great episode, Alyssa has learned so much. Love the " focus" popping up all through this....everyone should know what that is short for by now in life lol
Wow, this was one of your best episodes, very impressive. And Allysa is really coming along, I was very impressed with her knowledge of the car number / Vin details, well done.
This was the best episode I think. The detailed forensic walk through the care was great. The interaction of a master teaching his protege was the best. This is not a simple car show, I enjoy the details
Allysa isn't as knowledgeable as her dad, but she really has learned alot. I would bet working with her dad & getting that hands on experience, she could no doubt carry on the torch😊
I lean more towards the bow tie, just my preference😆 I did however grow up in an era where all these Mopars were common, & i even worked on them when i was young, so they do have a soft spot in my heart. I'm just more of a bow tie guy!😆
Love this! Had the opportunity over the years to do frame off resto on several cars. Dad was a wiz! Learned a lot and my twin boys came up the same way. Last one was 67 Chevelle SS396 3spd on the floor w/ bench seat! It was rare for sure. Marina blue white int. Miss the days of 5k or less “woods” or barn finds !
A Chevelle is one of my dream cars. I recently looked at a 71 Malibu completely restored to factory condition at a Chevrolet dealership. A beautiful car, had a price tag almost as high as a brand new car.
i had unsubbed for last 6-8 months..too many repeats with new names..but this is finally an episode I've never seen..and what a learning experience..well done GYC
I love all the aftermarket chevy fenders people bring me from swap meets sold as scratch and dent. They are liquidating all the rejects I we back that wouldn't line up and they pay $10 MORE than I do for good ones.....
Sadly, my husband and I had a 74 Plymouth Barracuda Ebody. It was a nice cool day so we took Cuda out for a drive and some jerk pulled out in front of us we had to slam on the brakes but we fishtailed and rolled the car and totaled it. Been trying to find him another one. Hopefully I can.
There was a yard outside Colorado springs my friend's dad owned it he had hemi just sitting on the ground and he has a lot on that piece of property it was out past Peterson AFB just like if you were going to pumpkin center but not as far .
Is there a coating on the brake backing plate or U bolt/shock mount plate?? Just curious why you wouldn't paint that when you take so many other measures to keep things clean and resistant to corrosion...
I've spotted cars that were much less valuable with the same type of "body swap". These were clearly done when the car was relatively new by a body shop. firewall forward is from the vin car. Rear half, including door and roof from a donor. I agree that it is a re-body, but I don't agree that it is not worth being fixed. Afterall... the only difference we have and we can see it, is re-used original metal vs aftermarket. As long as it is disclosed as part of the cars history and that all repairs are proper.
Your color key grille question is actually true. It is how you worded the question. Being 9 6 is less than 9 so the answer is true. If you would have asked total number of colors available the answer to 6 would be false.
Nope 112159 is not a “serial number”. It is the sequential Vin last six digits of the Vin. There are always several locations of the sequential VIn hidden in hard to find and undisclosed locations in order to reduce auto chop shop theft and all other types of auto theft. ( NATB : National Auto Theft Buteau )
Those cars rattled like a coffee can full of sheet metal screws when they were new especially the doors but a well tuned 440 six pack could outrun a Hemi, I’m old enough to remember…😊
3:30 EXCUSE ME, but are you spraying gloss black paint over BARE METAL? Major mistake if you are. I hope that's just a very dark primer. And feel free to lambaste me if I missed something.
I wonder what it would cost to have one of these tribute cars built by these guys? To know it was done right, just like a factory original, would be so nice!! And to have it with fuel injection, power steering, and I'd want 4 wheel disc brakes also.... But, of course I'd wait until the end to tell Mark! ;-)
No difference between what they did with that one build and whomever put that other car together to make that particular car when it’s all done no one will be the wiser only because there are only so many of those VIN #’s so that car is what it is!
Nothing strange at all - you could get any vin tag you wanted at any car flea market in the 70s. Hand operated presses turned out anything you wanted. All makes and models.
So if GYC cuts every panel off a car but the fender apron and core supp't and uses AMD panels it's called OEM restoration but a car with OEM panels from the factory just not a real car. They did not mention the numbers under the trunk rubber???
No, no, no, no.... Max,,, C'mon Maaaaan,,, only Mark, or Tony can use all AMD stuff and still get to call it an OE Restoration. Anyone who uses all factory sheetmetal,, and assembled it as a rust free shell, created a fake. [Wink wink]. Just look up Ken Mosier in Danville Indiana and read up on all the grift, and slight of hand that goes on in this hobby. Tony, and Ken and Ted [from Alabamy] were all thick as thieves in the 90's. Ken GOT CAUGHT. Court cases were filed AND WON, on details EXACTLY like this 440-6 clone rebody covered in this episode. Key thing is how things are advertised once the selling begins. To present something like that burned down Hemicuda, later on, as 'all original' well,, can you say 'fraudulent activity'? BUT,,, so long as the whole truth is told about it to any potential bidder,,, the devil is in the details,,, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN. Any of us who have center drilled spot welds to replace a rusted dutchman panel, can identify factory pinch welds from tigged or migged spot welds that were drilled out. I have dealt face to face with Tony, and Ken and Ted since the '80's and I can tell you,,, you BETTER be watchful when you have something original and you got around Ken. Ted, I never saw a false move out of. Tony,, well, if He's got it, it's priced like he sacrificed his firstborn to get it, and if he's trying to buy it from YOU,,, it's junk that he's doing you a favor just to haul it away from you. Mark,,, well, I have never seen him responsible for the Frauds like Ken committed on the hobby. It's in court records. Just read up.
Just curious...Would she be taking part if she wasn't getting paid ? It can be hard when the kids want no part of the fathers life time knowledge, skill and connections in any chosen occupation.
Best episode in a while. No silly dancing or funny faces. Just dropping serious knowledge with that bare chassis. Very interesting breakdown.
Some of us like Mark being silly and there are 50 other serious shows out there you can watch to get all your serious. Lighten up Francis!
This episode was very informative and enjoyable. No dancing, no child's play just straight up cars!!!!

Absolutely Incredible, I am stunned at the knowledge you all have on the 'cudas and their history! More please. From Suffolk County in the UK.

The parts layout looks like a big model kit. I wouldn't have been surprised to see all the parts with sprue connecting them. Models kits for big boys!

If you look up the black ghost it came with the shaker he had to make them give it too him but it was on build sheet on a challenger
Terrific this is a great episode!
I guess what this all means, is that your operation is now a full-blown factory. A miniaturized version of Hamtramck Dodge Main!
@3:27 Will painted the bare metal on the floor without priming it first?????
its great to see and view a new video of these awesome cars
When you complete tributes do you mark the cars anywhere that say tribute on them
Do you stamp them tribute cars
Impressive work , details described are better than the factory floor push line .
Can't imagine how Flimsy that 71 cuda will be adter using all those AMD Panels and frame .....The Tensile strength is not the same as OEM metal

Nick's Garage built a replica to the Kawalsky. It’s a beauty, just like the masterpieces coming out from here.

Can’t buy enough parts to do a proper job like the mopars….
This is a new build,not oem.basicly a copy.transfering numbers is a question policy.
Yeah there should be a percentage that qualifies it as an original VIN.
