In an alternate universe, the Shockmaster probably broke the Undertaker's WrestleMania undefeated streak
SpudCommJuan you mean the gobbledy gookers undeafeated streak
TiberiusKayn flat on his ars flat on his f'n ars oh Davey boy Smith we will miss you
Shockmaster, Gobbledygooker and Fantasio in a triple threat match for the world title at WM2000 (16).
In a alternate dimention, the Gobbledy Gooker broke the streak.
In that same alternate universe though, the Shockmaster gimmick would have been worth enough $ for Disney/Lucasfilm to sue him into oblivion for violating their IP.
Shockmaster's entrance was the funniest moment in wrestling history, it never gets old. So many subtle things were hilarious, falling down, the helmet coming off, Booker T and Davey Boy making fun of them, Ole Anderson laughing and Fred pointing at the wrong time. Sid did a great job staying in character and trying to sell Shockmaster as if nothing happened. I keep imagining the Benny Hill music playing as he falls through the wall.
+stan smith And according to the Death of WCW book Ric Flair and Davey Boy ran backstage to avoid breaking character and bursting out laughing.
The best part is hearing Sid off camera say "i told you"
For me the funniest (and most disturbing) moments in wrestling don't have anything to do with that moment lol. AWA ran an episode and forgot to put on the audience track. All the talk between the wrestlers in the ring was clear and precise. Illustrious Johnny Stewart was wrestling someone who I can't remember at the moment. He told his opponent "now, break the hold and make it look good". The whole show was like that. Other moment that stand out were the debut of the Cougar Wrestling table called PMS, the Birth of a hand from Mae Young and the Katie Vick thing. Oh, we won't even go into Crazy Victoria wrestling in a shower cap, bathrobe and bunny slippers lol. Wrestling has had it's share of bizarre moments throughout the years lol.
Flair saying “oh God!” off camera.
Flair being replaced by a cardboard cut out, colonel rob’s ooooooh lord
Here would be the Undertaker coming out of the egg
"Welcome... to sHell..."
+Davis Pittard This one made me laugh more than it should have!
Gimme a shell yeah!
+Davis Pittard "Nest in peace"...
Sounds like something Undertaker would say in a crossover with the Ninja Turtles.
Imagine what Kane then would have been? a red rooster from hell?
9:03 "He fell on his arse he fell on his f*cking arse"-Davey Boy Smith still hilarious 😂😂😂😂
ECW Zombie for Hall of Fame.
Sitrush GRRRRRRRRRRRRUAGH!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, Hell, why not? If they inducted Pete Rose, everyone's fair game.
Hell I thought he was already in. Didn't he get inducted with Drew Carey and Jeremy Piven. Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💩
Did the zombie thing ever get explained? In my head I am thinking it would be Vince mocking ECW, then Sandman gets pissed off and stops the bs. But did it even have a set up at all? Or any context? Then I have no idea what they thought...
Along with THE YETAAAYYYY!
"Rest in peace...now who wants to see a magic trick?" 😂😂😂😂
LOL
Poor Zombie ended up killing himself. He was a nice guy but he had a young kid so it's very sad.
Who was the guy?
@@velvetpilot2008 Tim Arson.
@@wolfhurricane897 his name was Tim Arson and he was booked as a zombie? Lmao could’ve ran circles with that name
@@johnremp3470 I would've booked Tim Arson with a pyromaniac gimmick.
@@wolfhurricane897 ANYTHING. Anything other than what that man got. No one deserved that lmao
You had me until you said the first Mortal Kombat movie was awful. THIS IS INCORRECT.
Maybe he's confusing it with the god awful sequel
@@robertsmith4157 Hey! Now you listen here... Wait, nvm, never argue about movies on the Internet. I respect your opinion 😐.
