The creative minds behind the hit Insidious trilogy return for Insidious: The Last Key. In the supernatural thriller, which welcomes back franchise standout Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, the brilliant parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home.
The film is written by co-creator Leigh Whannell (Saw), who wrote the trilogy and directed Chapter 3; produced by Insidious regulars Jason Blum (The Purge series, Get Out), Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and co-creator James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7); and directed by series newcomer Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan).
Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Charles Layton, Bailey Conway Anglewicz, Couper Samuelson and Whannell serve as executive producers. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions is financing Insidious: Chapter 4, and domestic distribution will be handled by Universal Pictures. Sony will handle international distribution.

AlecIsNostalgic Same but I was thinking that the movie were not actually in sequence. If u watch it with this sequence, chap 3 then 1 then 2. As you can see at the chapter 3, Elise and the two guy don't know each other, which makes me think that chapt. must be the first one, next is the chapter 1 because as u can see, they already know each other at chapter 1. Chapter 2 makes the 3rd one, because as I've watch the movie, Elise is already dead there. And I think the next sequel will something like on chapter 5, which Elise will also be helping but not as a living person but as a dead person.

This was such an incredible movie and storyline. I feel so proud of the makers of all 4 movies with what they did with the storyline. Was such a pleasant and refreshing surprise. I was actually very impressed having scene all of the others, with how they wrapped all the characters up and storyline with this one. WELL DONE!

I'm more concerned about the story and whats good is that Leigh Whannell is staying as the writer and he and James were the ones who wrote the others and Leigh wrote Chapter 3 all by himself while James was doing Furious 7 and Leigh also wrote this one so as long as the story is good then the director can stick to it and have a good story to follow instead of just putting whatever into the film like it was with the paranormal activity series.
Yeah, Leigh sticking on as writer here is a great sign. The director here is Adam Robitel, who's only had one other movie as a director: The Taking of Deborah Logan, which has an 83% critic score on RT, but only a 48% audience rating. He also co-wrote Paranormal Activity 6. I mean... Take from that what you will.

I see a lot of mixed reviews on this Insdious movie and I respect everyone's opions on it , but I must say this may be my favorite one. It does a lot of explaining of Elise's young life and how all of it come about. I also like how they tied in her two niece's so they can continue the Insidious franchise . Very well done in my opinion :)

Best “horror” movie I’ve ever seen till now! Not so scary but the plot - especially the end - was so good that I wanted to applaud. I would say that it’s a “scary” movie with some emotional scenes based on facts of real life such as family abuse.

The reason the first two movies were so good is because they were really just kind of one story. The way (in the first one) that they foreshadowed the Bride in Black throughout the movie, and then brought it home by the end, perfectly leading into the second one. They can't really do that with Chapter 3, because it pretty much had it's beginning and end. I'm hoping that this movie bookends perfectly into the first movie, and then Chapter 5 can be centered around whatever the fuck Elise was horrified at in the end of Chapter 2.

Insidious is the best franchise horror films I’ve enjoyed in a long time it’s too bad that the 3rd one comes to a end I would of loved to see them make more insidious films though
I started scaring my friend using Pennywise and Kayako (The Grudge) voice and nuances. Until one of our friends said that instead of scaring her, why not scare her using the real movie by watching IT (2017) and after watching IT, another friend asked us to watch Insidious (2010) and it brought me into a trauma. My favorite horror villain characters are Pennywise and Kayako because I was never scared of them and I can impersonate them but the demon in Insidious and Valak are my horror villain traumas. Everytime I go to the shower, every single time I close my eyes, I see their faces. The demon's face haunts me esp the scene in in the first Insidious where he was on the ceiling and the song that was playing is creeping me out. And I vowed not to watch the following Insidious. A few months after, after watching The Conjuring 2, and being traumatized by Valak's face, I decided to face my fears and watch the next Insidious movies WITH A FRIEND. (I would never watch Insidious, Annabelle or The Conjuring alone) and then earlier, we just finished watching Insidious 3 and tomorrow we're going to watch The Last Key. The demon made an appearance in the final scene of Insidious Chapter 3 and I know he's going to be back in The Last Key. So there...

