We followed her development at the St. Nazaire construction site, a building ground for the world’s biggest vessels. There more than 2,500 men working day and night, using the latest technological developments to lessen the environmental impact.

To be able to compact all the intricate and innovative challenges in the construction of a modern luxury cruise liner into 52 minutes, is in itself a formidable challenge commendably met by the producers. A few more graphic and computer generated depictions along with the commentary would have added much for those not to familiar with French. An excellent and educative documentary. Already saving up to take a long cruise on The Meraviglia.

The stuff they can build is absolutely amazing, can you imagine people from a long long time ago, seeing stuff like this? Mind blown lol
Man is always the same, we are still amazed to date how they happened to build the monuments like the pyramids of Giza. After all we're a generation descended many times after them, therefore it's because they existed that we are able to do what we are doing. When you see something strange and ignore it, its strangeness vanishes. As you are not astonished by what they did so they would not be astonished by what we are doing.
These mega construction projects I always find absolutely incredible!

Yo I didn't know Kate was this popular,my cousin trade with her for some months now, I tried but couldn't understand anything it's not my thing tho so I passed Lol. I can testify that trade pays very well because my cousin at 23 bought a house already.
When it comes to Trade, I can confidently say that bitcoin is the best option. But most people think it's all about buying and leaving it to rise but It takes a lot more you need to trade it to earn daily.

The orator keep saying it required six million hours to complete the job, that means 250,000 days which means 684.931 years of work, how can that be? I therefore bet it should have been six thousands hours equivalent to 6.84 years.

You can stand in awe as this mega project is accomplished, but they can't even feed and house the people on this dying, weather ravaged, drought ridden, resource depleted, massively polluted, sun scorched , war torn ball of toxic sewer sludge. Millions are starving and dying from drinking toxic water, but who cares as long as the middle and upper class nobles get to ride around and be catered to by their peasant servants. Now wonder WW III is approaching rapidly along with famine, war, disease, plagues and natural disasters mostly weather related, will end most of us sooner then most of the dumbed down sheeple are willing to admit. How many tons of sewage and waste will be dumped into the ocean from this luxury yacht.

Besides the wonderful documentary, I also love the idea that they did not dun the explanation of the engineers who worked on this masterpiece. It does not only respect the language, it also gives a chance to people who are hard of hearing understand what's being said by putting subs.

Problem is for people who are blind and can’t see the subtitles the most important and probably more accurate part of the documentary is missing.
@@andylane7142 These are TV-quality documentaries produced by the same companies that produces them for TV and all this has to be financed by ads, so they had to cut costs at some point and skipped dubbing and put subtitles instead.

lol I think they added up all the employees time spent together and with up to 2500 employees at a single time working on the ship, It could potentially be possible. I agree with you though, it wasn't a good way to describe the time because I even questioned it as soon as I heard them say it lol

If working 24 hours a day 365 days a year. About 3000 years if working 40 hours a week 50 weeks per year.
Wonder if that includes all the off-site fabrications 🤔
Hmmm, So that means my grandad and his two mates couldn't have built the titanic by themselves, and now that's going to make me question weather he built the empire state building with his three brothers.

They can only scratch the surface, in such a small amount of time. Especially when they spend so much time on the things they do talk about. For example, the propeller pods may be technical marvels, but all they really say about them is that they can rotate and thus greatly improve maneuverability. This can be communicated in five seconds, but they spend several minutes on it.
They are built into Modules. Then like Leggo Blocks welded.

I think the Argos home-furnishing department was closed. They seem to have raided a 1970's film set for most of the decor though! Horrific. It's like an episode of Columbo - the one where he's on a cruise ship with awful people.

What a great video, however just a quick mention; did you mention the the huge sheets of steel had to be soldered together? (1:07) I don't think soldering would have been the technique used, I think that a welding process is more appropriate.

Discovered a new trick for the ads, I let the entire program run while I do something else. then come back and replay the vid. But do not restart or start from begining. Watching this during quarantine... Can’t wait to g back to cruising and MSC is my favorite line.
As an Engineer, most ot these comments obviously do not appreciated the engineering marvels and complexity. Fantastics that what it takes to come up with solutions to everythings. OK perhaps ship may not work for Covid-19 though engineers learns lot of this "experiment".

Well building a huge ship in 1912 with no advanced technology softwares and huge machinery ever wondered how they've constructed that beast mostly using manpower ?