@@robertsmith4157 Said no one ever
well it´s a mixed opinion thing some love it some hate it i pretty much liked it especially Christopher lambert as Raiden
@@otaking3582 It's a PG-13 movie of a R rated franchise known for its gore and insane fatalities. It failed at a very basic level. It's a mediocre at best movie that completely misses the point of the franchise. People only give it any praise because of nostalgia, and this is one of the cases where the nostalgia argument holds any water.
The Shockmaster influenced one of my favourite RPG characters.
Shocklord, a Wrestler in the post apocalypse. Whose actual only attack is botching his entrance.
+The Drunken Coward I now have a minor villain for my Pathfinder campaign...thank you.
Ezekiel Elliot #BuckeyesNation #LostMyShoe
It would, but the character is actually insanely strong and when you get him he does about 1500 damage per hit, which is a lot.
And he hits every single enemy.
The only downside is that he only has an accuracy of 70%.
LMFAO
Roll to fall flat on ass
Alignment: Chaotic neutral.
0:44 Fuck you sold that well
IKR!!
+⁇ Xenith ⁇ My thoughts exactly.
+⁇ Xenith ⁇ He looked like he fucking died.
he fell flat on his f***n arse!!
yep he must of died also wwe isnt fake
Fred Ottman said in an interview that his debut as the Shockmaster did have two flaws. First, the mask didn't allow much vision. However he said that could have been no problem except for the second thing. They gimmicked the wall to break easier, but not only didn't gimmick the 2×4 support, they didn't even tell him it was there. He said they told him to make one good push and he'd be through. He pushed, and promptly tripped on the support.
Damn, they did him dirty.. poor guy..
Everyone saw exactly what happened. Thanks for confirming that our eyes aren’t lying to us all
Poor guy! The pain...the humiliation...
In one of his interviews with Austin, Taker said that he actually was terrified that he was going to be the one that they planned to come out of the egg, so he was desperately thinking of ideas about what the hell he was supposed to do with that.
To be fair, I've read that WCW had to drop the Seven gimmick because they faced a lot of backlash and allegations over pedophilia because of the vignettes with the kid. I think spending all that money and effort on the swerve might've just been a Russo thing. Promo that Dustin cuts is still one of my favourites tho ugh
The Liam Machine I heard WCW had to drop the gimmick because it was too close to the Golddust gimmick and WWF threatened a lawsuit over copyright infringement.
It was taken directly from a movie - Dark City. The owners of that film are the ones who threatened to sue.
Frank Franklin He was right back to being Golddust though and got more bizarre. I preferred the Natural Dustin Rhodes.
I remember this and as a teen who liked the "dark and edgy" gimmicks, was actually excited for this character. Low and behold...
golongusa I heard it was it was more of a dig at WWE and them having Dustin be Goldust....it was there way of telling the fans that WWE fucked up by making a great wrestler like Dustin play a character like Goldust
I remember watching those Glacier vignettes and thinking this guy was gonna be AWESOME.
Instead, we got Sub Zero's much lamer cousin.
'When your opponent is a creepy pantsless maverick, you're off to a bad start.' Indeed.
‘Come and get me Stid!’ - The Shockmaster
Best thing about that promo is when The Shockmaster starts gesticulating as if Sid's voice is his, instead of Arn's.
@@ICantSplel haha he does I'm "shocked" he didn't put the helmet on backwards to lol
I never would have thought thought that someone wearing a face-concealing helment could have bad lip synic before now.
T-Shirt That Please
The worst thing about the Shockmaster debut was that it wasn't even Fred Ottman's fault. No one had told him that there was a 2x4 one foot off of the ground below the breakable wall. That's what he tripped over when he went through the wall. The bad timing during the promo and the bad voice over by Ole Anderson would not have damaged the character that much.
I mean he had a storm trooper helmet that was painted in glitter. Even without all that hilariousness he probably wouldn't of got over...... Unless he popped out of a box. Cornette said anyone that bust out of a box is instantly over.
