Man, this is what quality deer hunting is all about. No complaining, just grinding and accepting the challenge. Everything from prepping the food plots, constantly changing up strategies, putting in the hours (which I imagine there were many frustrating days), staying positive and continuing to keep going back out...and it all panned out with a buck of a lifetime. When the public land crew left a few years ago, I barely watched the show except for Jared and Mike. Over the past 2 years I really started watching again, especially when Jared hunts because he does such a great job of explaining what he is doing and teaching along the way. It's fun to watch all of the different strategies. While Jared is a great land manager I really appreciate the creativeness he puts into every hunt. Keep up the awesome work!

I admire your persistence and dedication all year long. You and this show are top notch and I think is the best show in the industry. The camera work is second to none. One word and you said it "EPIC". I am hunting Iowa next season for the first and probably only time in my lifetime this fall.
It's incredible how different the hunting in these low pressure states can be. Multiple opportunities and multiple encounters getting busted. If you don't connect you get to pursue the same deer the following year. Where I hunt if I get winded by a buck half that age/size he'll run to the neighboring property and be harvested by another hunter. Cool to see hunts like this..

Doesn’t even wear a scent lok mask. Has baseball cap on. No gloves. Hunts from the ground. Monster bucks walking around in the open mid day. Deer so dumb he didn’t even run into cover when shot. You couldn’t fool a yearling doe with tactics like this most places.
@ClimbnFish The buck was heading back where it came from where there is heavy cover. He isn't thinking, he's just reacting and following his instincts. That corn that late in the season, with snow, provided very little "cover"! Don't need scent loc if the wind is in your favor. Also, with snow on the ground, a white face and hands isn't so critical. Although they got busted numerous times due to wind, this time things worked in there favor. Like he said, if the deer would have gone on the backside of that clump, no shot. Luckily, those does had come through and he was following them.

Guy definitely deserves it, countless hours unmatched patiences, the effort of not just hunting but learning each individual buck and game planning. It’s like a chess game and as years pass your efforts and determination have paid off and with each year passes your skills advance you not just as a hunter but wildlife manager and representative of our hobby passion and way of life. Magnificent whitetail! Like you said “bittersweet”. When the chase ends, the excitement that buck brought you is over. The anticipation is what gets us up to hit the cold woods before daylight, hopefully you find another bruiser that will present you with an equal or greater challenge than the “Big 10”.
