- I Bought A New Farm (And Sold The River Farm) | Midwest Whitetail
On this week’s episode, we join Jared Mills on a first look of his recently purchased farm in Southern Iowa. He discusses how the farm initially became of interest to him and the preparation work he has completed up to this point, and then takes us around the property to the different food plots and stand locations he has implemented and hangs a new stand to cap off the tour. We are excited to see the story of this new farm unfold!

Awesome man! I own 19ac in MO. Hearing people say 100ac isn't "big" kills me. 😂 Like, I'd love to own 50.
I'm on 90 acres of Agricultural land.. not a lot of woods but they come in like clock work after whatever is I field
For sure Corey. 100 is definitely a good size, I didn't mean to say it wasn't. But there's definitely a difference in what you're able to do from a management standpoint in a property that size compared to the guys that own much bigger parcels. That's all I was getting at. I know guys that kill big deer somewhat regularly on very small parcels, like 10 acres, but as you know with yours there are additional challenges there. Thanks for watching! -Jared
@@MidwestWhitetailVideos I know what you mean. I was just messing around, mostly. 😅 I've got pretty good at the small parcel hunting, taken some good deer off of my place (163") and got my 6yo son on his first deer (155") on a 17ac permission spot. One of these days I'll hopefully own a much larger spot. 🤞
19 acres is a ton for me. I'd love to own anything. Land is just so expensive in OH.
@@topjak Southern OH here.. yes land is expensive especially if it's Ag
Jared said “Not gonna risk someone shooting my target buck again” lol
GOOD LUCK!
I share your excitement. That farm has so much potential. You are well on your way to making it a deer mecca. Please continue to share the development of it, and, of course, some trail cam pics and videos later in the season.
Congrats Jared! Can’t wait to see how the season unfolds for you! Could you do a video about the types of sign you’ve found and how that may have influenced your set ups and planting?
Thanks Andrew, I appreciate it. That's a good idea. I will try to do something like that in the near future. -Jared
Awesome . I can almost feel your excitement ! You and Mike are so good at what you do . I am able to hunt on about 15 acres that is surrounded by probably 400 acres of hardwoods . This 15 acres is owned by a friend and I pretty much have free reign . Can’t wait to see the deer on your property .
How exciting Jared, congrats to you and your family on a new piece of dirt. We purchased land in Missouri this year 41 acres, I'm from Michigan. Like you, really looking forward to see how the story unfolds. Absolutely great video, huge congrats. Ryan.
Thanks Ryan, congrats to you guys too. Best of luck with your new property. -Jared
Congratulations Jared been watching you from the beginning. I'm the same as you owning my own land is still a pipe dream but I just started my own landscaping and food plot business and I always thought that was a pipe dream but I'm making that happen. Hopefully God willing I'll be able to purchase my own land here in central Illinois eventually. Just gotta keep working towards my goal and the future of hunting tradition for my family. Congrats again can't wait for this coming season and more to come.
Heck yea! Happy for you, Jared! You have stayed loyal to MWW and to your ways all of these years and you deserve it. Looking forward to seeing the hunts this fall. Looks like a killer place!
Way to break away and work your magic on your own piece of land Jared!!! And you have a true talent in educating on how to create a buck paradise, thanks. Your target deer won’t slip away this time !
Hope the new farm is coming all together. Can't wait to see the updates and the hunts. Good luck.
Congrats on the new piece Jared. I'm excited to see all the content this fall. I think you and Mike on different farms chasing different deer will make the show more fun to watch. Best of luck to both of you this year!
Thanks Rick, good luck to you too! -Jared
Jared, I’m so glad you bought your own place! Congratulations!
Thanks Eric!
Congrats man. Glad your on your own place now. I don’t expect a reply to my next statement nor do I want one. I can’t help but not be surprised by the move to your own place and selling Mike your half after what happened last year. I know what you have said before but a majority of people don’t agree with what he did. I hope you have a great season on this place. Can’t wait to watch the episodes.
Congrats Jared on the purchase of your new farm! This certainly will be a great property as the deer have plenty of food and looks like great stands. Looking forward to the updates throughout the season ! Congrats Man
Awesome video as usual. Thanks for breaking down everything, Jared. I'm so glad to see your hard work is paying off and can't wait to follow along this fall!
Cool farm Jared. Looks like a winner. It also helps to know what your doing. I look forward to your hunts this year.
Well done sir. That property is something to be proud of..you earned it!
Congratulations! Ready to watch the story unfold. Best wishes this season!
Very cool, happy for you brother. Can’t wait to see how you cultivate the property
Really stoked for you. Looks like a fun project and great place to hunt!