@@josephmckee3342 In hindsight, I agree on that point. He probably wouldn't have got over with the crowd, but at least the fall wasn't his fault. Ottman himself looks back on it and laughs. He could have been a Dungeon of Doom member with that gimmick. It would have been better than becoming a construction worker.
I remember I didn't see the Survivor Series, but I was dying to know what was in the egg. Then my cousin told me it was some stupid turkey, and I thought he was bullshitting me.
That ECW Zombie clip gets me everytime, that compared with the one-two punch of your pronunciation of The Gobbledy Gooker almost made me lose my lunch from laughing so hard. Man I love this channel.
Super Giant Ninja looks like scorpion from Mortal Kombat
+John SuperDude He looks like he ATE Scorpion.
And glacier looked like sub zero
Ricardo Reyes glacier was based off of sub-zero
"It's THE YETAH!!!!!"-Tony Schiavone 😂😂😂😂😂
11:02 that's gotta be kane!
***** nah
that's gotta be Festus
Yeah That's Totally Glenn Jacobs
+AwesomeGamer No Jacob Goodknight..amiright?
+Kasim Roe Nae, Fake Diesel....
THE SHOCKMASTER IS THE BEST DEBUT IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF SPORTS PERIOD.
👏👏👏👏😄
I see the point you raise but have you considered the gobbledy gooker
This blunder is so famous even non-wrestling fans know about it
I love how you added the "sports" detail
Ha ha
In an alternate universe in a different timeline The Gobbledy Gooker is the Greatest Wrestler ever.
But did he trip?
+Bubba Gooker and Mankind's Hell in a Cell match in 98 is an all time classic.
And the Gladiators won the NWA tag titles, then beat the Road Warriors at Starrcade in a unification match (Warriors international belts were on the line). Then they turned face and spent all of 1988 feuding with the Horsemen and Midnight Express before the Warriors took the belts in an extended squash match.
+MGB Your age is showing :)
In that universe, you can watch him on the WCW network
beaver cleaveage! that could have replaced phantasio who only appeared on one episode of challenge with zero build. they built beaver for weeks with vignettes and he came out to dead air. undoubtedly, a stupid russo creation.
Instead they gave Chaz the woman beater gimmick with "Mrs. Cleavage" aka his girlfriend.
"Creepy pantsless maverick" was my nickname in high school. Thanks for the shoutout!
remember the build up for kizarny?
Lil Bristo yezes!
yeah me neither
Wizzelcome tizzu thizzuh kizarnival
Yup
Had high hopes for it to be honest.
Seven's entrance was absolutely awesome and terrifying. It probably wouldn't have worked in the end, but it certainly had the potential to be a pretty cool Undertaker equivalent for WCW.
Seven would have worked people were pumped about it at the time but they didn't even give it a one week chance before killing it off. I talked to Dustin about it in Puerto Rico back in 2006 and he had said he helped come up with the elaborate design for it and he was also disappointing they dumped it and ended up doing nothing with him the rest of his time there.
totally agree I was psyched to see it
Seven was a great idea Dustin would definitely have made it work.... they only got a little too far with the vignettes :-(
@@cathycatsville67 Huh? You guys. It was a worked shoot.
Better than your shitty gimmicks Devon.Bloodeater.So so very bad
Fandango had one of the worst. They billed him like he was the second coming of Stone Cold with all those weird video packages (which honestly, due to my not watching NXT at the time, made me think that "Fandango" was a WWE dancing show that would supposedly rival DWTS) and when he debuted, he did about as much as a guy who the average viewer would expect from the guy dancing around the ring dressed in an extremely flamboyant costume. Gotta hand it to Johnny Curtis for rolling with it and trying his best to make it work, though.
Wrong! He debuted and beat Jericho at Wrestlemania he was also very over at the time
Fandango had an great debut. Everything after that though sucked for the guy.
