This is how I plan on tracing. I already have a lightbox for other crafts, so I thought it work great. Thanks for sharing these tips!

You are very welcome! And yay for already owning a lightbox! I love it when my "other" craft supplies come in handy for what I want to do now.

Thank you! This is really helpful. I'm planning to order a light box today for transferring designs onto fabrics for hand embroidery, and your tips on how to secure everything before starting to trace are especially helpful! I love your RUclips channel. Thanks for sharing!

This is a helpful video - thank you. I do wish you would hold the pen still though while you are showing it!

I'm so glad this was helpful for you! Sorry about the pen - I'm always reminding myself to keep things still when I'm talking, but sometimes I "talk" with my hands, lol.

Awesome tutorial! Looked at a few vids but this was exactly what i was looking for. Do you know if this would work on thick black felt? Im just getting started in the craft and have been practicing on cheap felt before i sacrifice my better scrap fabrics lol

Thank you so much! That's a great question. I love working with felt, but it does present some issues when it comes to pattern transfer. Unfortunately, I don't think this method would work well for felt, since it requires the surface on which your tracing to be smooth and firm (for the white graphite to transfer in a clean line).
If you're trying to transfer a detailed pattern onto felt, you can use an iron-on transfer pen, but that would mostly be for light colored felts. I think there is a white transfer pen, but I haven't personally tested it, so I don't know how bright it is and if it would show up on felt. I wish I had a better answer for you, because as I said, felt is wonderful, but it makes pattern transfer much more difficult!

Hi! Will this work to trace on denim? thanks in advance.

Hi Beatriz - I think it would depend on the denim you're using. If it's a smooth, dark denim, then yes. If it's a more textured denim, them probably (maybe) not. Lots of people who are stitching on denim use the Solvy Stick 'n Stitch, which is an interfacing on which you print your pattern, then stick it onto the fabric. You do your stitching, then wash away the interfacing.