Next world record typical bow buck in the making. Jared's patience will pay off big time with his own place.
Can't wait for more on this property! Exciting
Congrats on your new property and best of luck with it👍
Congrats on the farm! Looking forward to see more about it.
Congratulations on the new farm, can’t wait to see how this plays out.
Happy for you jared! Congrats.
Congratulations on the new farm. Looks like a lot of potential there!
Happy for you Jared. Much deserved.
Could you do a video on trail cam pictures and how to find good deer land?
Great show , keep the farm updates coming !!
Best feeling ever, you'll make it awesome.
Will Owen be on the team this year?
Congratulations!!! So any good bucks on camera yet? Let's see!!!
Congratulations Jared. Nobody deserves this more than you. You mentioned that it's "only" about 100 acres. If you recall, the guy who started Midwest Whitetail, I forget his name, started with 125 acres and eventually turned it into 1000. Maybe you can do the same thing. Good luck this Fall.
Bill Winke
@@claywilt5831 That sounds familiar. You might be right.
Congrats Jared!! Proud of ya man
Congrats Jared. I am also curious on what plot screen that is and how you manicured it. Frigid forage? Looking forward to seeing some big deer showing up.
Congrats and enjoy the new challenges.
Great looking property. Keep the videos coming
Congrats Jared! Can’t wait to follow along. Does MWW have a Drake Non-typical discount code this season?
Same. Life long dream, never thought I’d ever be able to buy hunting land. Bought 65 acres last year, I’m 40. Coincidently, I also bought a new house (also in an area/neighborhood I never thought I’d be able to do) and to my surprise I have deer in my backyard almost every night. Corn helps…but still LOL. Biggest deer I’ve ever seen in real life, is in my backyard nightly. Huge, huge 8pt.
I’ve said it before but man I love the intro music!
What kind of hang on stands do you guys recommend?
Is mike still going to be producing content on the river farm? Congrats on owning land that’s my dream
this is going to be good for, nice
Beautiful farm , you have done a lot of work so far, My friend and i have 360 acres in northeast mo and it has been a joy to own and work for over 20 yrs, What size is your massey tractor?
Looks like a sweet property!
Congrats Jared, wondering if you purchased at 20% down or another value?
Awesome man! Real question, how are the neighbors?
Good luck man
Sick ass land
Bad ass man, congratulations!!!….Hope to see you and Mike stick together on the show, you guys put out some great content!
Thanks Big Ern!
What method did you use to plant the miscanthus?
When will the new season of chasing November be out?
New property looks awesome! Was hoping you'd show some of your trail cam pics.
Where is your new farm?
Let me come squirrel hunt it after deer season i bet you got a million of em eat in every thing
I’ve killed all my decent size bucks on 100ac or less
This isn't because of Marino is it?😉
You guys dropping the new season on chasing november soon, and is Bill going to be back on it?
Bill Winke got his own channel now.
@@mb748 what is it?
It’s literally called Bill Winke
@@lilbruin5667 yea I found it. Thanks
Yeah check bills page it's more in line with how this series and videos used to be
I bet your still mad at Mike for killing Prodigy
Not only that, Mike also shot Merino with the muzzleloader when he was trying to take him with the bow.
Awsome property thanks for the tour good luck this year bow hunting only property 😉🦌🦾
Love it when
Living everyone's dream! Can't wait to own a property to shape the way I want. Congratulations. I know yours will produce some great bucks.
Thanks Kohen. You'll get there. If I can, almost anyone can, just have to want it. Best of luck and thanks for watching. -Jared
Congratulations on your new property. My wife and I own 7.34 acres in Wisconsin and we are doing all we can to attract some of the trophy deer that frequent the nearby swamps. Best of luck to you and safe travels as you work on your improvements.
Congrats on the new farm Jared! Hopefully your previous interns don’t catch wind of it and target your deer..
I've heard talk of that. Who was it?
They have a channel called DeerCo.
Thanks Dirty, I appreciate it! -Jared
Glad you got your own farm and won’t have to worry about “people” shooting deer you’re chasing. Like the story of Marino.
Your a hater bud …. Mike is a great guy and a clad act….
That’s cold bro they homies
@@KyleC0430 That’s why bro you don’t do that to your “homie”
@@gabrieltorres3215 just ain’t no respect these days
@@gabrieltorres3215 “cut throat “
I swear I’m not the only one who has always loved the intro music. Don’t ever change it!!
I'm in Lee county ia..what county u in Jared?
This place was hunted before. Only pushed by a small group 2-3 times during shotgun season.
New intro music please! Great purchase!
You should look at adding chestnuts as an additional food source, for you and the deer!