I'm having a hard time finding these video packages. Do you know if there are any out there that you may know of?
manband20 pppp
Lol, Fandango had near Shinsuke Nakamura levels of support, with people constantly singing his theme EVEN WHEN HE WASN'T IN THE MATCH.
One amazing episode is when the crowd just went ballistic chanting random stuff and one of the main things they kept chanting was Fandango's theme.
9:36 - Yes! I knew I wasn't the only one to hear Stid! I think they edited it with 'Sid' in later clips also.
5:21 - 5:27 Listens out the window
"Here comes the YETAAAAAAAAA!" OMG I heard it.
Z-Man, I swear this channel has easily become one of my new favorites. I've only just rekindled my love of professional wrestling a few months ago, and it's content like yours that really helped get me back into it all. I'm glad I could help get you one tiny step closer to 100K subs, you deserve every one of them Mr. Zane, keep up the good work!
I think Beefcake was very jealous of the Yeti in that bear hug.
11:29 - 11:41
Not only that, but at least the Shockmaster's botched debut was an accident. The Gobbledy Gooker's debut was wretched by its very design.
Awesome and entertaining video synopses Keep em coming buddy.
That Gobbletygooker egg would've been ideal for a Red Rooster return.
I recently watched the whole Yeti fiasco on the WWE Network (only $9.99!) and the oddest part to me was it was barely even acknowledged or explained. Okay, sure, the mummy man is a yeti, that's odd enough, but it was barely a flash in the pan and was never heard of, or mentioned, ever again.
The Goddledygooker's debut was also detrimental to Roddy Piper's "bad@$$ anti-hero" persona that some fans seem to think he did better than Stone Cold. On commentary, during the 'Gooker's debut doing...whatever he was doing...Piper was exclaiming, "Oh, the kids are lovin' this!" with forced, fake laughter that would make even Michael Cole cringe.
"He was being sarcastic!" No. No, he was doing what the script told him.
Love this channel, Brian. Great to see new content. More planned?
I had to turn on notifications for this channel, I can't miss these videos haha
Clue the Movie reference? Well done sir. Well done.
+Nostradouglas5 One of the best!
+Wrestling With Wregret hey do a kane best career moments
+Wrestling With Wregret So... top 8 jobbers going to be made eventually?
+Wrestling With Wregret top 8 worst pushs
***** I now and u watch the www vid
" you had to laugh because you knew the gimmick was gonna die" DETROIT ROCK CITY!
Very interesting video, I learned a lot from this :)
This video was especially well done. Keep up the good work.
Great stuff! I know a lot of these guys would apply to this but I think a list of "8 worst wrestler repackaging" could still be solid.
+LuckyDT I did an episode on just that way back when, but it was blocked by RUclips after a while. It will return in the very near-future!
+Wrestling With Wregret do u still wrestle just wondering
+Adam lynch I still work the occasional indy show as a manager, but I stopped wrestling regularly back in 2007.
+Wrestling With Wregret Cool man I'll be happy to check that out when it's re-released...I'm predicting a Lord Tensai appearance!
LuckyDT It's already up!
I'm glad that wasn't the undertaker under that Turkey costume
+Rey Gonzalez according to Cornette, it was supposed to be Terry Funk to come out of that egg.. WTF...
Subscribed to your channel your videos are gold.
11:02 The ECW Zombie actually passed away a year ago at the age of 38. I just looked it up.
Awe, he wasn't that old
How much fun was it to sell a chokeslam, Brian?
This thought just occurred to me about Phantasio: In 1995 the curtain call hadn’t happened yet and WWF was still trying to maintain a sense kayfabe. If the Undertaker pointed anything out to Vince, it might have been that this guy’s gimmick is veering a little too close to exposing the business than they would like. Vince agrees and sends Del Rios back to developmental. Del Rios is never told the reason other than there was a conversation between Vince and the Undertaker. I’m just thinking that this seems more likely than the Undertaker thinking the gimmicks were too similar.
