    That extra under-bunk space is GREAT for pet owners! I have a kitty cat that will need space for his litterbox, which is obviously something I want to keep relatively isolated or contained

    • @pennylynch4471

      And perfect for cleaning that litter box(es) since you can keep the living area of the trailer closed off to keep the cats in yet have full access to the area from the outside. I love it!

I love the extra storage under the bunks. Plus, King Bed…yes, yes, yes. Okay, can we say, auto leveling in a travel trailer. They are doing it right. Like others, this is one of our favorite layouts with grand design. There are features that are fine here.

    • @zacharygittle4665
      @zacharygittle4665 2 года назад +4

      The big difference is how they are built the grand design is wood framed with aluminum finish on the outside normally, cougar is aluminum framed with fiberglass finish, the cougar also has more features like the auto leveling better suspension and wheel package, front windshield, etc. The cougar is gonna be better instalated as well. Either one is a good option just depends on what your looking for and wanting to spend.

    The 30BHS is an amazing trailer. It is close to perfect. Cougar could make the following changes to check all the boxes.
    1. Leaving the openness, convert bunk to 29BHL system.
    2. Raise top bunk, make lower bunk window longer and taller
    3. Add a large outdoor kitchen slide to rear, like 29RKS.

    This is definitely one of my favorites. Love that they use an L-shaped dinette in front of the bunks plus all the storage the give you underneath both the bunks and the dinette. I personally would go with the sleeper sofa strictly because they give you the ottoman. I like the versatility that it offers (additional sleeping plus foot rest). I just wish the bunks had a larger weight capacity. They’re big enough to sleep to adults in a pinch but I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing the current weight capacity. Is Jayco the only one that offers more that a 300 lb weight capacity on a double bunk? Do you think other manufacturers will eventually move toward that as a standard or stay pat with what they currently offer?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад +3

      Ember does as well but they don't do anything this size or even close
      Funny thing is I think MOST brands actually DO have 600lb rated bunks but they don't bother checking. They measure a "single" bunk and just re-use the sticker. Stupidly short sighted

    Uncle Josh, This may be the coolest TT on the market. It could make me take this over a 5thW. Fireplace is mandatory for me; simply won't even consider a rig without a fireplace. Trifold sleeper sofa is also mandatory. Movable table is Forest River-like, and totally innovative. InCommand checks another box for me. Will not touch a rig with East German button control panel; a electrical fire waiting to happen. There's only one drawback to this unit which could kill a sale: the walk through bathroom. I prefer 5thWs to TTs from go. The physics of 5thW towing really has no TT set-up to challenge it. If Keystone could somehow build this rig with a mid-unit head instead of the walk through bathroom, I would ignore the disadvantages of TT towing. In that case, it would be near perfect.

    I like the floor plan and you point out some interesting possibilities. It doesn't interest me personally because we just don't need that much space but I can see how this would work as a destination model or for someone with multiple kids. Some people regularly camp with a group of other campers so having all that space would be attractive without spending $85k on a 5th wheel.
    King bed, outside kitchen, theater seats. It checks all my boxes.
    I know I COULD pull it with my F150...but it wouldn't be any fun. You really need a heavy truck to pull this sucker of the wind is blowing.

    I love this model ...or did until I saw the bedroom with the "false walk-around bed". This is the second Cougar video I've seen today with "stuff" by the side of the bed and it kills me that it's a deal breaker for me because I cannot crawl over that and into bed. I love what Cougar has done with the kitchen, that dinette is fantastic, I'm not a big fan of walk-thru bathrooms but I can adapt. I love the door shades. I don't need a bunkhouse but this one looks fantastic. Cougar people, if you're reading this, I'd trade space under the bed or trade some outside storage so I could walk at least half way up to the head of the bed. A queen option might be nice too.