I’m pretty sure the movie jumps from the the timeline of this movie to when Elise was a kid. This movie takes place after chapter 3, before chapter 1 (sequel to the prequel, but prequel to the original)
I liked the story line. Insidious had me jumping and scared.I’ve watched it with perfect dubbing on boxxy software. I liked everything about the movies and would recommend it to anyone.

I’ve been a fan of the insidious series since the first one and they’ve only gotten better over time in my opinion so I think this’ll be good
Key features in horror films...
1. Small age kids even new born babies sleep in different rooms. Not with the parents.
2. Parents and even kids follow strange noises even at 2 am.
3. If one said dont go im shivering, he/she still goes.
4. They dont need light to see in dark places.
5. Ghost always seen by ladies and kids first and gents after the interval.
The scene when the hand with 5 keys comes out of the sleeve and the scene where all those prisoner souls come out weren't there in the" insidious last key " i watched🤔😞
I really hope this movie isn't a jumpscare fest. That's what made the first two so scary. My expectations are very high thanks to James Wan!

In the middle of the night, I heard one step near the window, then second in the middle of the room and last step on the carpet right behind my back. I was soo terrified but I tried to calm myself down and pretended to be dead. Yes, it worked... for a few seconds. THEN SOMETHING PAT MY HEAD AND LET ITS HAND ON ME! I felt its hand on my head for about 20 minutes. Then I took my courage and turned my head to find out, that the hand was just fallen photo 😅

Leigh Whannell wrote this so we will definitely have an amazing send off that will perfectly segue into chapter 1. Guaranteed to be a fantastic film. Now when it comes to actual scares though, who knows, as this will mark the first time in the series where neither Wan nor Leigh are directing.

The movie was so good. The only disappointing part was the deleted scenes. U see them on the trailers and expect them to show during the movie but... it never happens!
Pt. 2 is my favorite, I liked the whole cross dressing serial killer demon aspect of it. Pt.4 also had hints of a serial killer/kidnapper too, with the girls being chained in the basement. We don't find out 'til later on in the movie that she's still alive. I hope part 5 touches into the whole serial killer/kidnapper aspect too. However, pt.4 didn't feel scary, and didn't show enough of the demon like the other movies. The violence was low-key in pt. 4 too, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think they need to up the scariness/violence/jumpscares/demon on-screen presence in the future movies to retain the high grossing amount that pt.4 bought in.
I experience sleep paralysis on occasion one time I saw a very tall man in a neat suit, his shirt was completely white, clean, and illuminated slightly. He had no face where his face features should appear, and his head was bold. In the paralysis state I was sitting half up on the couch in my cousins living room (I was sleeping over at my cousins army reserve house at the time with my mum on a couch on the other side of the room, in Turkey just visiting.) my arms would not move neither could my head because I tried to look around as he crept into the room. For the first few moments/second I mean I couldn't measure the time really, I felt no fear, there was no emotion besides curiosity. But once it entered into the room fully and loomed closer it looked right at me through where his eye sockets should be but there was not even a dark hollowed out hole, just a clean skin surface. As it bored into my eyes I felt forced fear climbing up within me to my throat then out of my came the silenced screams stifled by his power. I screamed with all my power in Turkish for my mother to wake up, but she couldn't hear me I wasn't in her world. I was still sleeping and in my consciousness this thing attacked stealing my energy force and my ability to fear again. I am pretty sure it took most of my fear, fed on it.
Once the faceless b*sta*d got what he wanted I awoke from the attack frantically looking around my cousins lounge room. He was not there, and my mum was sleeping soundly.
On another sleep paralysis occasion experienced recently I saw a troll staring right at me through a red and black lined mask it smiled widely baring it's shark like teeth through the mask. I saw him because I was tossing and turning trying to fall a sleep almost achieving then waking up again in a tired state, I had turned once more and there it was standing face to face with me just staring. I saw it for half a second, because I closed my eyes very fast and turned back around super fast. I pretended I did not notice or see it, I was afraid for another minute I tried to not look in the same direction for a while. I turned around to try my luck and I was lucky because it was gone.

Movie was pretty intense . Opening scene got me pretty good but I was definitely into it .
So many good things about this movie. But when she finally realized her father wasn’t a monster but was in fact being controlled by the demon is what got me! That part and when she blew the whistle for her mom! 10/10