CONGRATS ON 100K I'm a big fan
Detroit Rock City!!! 😂. Good use of lyrics!
+Nicolas Conforti (SoloParaTrollear) Glad you caught that!
+Wrestling With Wregret you sell better than cena
Nicolas Conforti literally a year after this video and I just heard him say that line, and it just clicked
I now want a magician undertaker who comes out of an egg for an entrance.
GamerGuy: I want a magician undertaker shockmaster who bursts out of the egg and falls flat on his f***** arse.
Had to come back here after watching "Reliving the War" for the past month, just to remind myself what a let down Glacier was.
one of the best channels on YT really enjoy the vids n i hardly watch wrestling anymore👌i have a question what soccer/football team do u support?
more like a mummeh than a yeteh
I never will forget Bastian Booger actually losing his debut match against Virgil. I thought this was highly unusual at the time, as usually a debuting wrestler was a shoe in to go over. But I have forgotten far more debut matches where the debuting person actually went over and this one sticks out as memorable for the fact that the person making their debut on a grand stage lost.
Gladiators falling to the full force of Mulkey Mania
hey zane!! how does choke-slam feel? :-p
OUCH!!!
:-D
+MsAdeel66
Auspicious
Fake
Anthony Tran i know its fake. but trained or not it has to hurt atleast a little bit..
I remember your first bump, ever, in a backyard ring in Springfield. Come a long way Mr Zane!
8:55 - 9:06 had me dying and then the "Stid" part I damn near passed out I was laughing so hard.
Who knows? Magic Egg Undertaker could've gotten over just as well.
HERETIC! The first Mortal Kombat was a fantastic film that still holds up today
Another great video!
Absolutely love your work, Brian.
I like how you mentioned what if taker was in the egg since he has recently mentioned that when he talked to Vince before he signed he became worried he would become "egg man"
Honestly, the concept of a "Wrestling Magician" like Phantasio was kind of cool and might have worked if they had gone with more of a "Criss Angel" type of magician. Instead...we got magically removed underwear and streamers. Lame.
I haven’t watched wrestling since 2000.. heh. But I love these videos! I watched for many years as a kid though. So it’s nostalgic. But I think the host is hilarious and fun
Brian, very good show. My husband and I got a lot of laughs.
Where would you put Kizarny?
I actually liked the Phantasio gimmick it wasn't the worst for its time and he made the match pretty interesting. It was interesting to see what magic tricks he would use and how he would incorporate them into his wrestling moves. I found it quite entertaining and I know the gimmick probably wouldn't have last long anyways if the debut was a little better but its a shame the crowd wasn't interested and will never get to see more matches with other wrestlers with equally interesting gimmicks from him.
great video man would like to do a podcast episode with you just talking about wrestling
+KC DA MOST I'm always free to talk on podcasts!
Cool I'll let you know when I'll ready gotta get a day off
Brock Lesnar vs Gobbledy Gooker, book It Vince!
Damn, Seven looked like a awesome wrestler, shame it ended like that...
Batista.
*HE WAS A DEACON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!*
If we're counting that, we gotta count CM punk. Who showed up dressed as a 1940s gangster accompanying Cena to the ring.
holy fuck. i had NO IDEA Kane was Fake Diesel this entire time until you implied something hahahahaha. that was one of my favorite spoofs of all time
When you went and done the zombie angle, that I just died laughing.
You know what would've been awesome? The Blue Blazer being in that egg.
I'm going to take issue with that statement about the first Mortal Kombat movie being awful.
+AzureSymbiote Same here.
It wasn't Annihilation awful
+AzureSymbiote I'd say it wasn't a good movie. But at the same time, I had a lot of fun watching it.
At least it had good fighting in it. Street Fighter seemed to shy away from fighting except for the final fight between Bison vs. Guile and Ken and Ryu vs Sagat and Vega (which sucked)
Shaw Dawg Well considering that the former fight involved an actor who was dieing of cancer and the latter had to be severely edited in order to get the film a PG-13 rating, it's not like it was entirely their fault.