Where is season 7? What.. is.. going.. on??
Is this a result of mike shooting Marino?
Very exciting, I've got 100 acres in Texas and hopefully you don't have a neighbor like I do who likes to kill 2 and 3 year old deer, he and his sons, their cousins and friends. If that's the case, you'll be buying back in to the River Farm real fast LOL. Presently, I am in escrow on 17 acres in the SE corner of Oklahoma. On the North border is a Warehouser tree farm 300+ acres where no hunting is allowed and on the East border is a 300+ acre tree farm that I'm not sure whether it is hunted or not. I'm hoping my prospects for mature bucks will improve in the years to come cause at my 100 acre place in Texas, last season, I've decided I'm not gonna shoot the 3 year olds anymore, just the does, which means I may never kill a buck there again. Thanks for sharing the new farm with us! Looks like loads of fun to set up and hunt. Look forward to the season beginning and watching the hunting here.
Any luck Jared?
Always great to have your own place....as much as 2 partners think alike theres always gonna be different opinions...now you have full control....you can try new radical ideas...best of luck!
this was bills?
Congrats Jared! Can't wait to watch the future projects and hunts.
Thanks Justin, I appreciate it! -Jared
Congrats, Jared! I would be interested to know how you got your screens looking so good, looks like Egyptian wheat to me, when did you plant? What was the rate of seeding? Did you use fertilizer? I think most people saw this coming with how things have transpired over the last couple years on the river farm. Looking forward to the content this fall! and remember to always DREAM BIG :)
hell yea man. Congrats. I dont blame you one bit 😉
Congrats Jared, you are a man with a plan. Thats for sure. You have it all going on already and it looks great. Cant wait to see you on this new solo journey. I think the only thing your missing is a well placed apple orchard. lol ... Congrats to Mike on now becoming the solo River Monster. Best of luck to you both!!!
Looking forward to following along on this farm. Looks tremendous and very promising. I love land, land ownership and the work that comes with it as well. Id love to get a bigger piece one day that has the farmer income but still something for me to work with and plant my own plots.
I know you have sponsors, but get you a battery operated pole saw.. LOL It will save you so much time and energy...
Not sure if that Aftershock they pimp a few episodes ago is a sponsor or not but that guy is a scam! I paid $600 for him to send to my local mill to have it mixed - that was July 21st - he never shipped it and doesn’t reply to my emails or texts.
That’s awesome Jared, Congratulations on a great piece of property. I’m in the same boat. Looking for my first ranch to purchase down in Texas.
It’s better to own your own property vs having to share a property w/ another hunter….don’t have to worry about splitting costs & most important of all, worry about your buddy shooting ur buck
Congrats bud! I can't imagine the excitement that your experiencing! Enjoy and look forward to seeing what you have for vids.
Kudos , congratulations on a dream come true and great friends, especially Mike for buying your half of river farm , one day perhaps you’ll have kids to take hunting and treasure the memories
Partnerships on land purchases are tough. It's good you and Mike stayed friends thru that process. Good luck on the new farm.
mike gun killed all jared's deer......very sad
@@jimpowers2047 it wasn’t Jared’s deer it was a free range deer
It was a free range deer, not to mention it doesn’t matter because were all hunters. No animal is anyones to own that we hunt. It’s that very commet that proves your seflish. Mike gun hunts so what, Jared only bow hunts so the odds go to the gun but the bow has the hire reward. Also Mike can’t pull his bow back in winter from some shoulder problems and the cold. It doesn’t matter who kills what. Were all hunters and need to support all other hunters.
@@Farmersforever1993 jared made the right move, mike is a game hog, sorry to say
Looks like a forever farm to me. As long as you have good neighbors
That's frigging Awesome Jared... Congratulations and can't wait to see how your season turns out there..
Can’t wait for this adventure Jared. Giver.
Congratulations, Jared! That’s a huge accomplishment!
This will be fun to follow. Could you show a more aerial view of the property to help convey how your plots and access will work?
Jared, I’m as excited to watch it as you are to make it yours. You reinvigorated me. Thank you!
Finally the first chapter in the new book let's hope the lessons you learned the hard way last year don't happen again can't wait to see what comes off this dirt
Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing how this property plays out for ya!!!
Very much looking forward to watching the evolution of your new piece! Congrats
Congratulations man, that’s awesome, I’m sure you’ll turn it into a great hunting piece!!
So awesome Jared! Looking forward to seeing everything unfold on the new farm!
Super pumped for you Jared! Can't wait to see how the property changes and progresses over the years!
Congrats on the farm Jared. Can't wait to see your hunts this fall. Good Luck
