries, like Portugal. But it all points to Panama.

Beautiful, perhaps we'll meet someday. I'm 63 and looking for a nice, safe place to retire. Coming from AZ the heat would not be an issue, although I hear the weather in Boquete is very mild. Nice to hear that you could have a lovely place such as yours for under $500. This for me would be perfect! as I am also fluent in Spanish. Would love to hear a little more, I hear lots of good things about Boquete, seems there's even a "Peruvian" restaurant there. Being Peruvian but having lived all my life in the US, this would be icing on the cake😀

I saw the first video and appreciate this update. Wife and I planned since late 2017 to relocate to an active 55 + community in FL (stayed there 3 times and loved it); however, it is off the list due to how the state -- not the community -- handled COVID and a few other things. Love and stayed in Greece 80 days annually since 2015, but as a resident, they want 7% of my taxable income (pension, dividends, etc.), so Panama topped over Portugal (which may soon want 10% of my US taxable income too). On waiting list for Jackie's sold out tour. Once house sells next Spring, we are headed down.

    • @PanamaRelocationTours

One of many great things about Panama is that they do NOT tax you on income you earn outside of Panama. You are only taxed in Panama for products or services you sell "IN" Panama.

Actually just fyi it may be of benefit to have basic cable it has shows in english but most importantly the news channels can help you learn and improve your spanish which is a priority just like it would be if someone moved to the states. Think about it as it can be extremely helpful to speed up the process also yhe news anchors speak good and proper spanish about local events, weather and even sports that can help diversify your vocabulary.

Hi (: I really enjoyed the video. I watched a few on Panama and was just about to get on with other things I had to do but I caught your video thumbnail and was gonna pass on it as it portrayed seemingly an older woman alone, in a strange country however curious I clicked on thinking if she is so brave why not I? When I opened it and began viewing I was immediately pleasantly surprised by your warm welcoming disposition, excellent diction, and striking good looks! I have a friend in Mexico who keeps urging me there but for a variety of reasons I keep putting it off. I have been thinking to travel somewhere I might consider to live and I really liked the idea you presented to contact and take the travel visit first with the lady who owns the company you suggested. I will look up here website further. Yours was the very best video I have seen and really has encouraged me to consider this idea seriously. Although I have really slowed down and changed my pace I still have driving ambitions though and must consider if I could actually unplug myself from access to major areas. I suppose it is always will be if required only a plane ride away? I have done this to a degree (unplugged) for the past three years, and in the rural mountains, lakes and snowy cold winters of Canada. I was looking into Vancouver Island earlier today which always stays above zero, and then thought why not go where there is warmth year round? I think it would be great at least in theory. I looked up the rainfall in Boquete as being 1400 mm annually which is quite high! Q. Does so much rain affect your mood? Yes / No? Thank You Soul much for your video. It inspired me! Boquete Panama eh? Have a wonderful day!

Regarding the rain: It's mostly happens about 8 months of the year and on those months it rarely rains all day. But when it rains, it pours! It can be quite the experience. But even on the rainiest days usually the sun comes out. People in Panama hardly get depressed from it because of that variety. In some places in the U.S. it can rain and rain for days on end and it can get very boring. I can almost guarantee that the weather will not be boring in Panama as it is much more vibrant and changeable. During parts of the year it is also like the rain picks a certain time of the day to fall, but then it's usually over with. On the dry season it doesn't hardly rain at all. There are two seasons in Panama. Rainy and Dry. It's breezier in the dry season, but you can have some windy rain at times in the rainy season. To get a good feeling of the weather, just point your favourite weather app to "Boquete, Chiriqui, Panama" and depending on the time of the year you can get a feel of how it is and for how long the rain lasts even in the rainy season. They say, if you don;t like the weather, just wait a while and it will change. lol that;s usually the case in the rainy season. In the dry season it's usually pretty constant and with blue skies. Hope that helps.

God's Daughter - As someone who has very recently & frequently explored Panama City, David, & Alto Boquette I can say that in researching the possibility of shipping household goods & cars can be more expensive than simply selling what you have then buying them there. Shipping was between $3,000 to $4,500 and then you'd have to arrange trucking it home.

both interviews are interesting and helpful, imho..but how is a person planning to retire/live abroad, in a 'foreign' nation, not learning the language from the start of the decision?..even if only the basics at the beginning?? free language lessons have been available, in spades, since NOT long after the internet was a thing..but 4.5 years later she claimed to just be starting out learning the language there?? wtf?? curious, as to who she voted for, last 3 elections..and who she's voting for this time around and *why??, exactly??*
as the first video/interview, I had the same *basic* question and now, *this* specific question because she brought up "Obamacare", AGAIN, in THIS 2nd vido..and not only was Obamacare NOT the best plan {I actually agree], I sure hope there is no need for censorship on this channel..because I'm genuinely curious why she didn't also mention the alternative scenarios on the table..which are disastrous.... *because...* it's:
not as IF the GOP plan for the eventual decimation of Medicare, it 'going private,' the many attempts at making it so, over the past many years, was ever a better solution.