  • @joea6540
    @joea6540 2 года назад +1

    This floorplan must be growing on me because I watched the video AGAIN and found (maybe) some things that might need to be tweaked. I didn't see a spare tire? There currently isn't a place for coats either, but I have some ideas for that- move the command system up a just a bit and put the coat hooks toward the bottom of where it sits OR move the fire extinguisher from it's current location to over by the bunk stairs and put coat hooks from the entry door to the camp side window. I also caught that you mentioned there weren't any struts on the cabinets over the bed so that would be a good tweak as well. The black water tank is only 30 gal, but other brands offer 45 gal so could they tweak the tank sizes and that would allow them to go to just one drain line? I also think some branded trash cans for those dedicated spaces would be a nice touch. Another option that I would spring for would be a bumper mounted griddle as sometimes you just need more cooking surface or if they could find a way to mount it on the side like the Freedom Expresses and the Rockwood's!! I went to their website to spec one out and there are no color choices for the interior main living space cabinets so that would be nice also as I don't particularly care for the white cabinets - I guess I could always replace them with wood tone ones, but when you are spending in the ballpark of 50k it would be nice if you could just order it that way from the factory. The last idea was if they could option in a tankless water heater if possible, but I get that's probably asking for the moon...lol. Have a GREAT weekend and thanks for all of your reviews and updates!!!

    She is pretty! Theatre seats would be my choice. The cargo space could be useful to ke due to my need to bring a wheelchair as well as a ramp and a power scooter m. However, the bunk steps are an issue as you cannot get anything through to the main part of the RV. I would like to find a way to swap the king bed for a queen bed.. I'm definitely not a fan of the box containing the cables and wires on the left side of the bed. I understand they have to be somewhere but the choice to put them along the left side of the bed makes it nearly impossible to make up the bed and utilize the closet on the left side. I'm not sure if there is a way to move them underneath or not. I would definitely be willing to give up some of the underbed or cargo area storage in exchange for having a functional walk around bed. Again, a beautiful unit. I love the bathroom. I don't mind a pass through bathroom. I think they did a good job with storage space and I like the fact they provided a larger shower that doesn't have a tall step in to get into it. All pluses as a disabled person who would like the opportunity to RV.

    Great video Josh. This is an AWESOME floor plan. Since you always ask, my tweaks would be as follow, go to one sewer line unless they plan on somehow adding a sink in the outside kitchen, Maxx air fan in the bathroom if there isn't one in there already (you forgot to cover it...lol), and with a trailer this size, 50amp should be standard issue. Did anyone see a pantry/ linen closet/ or a coat closet? Like someone else mentioned- test the bunks weight capacity PLEASE -- as these LOOK big enough for adults, but will they hold two adults??? Give us consumers some factory options like day/night roller shades, a slide topper, Maxx air fan for over the bunks, Queen bed option (some of us are single and don't need a King just need extra bunks for guests/ family who come along.), and some type of locking mechanism(s) for the sliding doors please. They knocked it out of the park with this layout- outside kitchen, auto-leveling, unique bunk layout, 12v fridge, bigger oven for those of us that love to bake, love the solar package options, just an overall outstanding design.

    I watched the video a second time around ad realized I missed a couple of things 1) This is a high end floor plan and they mixed the cargo door latch types (They SHOULD ALL be slam latch unless it can't be done structurally?) 2) Would be something to do when it is up for a re-design- in my opinion, any trailer over 32ft should have a spread axle design to help combat the wiggles on the highway.

  • @evs-chris
    @evs-chris 2 года назад

    Maybe I'm a weirdo, but it always confuses me that master bedrooms, especially those with outside doors, don't default to having a murphy bed. Space is always at a premium in an rv, and you definitely need as much comfortable space for butts as is possible if you need a bunk house. For those gifted with spectrum or anxiety conditions or high energy kids, having a separate space that you can exist comfortably without having to lay down would be marvelous. You're only going to need the bed for however long you need to sleep or aggressively fold laundry anyway, right? Sometimes it's even nice to have a sofa and some floor space for some of your more competitive aggressive laundry folding.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад

      There's certainly logic to what you're saying, but as someone who reads a lot of consumer feedback the general client prefers a bed that doesn't move and is just made up for when they're ready to crash
      Not saying I disagree with you -- simply sharing some info to explain the "why" behind the what you're seeing. You're not the first or only one to share input like this though

    • @evs-chris
      @evs-chris 2 года назад

      @@JoshtheRVNerd I knew it. I _am_ a weirdo.
      That's fair though. I like the smaller, lighter bunk house travel trailers that are really only viable with the inclusion of a murphy bed. I guess I wish there were more upgrade options when I get ready to give up and get a decent-sized tow vehicle.
      Thanks for the feedback feedback!