Everything else wrong with the Street Fighter movie IS their fault, however.
lol love the CLUE "one thing" snippet....suuuch an underrated movie..
I literally had a nightmare of a seven-esque character last night. Thank you for always delivering.
taker was offered to be the gooker, so we would have seen Brock lesnar kill the gooker' streak
(joke copied by whatculture wrestling)
And i just made myself sad...
+Ermac1990 You can't just type "L" in a reply to prove a point. It means literally nothing.
+GamingUltima L
+eJs It's a bit more complicated Mark had done house shows as Cane the Undertaker and was booked as Brother Love's surprise wrestler in a match against the Harts and others. A member of the Hart Family had just died and the 'taker might have been seen as insensitive. they thought of switching him with Guerrero or have Mark wrestle dressed identically to Brother Love. But Bret and Owen said keep it as planned so Undertaker made his TV debut.
Gennaromon Gobbledy Gooker for WWE hall of fame!
CLUE IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE THANK YOU SO MUCH
I died laughing when Shock said "STID" at 9:36
i feel like i said this already, probably on THIS video.... but GREAT "CLUE" drop, with the ONE THING... one of my all time favorite movies, soooo underrated
MK movie awful? THAT'S IT BRIAN. YOU CROSSED THE LINE. YOU. ME. RING. NOW
No, he's right. The movie is mediocre at the absolute best. They made a PG 13 movie out of a series known for its gore, violence and fatalities. It's like making a Resident Evil movie without zombies.
I am surprised that "Beaver Cleavage" is not on this list.
Sitharos that was never going to work no matter the debut
"the yeti dry humping some poor bastard" made me laugh hard in tears...xD
Epic video the zombie part had me crying
I lost it at you being scared of Seven.
Did you seriously say the first MK movie was awful? That movie was great, the second movie was awful.
+barrymk400 - I liked the MK movie, but then I also liked Glacier so what do I know. Should have had him in Mortal Kombat Conquest.
It wasn't great, but it was awful. It was bad with a few great moments.
It was cheaply made not awful. The second movie was stupid and broke too far away from the canon
I agree. The first Mortal Kombat movie was actually really good for a video game movie. Sure, it's not the greatest film in the world, but it's still highly entertaining, and miles better than the sequel, that one is the awful one.
Yeah, the first MK movie was great. Even to this day, I still watch it.
Kind of makes me wonder if Undertaker tombstoning a guy in a turkey costume on Jimmy Fallon was a pot shot at the Gooker. I saw that segment on YT and I'm still laughing at how Taker kept in character while doing something so ridiculous and funny.
Clue! reference and The Kiss Demon in the same episode?! Best episode ever!!!
I remember the debut interview Primo had when he first joined the company. He was interviewed by Mike Adamle (Who I hope you'll do a review on) and when asking Primo a question, Mike ran off and interviewed a far more important superstar (who I ironically enough I don't remember who). It kinda snubbed Primo as not important and was pretty insulting considering who his father was.
yeah let's show him some respect because his father help aid and abet in the murder of bruiser brody and employed and pushed his murderer for years
The YETAYYY vs Brock Lesnar. Book it Vince!
Just binge watching classic wrestling vids right now.
Hey Mr Zane, been following you for a while now, was watching your worst 8 debuts, and one of them the lights go out and a masked wrestler comes in to finish it, is this a 1 and done type of thing? Or have other matches needed saving from masked wrestlers?
What about Animals debut on WCW as Sid is laying there in agony with a broken leg?
The Shockmaster debut always crack me up.
At least he redeemed himself on the Edge n Christian show.
haha nice one with taker popping out of the egg doing magic tricks.
Oh gawd I remember most of these jokers...I haven't laughed this hard in weeks!
